@@INTJ791We are talking about dialects, not "accents". Meanwhile in English you just change "Shrimp vs Prawn", in Japanese or mostly Asian languages the words change completely. No one is talking about English, there is more languages, did you knew?
No it just means your Japanese isn't very good, because everyone uses Standard Japanese in the city center. Nagoyaben is only spoken by people over their 70s in the rural areas.
@@Jumpoable I worked with a team in Nagoya for over 10 years, all people in their 30s and early 40s. While standard Japanese was used when our translator was present, I never had any trouble hearing regular use of Nagoya-ben in less formal settings, and none of it was in a "rural area". When asked, they explained that Nagoya has its own dialect, and that due to its location between eastern and western Japan, it includes aspects of both Kantou-ben and Kansai-ben.
@sje123 I worked in Nagoya, never really heard anything other than standard Japanese dialect. It's gonna be individual experience. I lived in Okazaki so got exposed to Mikawa-ben quite a bit.
I wonder where “ketta” comes from to mean bicycle. Assuming that because it’s in Katakana it’s either a foreign word or they just use that script/spelling instead of hiragana.

Nagoya-ben sounds like a person trying desperately to hide the fact that they're a shapeshifted cat
seriously sounded like nyanko sensei lol
thats literally a stereotype of them lol that they speak like cats
Just when you think learning japanese was difficult then this 💀
Same as Indonesian its depends of the region
I imagine if you learn the Tokyo dialect, pretty much everyone in Japan would understand you
Umm English have Australian accent, south US accent, Canada north US accent, south UK accent, Scottish accent, North UK accent, midlands accent, so ..

nagoya dialect sounds so cute 🥺 i love hearing different regional accents/dialetcs in japanese
I am so fascinated by Japanese dialects, the more divergent the better. I didn’t realise Nagoya was so different from Tokyo dialect, great video!!
Tokyo's laugh at the end ❤. It was a type of "teacher laugh" to me.
I smiled at the last one because it sounds so different!😂 Same in France, some regions have their own special words. Sometimes cute, sometimes funny !
Very cool :). More of these please. ありがとう!
楽しく拝見しました😊
I move to Nagoya in January so more of these exact videos please 😂
Even Japanese would have to learn new slang. (笑)
I recommend Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki to anyone who wants to hear more Nagoya-ben, its basically Tōkai region stereotypes and its really funny
TYSM !!
Yay Nagoya my place ☺️ Filipino Japanese here
This must by why I couldn't understand anything the times I was in Nagoya! But it's a wonderful city and I love going there. :-)

うみゃあの表記は”umyaa”ではなく”umææ”の方が良いかと。

ふんぎゃふんぎゃ
when I thought I had a grasp of basic japanese, and now I discover they have entire dialects. Im done
I would barely call it a dialect.
Saying any of this in public would be considered weird.
Both are japanese language?
Yes Tokyo dialect vs Nagoya dialect.
I think Nagoya dialect is correct Japanese grammar.
I don't speak Japanese but I've read in Tokyo they think they have the best accent-even news broadcasters have a Tokyo accent
I liked "ketta", it reminds me of the way to call a bicycle in my language
What is Nagoya?
a city in japan
