Shortly before his death, Tozer wrote: "Another kind of religious leader must arise among us. He must be of the old prophet type, a man who has seen visions of God and has heard a voice from the Throne." I am convinced that Aiden Wilson Tozer himself was such a man.
In his 1948 classic The Pursuit of God, Tozer challenged the stiff and wooden quality of many Christian lives. He noted: "Complacency is the deadly foe of all spiritual growth. Acute desire must be present or there will be no manifestation of Christ to His people." Indeed, Tozer believed that thirst for God was the sign of coming revival.
Tozer's passion for a deeper knowledge of God led him to study the great devotional writers of the past. "These people know God, and I want to know what they know about God and how they came to know it," he observed. Prayer and worship were the hallmarks of his life. One biographer states that his preaching as well as his writings were simply an extension of his prayer life. Another noted that Tozer spent more time on his knees than at his desk.
He called for a return to astonishment and wonder at the majesty of God. Then he added: "The God of the modern evangelical rarely astonishes anybody. He manages to stay pretty much within the constitution;very well-behaved, very denominational and very much one of us."
In modern evangelicalism, contended Tozer, we work, we have our agendas--in fact, we have almost everything except the spirit of true worship. He defined worship as a humbling but delightful sense of admiring awe, astonished wonder and overpowering love in the presence of the unspeakable Majesty. He reminded the pastors, "We're here to be worshippers first and workers only second; Out of enraptured, admiring, adoring souls God does His work. The work done by a worshipper will have eternity in it."
Tozer believed that worship rises and falls with our concept of God and that if there was one terrible disease in the modern church, it was that we do not see God as great as He is: "We're too familiar with God. ...that is why I do not believe in these half-converted cowboys who call God `the Man Upstairs'."
In the Preface to The Knowledge of the Holy, his last book, Tozer stated how important our view of God is: "The church has surrendered her once lofty concept of God and has substituted for it one so low, so ignoble as to be utterly unworthy of thinking, worshipping men. .. A whole new philosophy of the Christian life has resulted from this one basic error."
Tozer addressed the state of the evangelical church even more bluntly in Keys to the Deeper Life. In a chapter entitled "No Revival Without Reformation", he stated: "A widespread revival of the kind of Christianity we know today in America might prove to be a moral tragedy from which we would not recover in a hundred years." The imperative need of the day, he affirmed, was not simply revival but a radical reformation that went to the root of our moral and spiritual maladies: "Prayer for revival will prevail when it is accompanied by radical amendment of life; not before."

The Lord is good, and keeps us in a world of wickedness. I just retired after 39 years of police work in a major city; I would have gone mad, had it not been for his grace and mercy, and the Lord’s constant companionship! We serve a great KING!

I now understand. I was wondering why I cant find another to speak of God constantly and of spiritual things constantly. Because of this my prayer life changed, I had to speak to the Lord and listen to His voice , I had no other. So now I pray the 'unusual'. Every minute of the day my thoughts are consumed with God. I'm alone in this world and that is the circumstance of Gods will for me so to honour Him I am happy with my lot. Now I pray to Him nightly that He consumes my dreams also . I crave to dream spiritual dreams, private, loving, tender dreams of The Lord. The world sees me as out of my mind, just another 'born again'. So be it. Amen.

After God gave me the Holy Spirit, by read the 10 commandments, I found proof that TV, movies, watching sports (violence like football, covet and idols), novels, music, video games and computer games are all sins, except Christian stuff that don’t have sins like sermons and Christian music words that gives messages. I found out that in them there is lying, stealing, adultery (Matthew 5:28 looking at someone with lust is adultery), fornication which is sex before marriage, revenge, murder, jealousy, pride=self-pity, hypocrisy, using God’s name in vain as a curse word, they are all idols (breaks 2nd Commandment) because most people can’t live without them and they love them more than God and more. Just read the 10 commandments for a list.

