  • So we finally witnessed the global debut of its compact SUV - Honda Elevate - in India today. With this Honda has become one of the last ones to enter the segment, but that's not all. It also misses out on many features that a lot of its rivals offer. Also, it will only get a single 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that we have seen in the City as well. But sadly, it won't get the sophisticated strong hybrid tech that the City has. Instead, the company will launch its electric version by 2026.

Honda has it's own base of customers, just like the apple customer, it's focus is on refinement, quality and a good engine, since the other vehicles in this segment have come up with facelift, the idea of facelift is only to attract new customers, as people would have forgotten the previous launches.
If you look at Elevate without a comparison and solely from the brand, engine, quality of exterior and interiors, then it's worth going for it. Nobody has been disappointed with a Honda till now, the Honda guys know this.

With this car you constantly pointed out that it doesn’t have that usp which will attract customers, like no Panaromic roof or 360 degree camera or no turbo/ diesel engine, etc.
But for me real USP of any car is-
    Engine performance
    Reliability
    Safety
    Build quality
    Brand history
And in all these 5 categories Honda excels, they have never let their customers down.
I don’t mind missing out on gimmicky features, all that matters is that I invest my money on a car that i can drive for many years to come.

You have missed the point completely. Undoubtedly in the category Honda engine is the best though not far ahead with Hyundai NA engine. The point here is that there are no engine options and cut in feature list but will be priced more than the equivalent models from the competition.
I don’t care about the looks bcoz driving dynamics is important . No 360 degree camera, backlit switches, UV glasses , 3rd rear headrest, adjustable seat belt etc.. should have been included if not pano roof, HUD , ambient lighting, air purifiers etc..
Overall there is no USP for this Elevate except for those hard fans of Honda.

I am sure, because of its brand value, it will do well in India. (People are tired of seeing Cretas everywhere) They are looking forward to some change. And I think Elevate will fill that gap. At least I am one of them. Have waited for almost a year for some alternative to hit the market. 🙂

It seems currently offered varients are for real smart buyers who are budget conscious and usually drive moderately ,(most probably by their own without engaging a driver , say less than 2500 km per month) which does not call for strong hybrid version with high added cost which is justifiable for highly active car users (driving about 3000 km or more per month) who can spend min ₹3-5 lakhs additionally for the hybrid. Also some elites would be looking for electric version now itself. If we talk about "Status feeling" of owners point of view, the present Elevate varients are going to elevate Owners pride and make Creta, Seltos owners feel envy. People who are owning and driving a Nano , Swift, i 20 or even fronx or brezza are surely find many short comings in *Honda Elevate* that's their psychology.

Astor 110 hp 144 torque. Honda 122hp 145 torque. Natasp engines are more responsive to part throttle inputs and couple it with CVT perfect for city driving. Turbo engines are very sensitive driving habits and fuel economy can go for a toss easily.

I agree, it’s still the best NA available in the segment and that’s exactly I said in the video. But they had the best strong Hybrid setup as well, which could have been its USP. When Toyota can sell Hybrids in huge numbers with a rather underwhelming hybrid engine, Honda could have killed them and Grand Vitara. • @pinakde3824
      @pinakde3824 Год назад

@@xarvis6538 There is always a customer base for every product. It's just a fundamental fact. People who like a suv with creature comforts do not consider something like a Thar and people who like to off road a lot consider other mid size suvs like propped up sedans. All companies make mistakes and we all have personal biases for or against a company. However if a product gets most of the things right along with good marketing and customer reviews, it usually translates to good sales. Not everyone wants a cooled seat or a panoramic roof. There are many people who want less but want good built quality, handling and fuel efficiency. Honda city does well with its many shortcomings is precisely for the same reason. Also to note is the fact that Honda's portfolio is now limited, in which case even if the product doesn't do marvelous sales like category creator creta, it can still come third or fourth and be a stable product for Honda.

Honda is arguably the most practical automobile Manufacturer in the world. Be it in two or 4 wheelers.
It is easy to get swayed by opinions from channels focused on selling a narrative. Don’t fall for the narrative.
I’m not saying this channel has a propaganda or any other channel for that matter. In fact this is a sane review. As a consumer anyone expecting something different from Honda would be disappointed with this car. BUT :)
That is where we need to take a few steps back and understand that Honda has never been a brand about exceeding expectations. It is always a brand that meets expectations through practicality.
They have listened to the consumer sentiments and made a car for the Indian urban middle class who have fallen for the narrative of “SUV”. Whatever that means.
In the segment, the Elevate has the highest ground clearance.
People were literally crying about Honda Cars not having enough ground clearance (which is a myth) and that myth has now been shut forever with the Elevate.
They’ve learnt from the success of the City and did the smart thing by keeping a clean dash similar to the City.
    Plush upholstery to add.
For those complaining about the sunroof not being Panaromic, please think about how much of star gazing you do and understand astronomy. Because clearly, sunroofs are useless in tropical and sun tropical countries. Again, Honda went with the consumer sentiment and given the sunroof for those who only look at it.
1.5 litre DOHC Ivtec. Show me one car in the segment with a better engine.
If you’ve driven a SOHC or a DOHC Ivtec, you’d acknowledge that the engine is an engineering marvel of refinement and performance.
Honda has never been about gimmicks. They leave that to the Koreans.
Now, the only thing to wait and see is the pricing. If the top end sells for less than 18 lakhs on-road for a MT, then we have a winner.
Honda are late, but this is a car for the enthusiasts. Not for the ones who don’t understand cars.

