My take on this is, Nora met Bennet-Hawkins while boarding with her friend. They began a relationship, though I don't think it was sexual. Maybe the promise of love and commitment once they move in together, but Nora and he would have to come up with a plan so she could leave home. But I think Bennet-Hawkins was actually grooming Nora and planning to pimp her, which is why he only needed one bed, one chair etc., he probably wanted the finer mattress because he hoped to have johns of substance. Once Nora left home thinking she and her new love would become a couple she was informed what her real purpose was and she didn't accept that. An argument ensued and out of fear, maybe Nora said she'd report him he strangled her. I would like to know what this man did for a living. He himself seemed quite well off. I love that one, because it hit close to home. My grandma and aunt lived on Greenwich St in San Francisco. San Francisco was beautiful then (not now), and that's the most lovely area. Hawkins most likely fled the country. My questions are: why did he rent property if he already had a home? Why did he strangle Nora? Did his wife not think it was weird that he randomly walk around wearing a fake mustache?

Strange to hear addresses I live near and pass every day in one of these episodes. I literally live on the same block Nora was found dead in. That's literally my neighbour's house. It was extremely interesting. Poor little girl. I really wanted to know what exactly she was involved in. Guess I'll never find out. Still had me on the edge of my seat, so no complaints here.
He must have fled to South America or somewhere really remote. So many unanswered questions. All the things he had to do,was it for the joy of killing? The fact he got away and was never seen again, shows he planned to happen the way it did. Haha! Gets the mind thinking! Thanks Brief Case !
I like watching, well, listening to these cases as I go to sleep at night, and I liked the twist of it being unsolved at the end. nice bit of a twist there. you should throw one in like this once in a while, keeps us paying attention. good channel all in all, and the stories are good.
I feel like detectives a hundred years ago did thrice the amount of work that they do now. Now they just rely on forensic techs to solve everything for them and few do much footwork.
Have you considered that the techs must have something to examine ? That's where the police come in. They FIND the evidence that is the foundation for any case. Techs would be useless without them.
I remember hearing about this case. You channel is getting better and better with your unique cases. You should do more unsolved cases. I may email suggesting some unsolved cases you would like!!

I like when it's from the point of view of the victim, because when it's from the point of view of the killer some part of me hopes they'll get away with it. It's just when I hear about their childhood I start identifying with them. Sadly for this one, I really wanted him to be caught and he wasn't!
Oh Nora oh little poor Nora...what did that Slizzy do do you...and somehow I believe that the killers wife was involved in one way or another...false mustaches and she washed his blood stained clothes .! ! ! Hope Nora R.I.P 🦋🌟💙
Lovely young woman, and all she wanted was to help her mom. The detectives were doing everything possible to track this man. For a moment it seemed they were close in finding him. This is not his first kill, he has been changing his appearance, residence and had the money to do so. Probably was married...🤔Hmm? Why wasn't his photograph circulated? Or mentioned in the Newspapers, his choice of cut of meat? This could have brought in more restaurant owners, and staff as eye witnesses to this case. Something is missing, besides the murderer. He got away too easily sir, someone helped him escape. Maybe someone assigned to the case knew him, and warned him. I hope and pray I'm wrong. Thank you for the case file sir. This is definitely a tragic story.
Its my belief that the murdered had an obsession with the girl. So he wooed her, groomed her, rented, the room - furnished with the bed, mattress and sheets- specifically for the sole purpose of luring, violating and finally murdering poor Nora.
Something is amiss in this story. This fellow seems more like a con man with things going on on the side rather than a murderer. Was he setting Nora up as A prostitute and wanting o sell her services to other gentleman? Something went wrong. He likely killed her but there’s a chance somebody he was associated with did the killing. He may have have been being killed himself and disposed of.
I've noticed that you've begun naming your videos after the victims, rather than the killers. Thank you for that.

Thank you very much :)
This was sure unreal. To think they never found out what was going on.
Well how could they??? It was a long time ago they didn’t have all the fancy stuff like now
Wow, she seemed so excited to get a job and start helping the family and she was taken advantage of for her innocence. It also hurts to hear how much the mother loved her and thought of her safety.
