  • Friendswood TX is one of the best Houston TX suburbs. It has a smaller community feel with great schools and affordable living. With tons of local shopping and restaurants, it's a full sized suburb with plenty to offer. This video covers the pros & cons of living in Friendswood TX. As you'll see, there really are not that many cons to living in Friendswood. If you're looking for a nice Houston suburb on the south side of Houston with great schools and good amenities, I would highly consider moving to Friendswood TX.

    Shocked nobody brought up property taxes as a con. Lived in Friendswood 14 years and the property taxes aren’t insignificant. That would be my only con.

    10/7/23 - great job. Friendswood spent millions improving their drainage luckily prior to Harvey. Without that investment we would have been hit much harder. Also, it was established as a Quaker community. Lastly, post COVID our tax values have been really high since they say they’re trying to make up for no appraisal increases for a year or two. Having said that, our tax rates are actually very low compared to other cities around us. The home values are just pretty high on average . My wife was born here in 76 and I’ve been here 23 yrs. The single high school is what really contributes to a home town feel. If you don’t have kids in school though, you might want to move in just across the border from the city line.

    Property take rate in Galveston County part of Friendswood if you are not in a MUD is 2.202544%. It is the appraised/assessed values - not tax rate - that have skyrocketed. Also we have new/almost new subdivisions. Just not ridiculously large master planned ones.

    The only problem in Friendswood is the land price. An 3/4 of an acre was well over 100k

    Nice video! Do you think Friendswood is a good place to live as an Asian? Is it diverse? I know most of the folks in Houston are friendly but just wanted to make sure because our family weren't that much welcomed in Indiana.

      Some of the top students in Friendswood High are Asian Americans. But to it's not that diverse. It's mostly middle to higher income white folk.

    Friendswood or Pearland for a young British couple moving to South Houston for work?

      @@HOUTEXKZP so Pearland?

    • @davidfrey5654
      @davidfrey5654 2 месяца назад

      Either one is a great place. You'll find what you're looking for in both cities. Friendswood is a bit smaller and more quaint. Friendswood High is a superior high school. The school system here is superior. The Baybrook Mall is closer to Friendswood, but Pearland has more shops and stores. The big thing is, if you are going to work downtown, you'll want to try and move close to a major freeway. That would be I-45 for Friendswood and 288 for Pearland. The property taxes here are high, BUT, if you make a lot of money, that's offset by not having a Texas state income tax.
