Hope he never stops making youtube videos to prove all along he was right about what he teaches while everyone else loses there health and fitness.

    I would ask a question of your critique of disk brakes. Like how long would a carbon wheel last with rim brakes? Because I got to tell you, I am looking at my wheels and thinking those rims are getting thin. As for the wheels themselves, what is the life span of race wheels? because at 84kg I was apparently too heavy for the race wheels on my GIANT bike. The rear wheel failed with a spoke giving way and scratching up my calf muscle. Been on Shimano trainers since, no problems. Of course I have never been a racer.

      Looking thin is not the same as measuring thin. Have you got an Iwanson gauge, used in dental work. Spokes break for many reasons, your weight is not very excessive, but all riders need to check wheels regularly as they do take the brunt of potholes etc.

    Harley, don't you feel like it makes no sense that a disc brake bike would be slower? How much heavier is a disc brake bike? This is disappointing to hear from you, because I remember the days you would say 1 kg off your body is way more important than 1 kg off the bike, when you would say how important pacing yourself with a power meter is, when you bought that Reid Osprey with a Sora (I think?) groupset and would keep up with fast riders to show how it's not about the bike (other than bike fit and pacing and being fit of course). Now I keep hearing you say things that make no sense even on paper, let alone in the real world (i.e you keep getting dropped by these ''slow'' bikes, yet that doesn't make these bikes any less slow in your view).
    EDIT: Btw, I love rim brakes for all kinds of reasons, and have rim brake bikes myself. But discs have the advantage of not wearing your rims. Whatever the reason someone chooses disc brakes (even if it's for posing on Instagram!), they are not getting dropped because of their disc brakes. What kind of pathetic excuse is that? What if someone said they got dropped because they only had 9 speed. Or because they had square taper and not BB30? Or a tapered steerer. Give me a break.

    • @durianriders
      @durianriders  12 дней назад +1

      What’s faster up a hill? 6.5kg or 7.5kg? All other variables the same.
      WHY carry excess weight up a hill when you want to go your fastest?
      Yes I will beat 99.9% of riders on earth today on my xc bike with fat soft tires because of my fitness BUT does that mean that bike is the best choice?
      Context is of importance💯

    • @Orgakoyd
      @Orgakoyd 12 дней назад +1

      @@durianriders Racing minimum weight is 6.8 kg. Anything lighter is for people who post on ''weightweenies'' instead of training. And real practical race bikes are often seven point something. And we're talking about Tour de France bikes at this point.
      Most cyclists are losing minutes instead of seconds, so as long their bike is around 10 kg it's light enough. Your bike choice is not the reason you get dropped, unless you're placing top 5 constantly.

    • @Orgakoyd
      @Orgakoyd 12 дней назад +1

      @@durianriders Here's the math. 70 kg rider, 7.5 kg bike, total =77.5 kg. 70 kg rider, 6.8 kg bike, total = 76.8 kg. 77.5 kg divided by 76.8 kg = 1.0091. That is a 0.91% increase in weight, i.e less than 1% increase in weight.
