@ChronoglideWatchmaking
I am a „hobby watchmaker " and your videos are sooo helpful.
Actualy you got me into watchmaking.
Thanks👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
You always explain yourself so clearly. Every time I watch your videos I learn something useful. I’m just a beginner but I really enjoy learning from you
Dereck, thank you for your kind words!
First ever comment on RUclips, and probably not another one for a very long time. Thank you so much for your clear explanations. I, like I'm sure lots of others, watch other RUclips videos on watch servicing. You, however, manage to get so much information across in such a concise and clear way that is great to be able to avail of. I work in a technical area far removed from the mechanics of watches, but I appreciate that people that understand their area can often simplify things. It's those that don't that fall back on jargon, acronyms and the complications. I'm hoping this particular video will help with finding the issue I'm having with a watch.
So simple and yet this process - this way of thinking and diagnosis - has helped me get a grip on watchmaking probably more than anything else. Thank you Kalle.
a great teacher,I enjoy watches and clocks , to learn how to repair them, if you could have the series in order from part 1 to the end in order, that would be great to learn better, he is a great teacher, with great knowledge and great humor in teaching
Excellent demonstration and explanation. Only thing that was not clear was clear visibility of pallet fork on right side, while assembling balance wheel. If possible, please demonstrate. The various function groups explanation was superb. It leads to more knowledge, acquisition of skill and systematic fault finding. Though I am not professional but have learned and understood your guidance clear enough to follow. Appreciate your efforts.
A lot of great tips in there, Kalle. The "hold the balance steady and manipulate the rest of the movement around it" is brilliant. The "function groups" method is fabulous as well. Many thanks indeed. Cheers.
You are simply a power house of great info, please do not stop. A much needed source of sight and sound. Great teacher and a wealth of experience. Please keep them coming. Steve from Iowa, 🇺🇸
Thank you for these two videos that teach a systematic way of organizing and grouping functionality tests, it’s much appreciated and your dad jokes are bad either!
In medicine left or right is from the perspective ot th patient. When you say the pallat fork should be to the right when installing the balance, do you mean towards the outside or the center of the watch?
That should e very helpful. The process and the balance placement. THANKS!
precise and concise, thank you
"Component Isolation" is such an important part of computer troubleshooting; I'm not surprised that it transfers to watch movements so well... Actually, It's more likely that watchmakers invented the technique since computer haven't been around quite so long!
I've seen your videos fir the first time today, and can,t stop.Tonight, when calm I,m going to continue practising.
Ruined marriage, hahaha.Manyany thanks for yoyr incredibly work
Thank you for your kind words and support! It can be addictive right? ;o)
Класс! Как всегда - всё доходчиво и подробно👍 Спасибо!

Very insightful, thanks!
Another very helpful and logical tutorial - I much appreciate your unselfish sharing of expert experience. I haven’t watched a video yet without learning from you. Thanks.
My pleasure Darren, many more to come!
This was very helpful! Thank you!
So nice to hear, David!
wonderful process. this helps so much.
Thanking you for your help
One of your most helpful sets of videos Kalle. Putting the balance in first before assembly and checking the action is brilliant.
Thank you so much Paul!
This is great. I’m not a professional but I do work in watches and I enjoy the work very much. Thank you for your great advices and great videos. It helped me on so many ways.
Looking forward for more videos and useful tricks from you.
Thanks a lot for this lessons! This is a master class for me!
So nice to hear from you Jose!
Excelent video.... Perhaps can you enroll the most usual defects and How to spot them.... I'm a Brazilian watchmaker ( hobbyst).... Thank you!!!!
Thank you Carlos! I try to do that during the live streams on tuesdays 20:30 Amsterdam time (15:30 Brasília time, if i'm not mistaken)
Again, many thanks for these valuable tips. I didn’t appreciate the importance of”backlash” of the train of wheels, and I’ve struggled a bit with installing the balance when I try to install it in a steady movement. Manipulating the movement rather than the balance makes great sense! These videos are really helpful in taking my skills to the next lavel!!
As an electronic engineer myself I agree with Kalle that the proper troubleshooting technique is very important. Is it plugged in? Do you have correct power from the power supply? Etc.
That's it Cornelio!
This is crazy, I'm an electronics engineer too. What is it about horology that attracts us?
@@Chipchap-xu6pk Well, what made you choose for electronics engineering in the first place? The magic of a bunch of siliicium parts that, combined make something tick? For electronic troubleshooting one needs an analitical mindset. The same goes for watch repair. And after all the frustration in our lives, from not being able to see what is wrong with a circuit, fault finding in a watch is much simpler, and more satisfying. No parts that release magic smoke, no frustrating feedback loops, just simple mechanical problems. Magic under your control.
Thanks 👍
Thanks Kalle, very useful series, really liked the test as you go processes! Often I find the placement of the balance complete the hardest bit.
I’m so glad I found you! Wonderful explanations and videos and a big help to rejuvenate to your watchmaking hobby. Thank you
Thnx Joey! Many more to come ;o)
Great video as always Kalle!
Thnx Sean, enjoy your weekend!

Hope it's helpful James!
Your Videos so helpful i love it :-) Thanks to you
Thank you for passing on your expertise.. it is invaluable! 👌
Have a Great weekend 😀
And to you Tony!
Very nice instruction as usual, as I took my first steps with Mr. Fried's manual my head adds more function groups and therefore more tests, The setting mechanism and The dial train. An excellent methodical way of working
You are quite right Gareth, there are more function groups. These were the real basics. Good luck!
Hi
You warn of IPA dissolving the shellac holding pallet Jewells, what do you use in cleaning machine or do you not put pallets into it.
Thanks
James
Thank you I found that very interesting. Your suggested method is logical and should save a lot of unnecessary assembly and disassembly 👍
That's it and because i am lazy, i would like to do it only once ;o)
Great to learn a god workflow. Its can save a lot of time ;)
Very important if you are lazy like me, LOL
Thats how I assemble, and test the function groups as I go, it works. And yes that is how I install the ballance, and there was me thinking I was uneqe 😆
Hahahaha, great stuff John!
Respect
Great!
Thnx!
TOP notch‼️®™️ ☑️☑️