All reviewers are disappointed because Honda didn't launch it with a strong hybrid. My question is will all these so-called reviewers spend 20 + lakhs buying the Honda Elevate hybrid if launched? These ppl will still buy Hyundai and Kia even if Honda launches Elevate with a hybrid.
I believe Honda developed a quality product with the required features & comfort focusing on safety and reliability. It does not need to sell like Vadapav(Hyundai Creta and Seltos). All it needs is decent sales figures to make sure Honda stays strong-footed in the Indian market. Also, gather good feedback for developing new small and compact SUVs for our market.
Let the reviewers be disappointed! Nothing harm in that. Ppl will appreciate it if it drives well and pocket friendly.

The sale of it is gradually decreasing inspite of its hybrid engine. So Honda company has taken correct decision not to introduce a hybrid engine in it rather to introduce a electric version within a couple years. A major advantage of Honda Elevate is, it is coming within a pocket friendly budget.

    • @ICN

That’s because sedans anyway don’t attract much buyers in India. Look at the sales figures of Hyryder’s hybrid versions, they contribute highest in the total sales. Waiting period for hybrid variants range from 6 months to 12 months. Maruti Suzuki still attracts over 30% bookings for its strong hybrid variants, though they don’t produce them enough and are unable to retail those many (since Toyota produces more hybrids for themselves). In short, there’s huge demand for strong hybrids in the SUV segment. Even the pricier premium MPV Toyota Hycross is in phenomenal demand.

This car is perfect with not so Fancy ,Yet Strong and Reliable Car Lovers!!!!

This is just Honda’s response to FOMO(fear of missing out) and nothing else. With no engine options and any USP , it is anyone’s guess about the seriousness of Honda towards Indian market. The strategy is very clear, use the excess capacity of Honda city assembly line to cushion losses. This could well be the last try for Honda at India and if the sales don’t go well, one could well see an exit from Indian market. Ofcourse Honda has quality and reliability, but does Ford ring any bell?

The design elements are all straight and upright. I still feel that in spite of so much hype for years together about the next gen SUV from Honda and all, this is no where near to the competing leaders :
    Advantages of Creta/Seltos :
    Interiors and brand loyalty
Multiple engine options including petrol (both NA & turbo) and diesel
    Advantages of Grand Vitara :
Interiors and Maruti trust and reach
Multiple options like Hybrid engine with class leading efficiency
All Grip tech with class leading 4X4 abilities with a good ground clearance of 210mm
I don't know if they will be able to maybe aggressively price at atleast at the launch to attract those Honda loyalists.
    Let us wait and watch.

Maruti buyers are now virtually facing black-marketing of cars. outlets/showrooms have created artificial shortage of cars. Maruti dealers insist that if one is prepared to buy Insurance for 55000/- (instead of 20000/-, buy Zero Dep/Extended warranty for 60000/- and buy costly and unwanted accessories, the waiting period can be waived, and car can be delivered in no time otherwise the waiting period may be extended by 5-6 months. DDS Ravi has himself highlighted this issue in this posts. I have also faced this situation. A sting operation on this issue OR interviews with prospective buyers would do a great service to the cause of car buyers.

