As an anecdotal aside, I used to work in the hobby industry years ago and had the honor of being a guest of Tamiya for the Shizuoka hobby show. I received a tour of headquarters including the top floor and the secret project area where future car design were being prototyped. The highlight was a tea ceremony with Mr Shunsako Tamiya and his wife in their home! Many of the RC kits can also be purchased in XB (expert built) versions that are fully built and painted.
Woww…Tamiya is truly a global brand when it comes to all model kits. So easy to assemble because of the easy instructions and the fitting is just spotted on precisely. Tamiya product truly reflects the Japanese mindset of the absolute attention to details and it is truly one of my favorite brand of modeling kits !!!
This is amazing. My first "real" RC car was a Tamiya F40, which is also my favorite car of all time. I also had a Tamiya TA03F, which I upgraded similar to the Pro model over time. Love Tamiya, quality is top notch
Like you, I grew up building model airplanes, cars, ships, etc. but life happened and I haven't built one in many decades. Back then, they were not as detailed or sophisticated as current models (Mostly Revell and Aurora stuff) and the tools to build them were more primitive. ie - spray cans of paint, scissors, tubes of glue, rubber bands, etc. Tamiya and Hasegawa were not as readily available back then but to me these are the creme-de-la-creme of models. Thanks for the tour but I'm glad I wasn't there because I would have caused some serious damage with my bank account and monetary policy. Cheers.
So many memories…my cousins and I would race our Tamiya RC’s all summer long, I had a Fox, and they had Grasshopper and Hornet. The “Bruiser” was always the dream truck…too expensive for kids.
David I’ve been following your channel for years. I don’t know you are a model and Tamiya fan too! Recently I visited the Tamiya Plamodel Factory in Hong Kong but definitely visiting the Japan one is my dream! Thanks for sharing!
You have to do the remote cars. The ones there look more detailed than any I’ve seen here in the states. I wonder if there are any stores that sell these in North America.
They still are available in the states. I just ordered one for my son's Christmas gift. Great kits to build but the bodies are not as detailed as they used to be. They switched to mostly lexan. I think cost came into play
Whew, this is a very dangerous toy store for me! I read a manga about the toy 4wd model car like this when I was a kid. I could never afford toys like these but now I need to stay away from them haha

I used to prefer Tamiya tanks and military vehicles over all other brands, fifty-two years ago.

It's called being polite and consideration, which is a part of Japanese culture unlike USA 😅
There is so many so many. People and families. And homeless. So many. What have we become