Thoroughly mesmerizing, BC! As usual, thoroughly investigated and narrated.
Tragic this naive young lady was killed. Even though the murderer is identified, it is justice denied.
Enjoy hearing your narration! I'm currently stuck in bed recovering from Back surgery...this gave me something to look forward to.
Keep up the Awesome work and Stay Safe!😷
Thank you Briefcase!!!! I agree with Compendium! I posted Ocey Snead's case ...you covered the tragedy of this young girl at the hands of two avaricious old bags, with compassion and gave Ocey her day in the court of public opinion!!! This would have meant more to her than anything. Ocey and Nora give you two thumbs up!
What become of his wife? Could she have been involved?
*Great job Brief Case!* I absolutely loved this one! It’s so sad to think that there were *_predators_* even back then.
There have been predators from the beginning. I'm sorry. I get irritated when people act like this is something new.
I appreciate that you named this case after the victim and not the killer!
Hello, Yes I am starting todo this on some cases of course on this one we do not know who the perpetrator was
Another fab brief case. Loving your stories. A suggestion. Add “unsolved” in the title?? Love your channel
Thanks, this is the first one I have done, so was not really sure what to do :)
Good idea.
@Briefcase you did a fab job.
Brief Case you did a great job x
Marleen's Crafty Space Excellent idea! I like being _”prepared”_ when dealing with cases like this. It kind of mentally prepares me that there is no outcome to this. That way when you tell your most excellent *”brief case”* we know that the perpetrator is still out there OR never was caught. Who knows, maybe somebody will see that picture and will be like, *”Hey, doesn’t that look like great uncle Fred?”* Or maybe, *”Uhhh, that picture looks an awful lot like Great Grandpa doesn’t it?”* Then maybe they’ll call in to the cops and the mystery can be solved. Hey, one can hope right? LOL
I really liked listening to this story. Please make more. I love your channel. Your voice is very soothing for these nervous times. Thank you
Thankyou so much :)
My name is Glenda I am using my husband's phone and I just got the notice from brief case.i have my waffles ready and a cup of Hazel nut coffee,so let the games begin. Everyone please take care of yourself and your loved ones may God bless us all during these trying time's.God bless.
Thanks Glenda 😊 Stay safe and God bless you and your family 🙏
God bless you, too!
Welcome, Glenda! Likewise.
What a sweet comment
Hi Glenda, I got tired of listening to music while working at my desk so I found briefcase about 6 months ago, I listened everyday until I caught up. Now I listen to briefcase everytime I see there is a new one.. love this guys voice, it makes the story even better. Jackie, Ohio
I love that one, because it hit close to home. My grandma and aunt lived on Greenwich St in San Francisco. San Francisco was beautiful then (not now), and that's the most lovely area. That's fourteen blocks from where I visited my aunt and grandma! Poor Nora! She was doing the right thing for her family and herself.
~ poor San Fransisco, totally overtaken buy liberals, needles and shit on the footpaths, why do the locals put up with this? Tent cities, 50,000 homeless people, do they still have any tourism? I am sorry but it looks like a shit-hole from here...sorry guys 😞
@@NannupTiger I don't live in CA any more and won't move back. Still visit twice a year. It's so sad. SF still has tourism and nice areas but not like it was. California's a sanctuary state. People literally defecate on the streets. So degraded.
Your Meat No. this is what happens when you elect liberal nutjobs to run your state and turn a blind eye to crime in exchange for votes. All “sanctuary states” will end up like this. Then the idiots get sick of it, move to a red (republican-ran) state like texas but don’t change the way they vote and have the audacity to pretend to be surprised when the same shit starts happening there. Pathetic
Hawkins most likely fled the country. My questions are: why did he rent property if he already had a home? Why did he strangle Nora? Did his wife not think it was weird that he randomly walk around wearing a fake mustache?
There is a Tenderloin neighborhood in San Francisco. It’s been a seedy place during the years when I would be in San Francisco. It seems a stretch to think the name of the neighborhood is related to this case, but now I’m curious.
There's some information about the neighborhood's history here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenderloin,_San_Francisco#History
Poor Girl for having her father disappear when she was a young age.