Now I will be preaching about how to receive the Holy Spirit and be 100% going to Heaven.
First, it’s only by the grace of God that he gives you faith in Jesus Christ in order to give up your sins. It’s only by the grace of God that he leads you to pray to him to destroy all your evil desires of watching TV or any sinful desires. When you pray to God to destroy all your evil desires of watching TV or sinful desires (Romans 6:6-7 and Galatians 5:24), Satan will intervene and extremely tempt you in watching the TV. But if it’s God’s will and if you are one of God’s elects, you will overcome it and God will destroy all your evil desires of watching TV. After God has destroyed all your evil desires of watching TV and if you are one of God’s elects, you receive the joy of the Holy Spirit for a short amount of time. After the joy wears off, all existence of boredom no longer exists and you no longer burn out (psychology) anymore. That is when you have received the Holy Spirit.
Then it’s by the grace of God that he forgives you of your sins, as you confess and repent of your sins (confess and not do those sins anymore) throughout your life which is called sanctification.
After you have received the Holy Spirit and have confessed and repented of any known sins that you have done, then you pray to God to get rid of all evil spirits out of you.
Say “In the name of Jesus Christ I bind and cast out all evil spirits out of me.” Then automatically your mouth will open and you will exhale all those evil spirits out of you.
The Holy Spirit is the permanent cure to boredom but it is only given to God’s elects. (Proof: John 14:26-27 and Philippians 4:7) The Holy Spirit also gives the fruit of the spirit.(Galatians 5:22-24)

Even before I was saved I was alone, now as a Christian I walk alone. Yesterday I felt alone and felt such shame, a man at church asked me who I hung around with and I said "really no one" and it brought tears to my eyes. This morning as I was getting ready for work I looked up Christian Sermons on YT, no special subject, but this video was the one that came up. OH that was GOD. This is the way he has made me. So I rejoice in my aloneness!

I to have been in isolation since 2019 when my wife and kids decided to leave and when Covid hit last year He really revealed to me His plan and purpose He had for my life which was to seek His kingdom with all my heart through reading , praying and meditating on His Word , to totally depend on Him for all my needs ( spiritual and physical ) , and to grow me spiritually so that I may better serve Him .. Just trust in the Lord as His ways are higher than ours and whatever situation He put you in is for a specific reason or plan He has for you .. May God continue to bless and keep you ...

A.W.Tozer was not saying that the Christian is a solitary figure. He is saying that the Christian must be prepared to be misunderstood by the world and by those who name the name of Christ but who do not truly walk with Him.

I was always different and never fit in in any groups. I turned to drugs and the world in seek of comfort from the rejection and pain. I hit a rock bottom and that's when the Lord picked me up out of a horrible pit. Now... to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
This world has nothing for me

My wife and daughter moved out on the same day. My other daughters had lives as young adults, limited contact. The alone time with Jesus was all I had. I knew it was planned. I went through so many things relying completely on Jesus. The people that did make it through were used for trials by the enemy. The enemy communicated through friends and family. The very best times looking back were my low points, broken heart and spiritual battles with thise closest to me. It's because there is only one way to experience the greatness of GOD is when you are at your lowest. When my heart was broken emotionally and physically I had the most amazing realization of who Jesus is. It was worth every moment. I would not have any other life.
If you truly die to self and give everything to GOD then there will never be a situation that exceeds the commitment. I fear nothing because I have nothing I am not prepared to lose.

Jesus/Yeshua said He is not of this world. And if He is our King to come, we too are not of this world. We look for another country, a place where the Lord is, and so it will be Glory to God, all those who love His appearing will endure to the end and be like our God and Savior, obedient unto death if God wills it. We need to fellowship all the more as the day approaches. If this video has lead you to others who have the same mind, let's fellowship. The Kingdom of God is within us, let's rejoice and be glad.

My brother if you are called by God, he’s not leaving you alone. He has sent you the comforter (the Holy Spirit), to give you self control. Your best defense is to read, read, and read your bible. Devour your bible every time you feel the urge to SIN. Don’t give yourself idle time. And this too shall pass. Start with the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Preferably, start with John. I’ll be praying for you. 🙏

It crushes me to talk now to others I have known for so long who pronounce themselves as Christians but would rather speak of the things of this world than their glorious salvation and the Father's will. As the questions come to me as I seek Him and desire Him, there seems a burden for most to even ponder such things. I am alone until I break down before the throne and know I am not alone. He lifts me in the Spirit and comforts me. He is my King and Lord. The tears flow as the living waters envelop me. Praise the Lord.

