- After being named last year as New Balance Made In USA's Creative Director, Teddy Santis dropped another pair from his 16-pair collection late last month through a raffle on Aime Leon Dore's website. Love mine, the different shades of white/cream give dimensions to the shoe, so much better than the stock pics. Totally agree on the sizing, more snug than other v2’s I got.
I was waiting for this review for the sizing specifically! Can always count on Sean to provide accurate sizing information - amazing pair too.
ALD did an amazing job for this 990v2. It easily became one of my go to shoes. 💯🙌🤝
I generally prefer the v3 but for the sea salt colorway, I actually prefer the v2. While I love cream pairs and cream / vintage highlights, I usually stay away from white kicks - but I do like these and especially the quality.
I’ve been fortunate to hit on a lot of these recent NBs and probably should make some tough choices on what to wear, to save, or to sell. (For now, I might sell a couple of my ALD 550s and 650Rs. I mean, I don’t really need all the colorways, right?)
Gotta catch em all 🤣
The fact that these aren’t as comfortable as other models makes me feel a tiny bit better that I struck out on em. Thanks for the review.

I just got mine from goat and the QC is not so good. Mine has paint on the white leather from the mid sole cream color and it’s separating. For me tho, I’m a really wide footer but I could definitely go down half size

Agree that they are just a hair more snug than the Marblehead but as you said probably just due to leather vs suede. I absolutely love mine. Does anyone else find the laces on these teddy 16 pairs to be a bit too long?

I find it really annoying that these were only released on ALD. I lost the raffle sadly, but at least resell is decently low. I can’t normally wear 990’s because they use pig suede, which I can’t wear for religious reasons but since these are made with leather I can wear them! and on top of that they look hella nice!

may feel snug around the mid part of your toe. I would have gone tts personally for some more room.
Yeah that’s my situation lol. It’s a bit snug but it’s not unbearable, just wear thinner socks

I liked the v2 more than the v3 of these looking at the initial pictures - once I got both in hand I now definitely prefer the v3

Resold my pair. I liked them but didn’t love them. For me, I already have the white/grey ALD 550’s that I would pick over these when I’d want a “white” casual sneaker

990v1 for the retro/hipster kinda aspect, I can understand.. But v2 and v3 are just ugly high quality well done trainers with a bit more comfort, but not as comfy as modern trainers.. Pointless imo..