I know it's sad 😔 and strange....
I pity the wife. She lost her husband and daughter.
Agree. My mother's father died when she was barely six. It scarred her for life. Good point, Barry. Nora's mother lost her husband then her own daughter, while Nora was trying to help the family. Horrible loss.
@@Dawn-iu8nx
My Father died suddenly when I was only 11 years old. It's very rough to grow up without a father! My father was a wonderful dad and husband and I still miss him greatly!
@@barrymichlowitz1071 I forgot about her husband. Lost so she never knew what happened to him! And they never found the killer of her daughter. That's far too many mysteries for one poor woman.
Sit back while we go to the early 20th Century...yet another great Brief Case! Always finds the cruel and unusual among us
It’s interesting to hear the addresses. I kinda know San Francisco, and can picture approximately where they are.
My mouth dropped open. I liked this one and I'm glad you're featuring unsolved cases as well. As always, great job. A healthy, happy holiday season to you and yours!
Merry Christmas :)
Good morning, Brief Case! Hope you're well! Was counting the minutes!🌞🌞🌞
Yeah, me too!
@@meemurthelemur4811 have a good day! Doesn't Brief Case make Monday so much better??🌞🌞
@@reneecatagnus2344 absolutely! I think we should petition for more! Have a good day and stay safe!
@@meemurthelemur4811 where do I sign?
I like the surprise!
I never get tired of this channel. Even though its back int day its still new to a lot of us. 👌
Strange to hear addresses I live near and pass every day in one of these episodes.
I literally live on the same block Nora was found dead in. That's literally my neighbour's house. Less than a 2 minute walk from me.
Weird to think this very city, these very streets and buildings have seen drastically different lifetimes and kinds of people.
Yes it is, I found out some very interesting things about some of my friends houses, if only walls could talk :)
Chris an old friend of mine was murdered in his home by a prostitute. i had rented a room from him. one morning at breakfast he introduced me to a seedy-looking youg person. afterwards, i felt unsafe so i moved out. a year or two later i got a call from a mutual friend about the murder. tragically, i was not surprised.
As a native San Franciscan ,I feel sad that these things happened 😔😢 in the city by the bay !!!
I’m addicted to Brief case. The way he speaks tells a clear story and every detail comes to life. Thank you for your videos
Thanks :)
I love the idea of unsolved cases on the channel. Did they ever determine if Nora was pregnant when she died?
I have never read that she was
I wondered the same thing.
@Veronica Smith because it wouldn't be the first time a man lured a young girl (any aged woman really) into a relationship, got her pregnant and then killed her when he found out.
@@MichaelaH2059
I wondered this myself. He had his fun with her and then when the piper came calling he bailed. Taking care of his "problem" by killing her on the way out.
Exactly my way of thinking... he seduced her, impregnated her, and then got rid of the "problem". Poor girl.
What a sad story - and with such an ending! I am so glad that I am a woman living in this century. Back then women were so vulnerable.
Poor sweet Nora just wanted to help her family.
I'm so happy to see your newest Brief Case. Always so well spoken and investigated. Thank you, I hope you and your family are safe and well in your part of the world. With Love and Gratitude. 👩🏽💻💋
You always do a good job. I love your accent and delivery of interesting cases.
Thank you very much :)
Yet another wonderful video.
Didn't realized that this was your 1st unsolved case. If you hadn't said so at the end.
Keep them coming. They're all really great & well done 💖
Thankyou so much :)
"if you can't come at 1, come at 6"
How me and my friends used to organize meetups before cell phones 😁
Thanks, Brief Case. Unsolved murders always get to me because I think of the hell that parents and other family members must have gone through for the rest of their lives.
I was a little disappointed and shocked this morning that it wasn’t solved! I really thought they would have found him. Are you going to be mixing it up now with solved and unsolved cases?
Hello, I had not planned to, just thought I would do one as I had read so much about this case
It was extremely interesting. Poor little girl. I really wanted to know what exactly she was involved in. Guess I'll never find out. Still had me on the edge of my seat, so no complaints here.
