We had run out of tyres so I ended up in the only tyre shop I could find with google translate on my phone saying “I need shit tyres."
The lads had a fit when I rolled in 2x 9” rear rims but I eventually talked them into fitting 2x 195/50/15 Firestones and shit they were.
The next 2 stages were like driving on a pair of balloons!! But my god was it fun!

What a fantastic team is Frank kelly and Lauren his daughter on road tires that cant have been easy to say the least but frank makes it so exciting and fun to watch. Who ever gave it a tumbs down should not be subscribed to the channel as they need there head checked thats a 10/10 for skill on road tires . Driving Rallies in the late 80's begin 90's on an Opel Ascona B. Sometimes on Bridgestone Potenza 180/51-13 in front and 185/60-13 roadtires rear.............

Aw ffs, I’ve been avoiding this one and now I know why! I’ve now got lockjaw in the grimace position! 😂😂😂 30 years ago, my cousin & myself used to lift bald Pirelli P6s out the Kwikfit skip for tarmac rallying. Just another reason why we were shite! 😂🙈🏁

Awesome video! So let's get technical. What were the exact problems? Overheating? Unpredictable sidewalls? Weird tread pattern? Compound too hard/soft? To my eyes they looked completely unpredictable! Any details would be fabulous!

Sidewall movement was the biggest issue.

Firestone are no good in any situation, how did you keep it on the black stuff? Nice to see the shot of the finished tyres though. Even your daughter knew from the off that was only going one way with the Laugh.
Back in the 80's we used to run 185/60.13 Firestone Firehawks on our road rally Kadette coupe (100 bhp) at £ 30 a corner fitted. The keen opposition ran Avon Turbospeed's at around double the price (better in the dry) but in the wet, muddy whites and cow shite strewn farm lanes the heavily grooved Firehawks were great. Anyway a Milly Escort would shred modern Michelin Pilots & Pirelli P zeros for breakfast too.

I love your racing but this was painful to watch seemed more like you were playing than racing every corner had a flick in it and a few spins because of it I know you could of gone a lot faster
With standard road tyres on the car was a real handful. Couldn’t go fast even if I wanted to 😂 plus rally legend is a show event it’s not timed anyway
@@FrankKellyRallying makes more sense why you were doing more drifting than racing