    @icn studio
Hello Vikas ji, this is my first post in this amazing forum.
I'm a 32 year old salaried employee with a wife and a kid of 3 year old. I'm planning to buy a car, my first car. Will all the things to consider around and so many options available in the market, I'm just stumped and unable to decide anything. Let me say my requirements first.
    1) Budget is 10 lacs (on road) with 10% variation on both sides
    2) It doesn't matter whether it is sedan, heatchback or compact suv
    3) Car should be a safer car, and would be used as family car. Definitely no to a car with 2 or lower ratings.
    4) My commute is majorly in the city, hence, an automatic. However, once or twice in a six months I may need to travel on highway (450 kms one side). highway road conditions are good.
    5) Mileage is not a major concern for my usage, however, a good mileage is definitely an add on.
    6) Since I will be spending considerable time in the car, a good interiors and ride comfort would definitely sway my decision (including good infotainment system)
    7) I live in Pune, which has many hills and accordingly many roads with considerable slopes. So, is it required to have hill hold control for an automatic. If so, that would also become part of my requirement.
One other thing, I'm a novice driver, well, pretty much basic.
Cars I have considered, why and why not?
    1) Honda Amaze CVT
Why? Honda brand, post sales services, CVT under 10 lacs, smoother and reliable family car (as per reviews), safety ( 4 star GNCAP rating)
Why not? poor infotainment system (relatively), Slightly poor engine response (as per reviews because of CVT), no cruise control.
I am not sure about hill hold control in Honda Amaze
    2) Altroz DCA
Why? Good looks, good ingress and egress, safety (obviously), good speakers (as per reviews),
Why not? Unreliable post sales services of tata, unproven DCA transmissio in for Tata.
I am not sure about hill hold control in Altroz DCA
I have only listed those two option as I didn't consider cars with AMT transmission (as they are not true automatic transmission). If any AMT cars are good, I'm open for them as well. Thought about new Baleno also, but, not so sure about marutis build quality.
I have also not considers Nissan Magnite CVT and Renault Kiger CVT as their future in india looks diecy.
Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Harsh Shah

    • @ICN
      @ICN  Год назад

Hi Harsh, welcome to the community. Thanks for the kind words. Coming to your query, of the two cars you have picked the Amaze CVT makes a lot more sense. It’s reliable, and is pretty spacious for a sun-4 metre sedan. And like you mentioned, it lacks the engine punch. So if majority of your drive is going to be in and around town, it makes perfect sense. On highways, you’ll have to plan you overtakes. If you drive sedately, then it’s a no problem. Hope that clarifies your confusion.

Honda elevate is best suv in current market, ventilated seats won't bother much as Honda cars have superb AC performance, they have ADAS and parking sensors, cameras on indicators, so 360° Camera won't bother much as well, and sunroof is good, electric seats is not a big issue, the Big pros in Elevate is- Engine and safety and build quality, mileage and price, space, ground clearance, AC and awesome exterior and enterior, luxury feel, big screen etc etc., So guys Honda elevate is a best SUV so far, do not listen these people, it provides each and every required things which should be there in any car.,

If they gave this with 360° Camera, front and rear dashcam, ventilated seats, radar based ADAS and without electric sunroof then too it would be a good choice for most. Turbo engines they won't introduce now seems like bcz govt focus is more on EV vehicles. Why would they wanna invest on something that can't fetch them revenue for a longer duration. Better they too start giving CNG too as an option for mileage concious

Maruti dealers are forcing the car buyers to pay for undesirable expenses. The Dealers of Maruti, forcing the car buyers to buy Extended warranty, costly insurance (55000/- instead of 20000/-) and accessories can not exist without the knowledge of Maruti Suzuki administration. Now the solution - (A) After booking the car, mail your complaint to the Maruti chairman, every second day, asking him to communicate the expected date of delivery. (B) Inform Insurance regulatory body that despite the fact that a person can opt for insurance as per his choice, Maruti show room insists to buy the costliest insurance. (C) Maruti does not mention on their price list that Extended Warranty is optional and everybody is free to buy insurance from any company. (D) Request the Insurance Regulator to cancel the Insurance license of Maruti Suzuki for their malpractices. (E) Write to Industries Minister/Secretary to order an enquiry against Maruti Udyog and suspend their car making license till Maruti Udyog rectifies their malpractices. (F) Every show room should be under mandate that the optional nature of Maruti Extended Warranty and Insurance should be boldly mentioned on price list and at the entrance of the show room. (G) Online facility of checking the allotment of cars against booking should be mandatory and be under the control of the industries ministry. (G) Go for sting operation and post it on every channel. ....... I understand that my post will be brought in the knowledge of Sri Shashank Shrivastav, the dynamic Executive Director of Maruti Udyog, and he would do everything in his control to restore the faith of the buyers in Maruti. If thigs do not improve fast, Nexon and Altroz will become the first choice of the buyers. Maruti, already ages behind in Electrical Vehicles is doing everything to tarnish their well-built image, courtesy, their mean deal ship. Maruti, act fast lest you face the fate of Daewoo, Ford etc.

In my opinion it has a really subtle design and it's gonna look as fresh in the future too because of it's simplicity not like kia or hyundai which just keeps updating their cartoonish design language. It has a bold road presence as this is what indian buyers want. A ground clearance of 220 mm which nobody is talking about is really impressive. Also honda is known for it's safety and good engine. So, please stop treating elevate like this. For the lower and mid variants if priced good it's going to make a good choice for the middle class family who want a well powered engine a good ground clearance, a bold stance, and a simple and minimal design language.
Also to mention I can say, Honda has done a really good job to design this car according to the Indian customer requirements.
