I remember playing a lot of Sonic Adventure 2 when I first watched this movie as a kid... Brink & Val's rivalry reminded me of Sonic & Shadow, because of their personalities and the team colour was the same as the auras in the game... Such a cool movie...
3:57-4:12 still to this day some of the most impressive athleticism I ever watched growing up., Watching them fly down the hill like that at an early age was so impressive to me. If that's really them and not stunt doubles.. mad props and mad thumbs up dudes. Major skills.
I remember this coming out right at the end of Summer Break and wanting to get into rollerblading so bad for the new school year thinking how cool I'd be if I could roller blade to school since I lived like half a mile from school. lmao 90's was such a special time and when the Disney Channel truly peaked in content
Brink should’ve taken the position as Captain of Team X-Blades… He could’ve brought his friends along as the Captain and they would’ve all been paid to do what they love!!! They could’ve had their own facility to skate in, changed the image of the company, won more tournaments together and made the whole experience fun by just being themselves. At the end of the day it was really just Val who was toxic and that doesn’t mean being a sponsored skater is a bad thing... His Dad would’ve been proud of him for making the more responsible decision as well. EVERYBODY WINS!!!
I lived in Elizabeth NJ when I was younger and I skated a lot. I got about a dozen neighborhood kids to get rollerblades with me. I skated better backward than forward. So all I had to do was "show off" skating backward a little, and within a month, that kid had skates because they wanted to do the same. I like to think Skating kept a lot of kids out of trouble; especially in that neighborhood. This movie and Airborne was my jam!
Okay but that smirk by Val right before the race is the most psychotic expression ive seen in a while. I mentioned it elsewhere, he looks unhinged and its stuck with me for 25 years.
