Acclaimed rock vocalist Jeff Scott Soto has announced the release of his next solo project, "The Duets Collection, Vol. 1" on October 8, 2021. For this album, Soto wanted to do a career retrospective and re-record some of his favorite songs from his storied career, but with the twist that he invited friends to join him on duets of said songs.
Using the down time from his normally relentless touring activity due to the worldwide pandemic, renowned vocalist Jeff Scott Soto decided to create a very special album which pays tribute to some of the classic songs he has recorded over the course of his storied career. But, rather than simple re-records, he wanted to make the album something special, unique. So, not only did he re-record these songs with his musical friends Jorge Salan, Howie Simon (guitars), Leo Mancini (guitars), Tony Dickinson (bass) and Edu Cominato (drums), but he called in some of his fellow rock friends/vocalists to create a unique DUETS album. With the likes of Erik Mårtensson (Eclipse, W.E.T.), Dino Jelusick (Animal Drive, Dirty Shirley), Eric Martin (Mr. Big), Johnny Gioeli (Hardline), Deen Castronovo (Revolution Saints, Journey), Nathan James (Inglorious), Russell Allen (Symphony X), Renan Zonta (Electric Mob), Mats Leven (Candlemass, TSO), BJ (Spektra, SOTO), and Aliro Netto (Shaman, Queen Extravaganza), this is an amazing international affair.
The track listing alone will surely make any JSS fan excited, much less hearing the final product. Where can you get such an amazing list of singers and songs all in the same place?

Jeff Scott Soto is a man that needs virtually no introduction to any discerning melodic rock fan. Jeff launched his career at the young age of 18 years old in tremendous fashion as the lead vocalist for Yngwie Malmsteen’s debut album, "Rising Force" and the sophomore album, “Marching Out”. That first step into the spotlight has led to a career that has seen Jeff play and work with an outstanding number of artists and genres from the AOR of Eyes and Takara, to the hard rock and metal of Talisman, Axel Rudi Pell, Soul SirkUS, and of course, his time with the legendary Journey. Jeff has also maintained a solo career over the past decades, while also recently joining up with the progressive metal supergroup Sons of Apollo.

Just thinking exactly the same. Think it's pretty obvious now that Marching Out and the other earlier albums were great because of the other musicians.
Sure Yngwie is an amazing guitarist.. But the plain fact is he can't write songs.

JSS is a true professional. He's remained relavent in the industry and has retained his vocal quality after all the years.
Jeff is constantly working on more than one band at a time.
Mainly because he didn’t let journey use his voice up and spit him out…. Soto is a class act…
while his voice totally changed he definitely learned how to cope with that change better than anyone.
In fact I'd say he's even better now than what he was with Yngwie

Yngwie Malmsteen is THE GOD, of the neoclassical style and all his musicians ever are from the very best selection, Masters of their instruments even Today. I brought up on this music and actually this was the record that made me to start playing guitar, buying my first ever instrument. A completely out of this world performance from Malmsteen's greatest singer maybe and from a young one I never heard before, but will hear from soon, I am sure about. Amazing!

It sounds close to the version on "Marching Out", that I was fortunate enough to see live with YJM, w/JSS in 1985 in Boston, MA., with the amazing Billy Sheehan opening up with his band, Talas! Always incredible vocals Jeff!

Two of the best vocalists in the world together singing a fantastic song. What's not to love? Better than the original. Just wish the record co would stop mis-syncing Dino's vocals. They do it on everything he does for them but we know why. Never mind...we listen more than we watch. Epic.
It's been about 16 years now that every so often I look for a decent cover of this song and when I finally find it, Jeff himself is on it. Master!

This was, by far, my favorite song on the Rising Force album.
As a songwriter/guitar player myself, I felt like this one had such strong writing and melody that Ynwie's playing took a back seat and the song itself took the spotlight for a change.
It was interesting in this mix that they had the harmony vox jump to the front and what was the lead chorus vox on the original became a harmony vocal. Great song and great performances.

Oh ok, I saw with YM way back when and then the next time I saw YM Turner was singing. JSS has an Amazing voice. Dino is several singers rolled into one.
@@81slider Yeah, I say him on the Rising Force album tour and they were pretty great. As a guitar player myself, I'm blown away by Yngwie, but grow quickly tired of his soloing. I think someone like Nuno Bettencourt, who has amazing talent and chops, is able to showcase his skills in a way that makes you feel like you're still listening to a song and not just a solo competition. Yngwie is a legend, but would be a lot bigger star if he focused as much on songwriting as he did on showing off. Just my two cents.
