Recently I sub to this channel. I really like old CRT tech, specially after getting a consumer AOC CT720g VGA monitor that appears to be unfocused and have bad geometry. I suppose that is something with the capacitors or dust. I want to open it and see what is the issue (I watched your video about CRT safety too). Anyway, hope you could keep up with this channel!
Thanks and welcome to the channel. I have lots of videos to help with servicing CRTs. I plan to keep making content. Focus is fixed most of the time by adjusting the Flyback Transformer.
I love your channel. I've been really interested in CRT technology for a few years now and it's great to see someone get in depth with the subject like this. I've got a bunch of TVs around the house and I actually have the exact model as this one. I'm hoping some day to follow your instructions and mod it like you did. I don't suppose you know of a supplier for flyback transformers do you? I've got a 14L5 with busted transformer :(
My Jungle IC has R G B in pins, also found the blkin pin. The problem... my TV doesn't have composite (no AV input to switch to with the remote either, guessing it's not programmed in). Do you know what pin label the coaxial tuner usually uses? I assume I can use that as my sync, but gotta tap into it directly on the Jungle IC, might you know?
I think your blooming problem is because the signal probably needs to be attenuated coming into the jungle IC. I would try a 75 ohm resistor on R, G, B, and sync to see what effect it has. If that doesn't work, try something bigger, like 270 or 330 ohm. The SCART cable should already have some attenuation in it, but it might not be enough for your mod.
is it possible to locate the RGB and blanking pins on the Jungle IC without a service manual? no schematics available for my set, and I reallllly want to use this specific TV because the scan lines are incredible!!!
I need help with this strange issue, I've bought a 1995/6 Toshiba CRT TV online and it comes up with nothing except when using the OSD in which case just a single line appears in the centre of the screen. But when I moved the TV or gave it a little whack, a picture started to immerge but only on a third of the screen and the image was scrolling downwards constantly. Then after the tube warmed up if you had the TV in the right position the picture would fill the entire screen as it should but it's very unstable and it's in black and white (apart from the OSD which is still in colour.) I then decided to clean out the inside of the TV (which it needed!) and then tested it again but the same problem occured and this time no change at all when moved or warmed up. So now I have no idea what the problem is but bear in mind that when I bought the TV online, the pictures showed it working perfectly fine with no apparant issues so I think that either something came loose during shipping or an internal component just gave up out of nowhere. Audio works completely fine however.
Jungle IC failures are pretty rare. Vertical problems are much more likely to be caused by bad connections, caps, resistors, diodes, transistors, or the Vertical IC.
Love your channel. It is invaluable for all the CRT enthusiasts.
Thanks Kevin!
Glad you were able to troubleshoot this , the stereo out mod is a great addition
Thanks for showing the stereo out mod! Super cool!
Glad to see you preserve. Job well done.
Thanks, I was very happy to find that broken resistor.

I'm sorry I dont know about a replacement Flyback

I think you are right. I did attenuate it already with 75 ohm resistors originally. I will try the larger ohm ones to see if that helps. Thanks.

Maybe, you would need to search the chips to see if you can find a pinout for the jungle IC

Do you wanna sell that tv?
I may sell this one. I've got to make sure it passes all the quality control tests 1st though.
@@RetroTechUSA ok well let me know. I would like to have it.