This case could easily have been solved today.... With DNA, fingerprints, technology and stuff. I love vintage unsolved cases.
I consider it solved, but justice was never served.
@@Dawn-iu8nx
Yep, they figured out who did just couldn't find him.
Thankyou so much :)
They examined 32,000 address change notifications. That's some stunning gumshoeing right there.
That's for sure, when these days it could be done in the minimal amount of time. Not in those days. Great dedication.
Thanks BC, always listen more than once and love to read all the comments.
Good wishes 🙏🏼 ❤️ 🍀 🗺️ 🏴
I feel like detectives a hundred years ago did thrice the amount of work that they do now. Now they just rely on forensic techs to solve everything for them and few do much footwork.
Have you considered that the techs must have something to examine ? That's where the police come in. They FIND the evidence that is the foundation for any case. Techs would be useless without them.
I remember hearing about this case. You channel is getting better and better with your unique cases. You should do more unsolved cases. I may email suggesting some unsolved cases you would like!!
I'm related to the fullers. Mysterious.
You just keep doing what you are doing. Doesn't matter if the case is solved or not, they are all very interesting and you do a great job presenting them! Thank you!
Thankyou
This was certainly an intense, convoluted, mysterious and disturbing case.
I’m sorry I got mixed up on the comments!! I’m a 65 year old great grandma and I’m still learning how to use my I pad!! I just want you to know how much I love your channel and your awesomeness!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Thankyou :)
I adore this channel!
Thankyou so much :)
What a powerful case. You out did yourself on this one Briefcase. It's sad that it went cold when it sounds like there were still loads to follow up. Thank you for sharing this case. Cold cases deserve to be remembered, so that maybe one day closure can be found.
Thanks :)
Thanks s much for another excellent story. My hope is that he was caught under another name and authorities did not link the two cases. Predators don't normally stop, if he got away with it once, he would keep on killing.
Every word you say I hear very well and understand I m happy with you the narration is fantastic thank you again 😑🙏
San Francisco was a very transient society at that time being a major sea port. It was a simple matter to use a different name in the city because most people weren’t there very long and could escape anytime onboard ships.
Thanks B C for your amazing channel I’ve been binging on your channel, and I have to say every case keeps my attention from start to the finish !!!!❤❤❤❤❤
I like when it's from the point of view of the victim, because when it's from the point of view of the killer some part of me hopes they'll get away with it. It's just when I hear about their childhood I start identifying with them. Sadly for this one, I really wanted him to be caught and he wasn't!
Great start to Monday Brief case, thanks for that
Plus...they think the killer committed suicide- had been an accountant for a newspaper, and poor Nora...no record of where she was buried exists.
Very well done crime investigation BCase! Great job on the video. Loving listen to you. Thank you
Oh Nora oh little poor Nora...what did that Slizzy do do you...and somehow I believe that the killers wife was involved in one way or another...false mustaches and she washed his blood stained clothes .! ! ! Hope Nora R.I.P 🦋🌟💙
How awful and heartbreaking this case was never solved! Thank you the excellent video.
Thanks for watching
I've seen many cases like this one of young girls being MURDERED back in this era.... Truly sad
Man you got me snuck me into an unsolved! Many have tried sir but , you were the successful one! Bravo 👏
Find it interesting that you add unsolved cases, there are so many!! Great work
Thanks :)
Great case! That poor girl. It seems that people were despicable a century ago as now.
Great video- impressive presentation!
I enjoyed the mysterious, unsolved aspect.
Thank you!
Its my belief that the murdered had an obsession with the girl. So he wooed her, groomed her, rented, the room - furnished with the bed, mattress and sheets- specifically for the sole purpose of luring, violating and finally murdering poor Nora.
I always enjoy listening to your stories and your voice adds The Perfect Touch keep up the great work
Thanks :)
Tom Aaron I was thinking the same thing. Much like the sex trafficking going on now. Poor girl😰
yo I am so early
Yo, it's okay. That's sweet and funny. Aww. I don't know why, your comment just is cute . 💖✨✨
BC, excellent as always. Your attention to detail is greatly appreciated, as is your departure into the realms of the unsolved. Thank you.
Thank you so much :)