I know that not all loners are saints. Yet, God my Lord has made me click on this message even if I'm not intending to do so myself. For I've heard this already some weeks ago. But now, I've heard God speak to me through the same sermon. I've been recently struggling with a dilemma about my abiding in Christ. My carnal mind always said to me that my loneliness is a result of my being unfruitful to God, the true vine. May be I'm unfruitful, but I'm partaking in God's will nonetheless by meditating on His word, in my daily natural and unintended isolation. Hallelujah!
I met Jesus at age 9. Ì have been alone for most of the time.
When I allow others who are not like mind l an stressed. Ì asked God to put praise songs in my head so not to allow the spiritualities in. Ì love God and I am his child. Jesus is intercede for me. Ì am now 81 years if age. Ì am back in the place I love the most praising God Almighty and Jesus our Saviour...God bless you all!
if you never been in these shoes , you wont understand what he is saying,
Especially when you feel the need to talk to somebody who will sincerely understand you but you just can't see anyone who will. And it makes you keep it to yourself because you will be told "You're not alone because you have Christ in you". They just don't get it! It breaks your heart and makes you feel like an alien in the church. Only God will listen the way you need to be heard.

This is the sweetest trip to the RUclips comment section I've ever had! Knowing that you all are out there is a major, major encouragement! I keep thinking, "why doesn't anyone see this beauty?! Why are even real converted Christians so interested in lesser things? Not necessarily sinful things. Just lesser." Maybe because I was saved later in life out of great sin, the value is more apparent to me; but when He saved me EVERYTHING else got the volume turned down to almost nothing. If ya gotta be alone, alone with Christ is THE way to go!

Likewise. It was the second time I had listened to it myself. Am truly curious what it is like to have an individual of a like mind as a companion or friend for more than a passing moment.
Having been raised in the church from birth and being the son of a pastor, it’s discouraging how few will or do understand the weight of solitude carried by those fewer for the expansion of His Kingdom. An even larger travesty is how many men that call themselves pastors are unaware of this burden themselves.

43 yrs saved n serving the Lord n caring for His sheep. I grew up lonely and poor. Here l am at 70 and still don't relish the lonely walk. I must say that the "lonely decades" have borne much fruit n me. Jesus is worth every sacrifice of a lonely heart .... there's a sweetness n comfort n peace that can be tapped into, only n His Presence. He is worth every sacrifice of loneliness n the only one that "satisfies our souls"

@classyt20f7 hi please don't be sad or angry. I believe there are times of looking back and wishing things had gone a particular way. I have found doing that illogical and another of the enemies plan 'guilt'. Loneliness can be combated. Go out and make someone who may feel lonely loved. Even if you can't get out of your home there is a thing known as telephone buddy. Don't accept the lie God has use for you. You are necessary to Him. It is well. Yeaaasssss...we often try to mix with the crowd and end up feeling disappointed because we are not of this world thou we are in this world. When The Father wants to deal with us, He leads us to the wilderness, apart from the crowd and the distractions for our own benefit. Yet we fail to understand this and very often try to exit from the place where we can grow in grace, discernment, true wisdom, mercy and seek human company. God is Good my brethren.

Yes , and the world and the earth are two separate things. Nature makes one feel at ease ,or at home feeling. The "world" in witch we reside is not the natural earth. It's a corporate world that worships everthing sinful and corrupt.

Nature is a place that helps me reflect on God’s glory. His creation is a beautiful gift that makes me feel less lonely.
After creation, God's first love was to walk in the garden with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. We love nature because God walks with us there. Perhaps more closely than anywhere for HE longs for those days when we walk side by side more aware than ever that HE is with us and HE is delighting in that special time with us.
I strongly encourage you to study Saint Francis of Assisi he did the same thing

I’m an ONLY child and l was use to being alone most of the times. The difference came when l gave my life to Jesus. My mom birthed me yet never understood me so becoming a Christian brought more strife and resentment towards me. My adult Son is so rebellious that we barely talk and yet l have inner peace! Only the Holy Spirit can give that kind of feeling on the inside! My heart breaks for humanity because being attached to the world means destruction. I have my days when l hope to have at least one human friend but my assignment calls for me to walk alone. So l press toward the high calling that’s in Christ Jesus. I see the long haul before l get there and l believe by faith that l will spend eternity in heaven and behold his face😊 That’s my life goal. Keep the faith Saints.

Right...finding some kindred spirits would be nice. I get told a lot that I'm "being religious". No, I just have a lot of alone time with God amd He shares His heart with me. It's sad to me that a deep relationship with a holy God is viewd as "religious" because I want my life to be a fragrant offering the the only One who is worth my adoration.

Hi Benjamin. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you Jam. 4:8. Surrender "everything" to Jesus each morning, yes your loneliness too, and you will experience Him in a whole new way. I think God is telling you to have those conversations with Him. Just as you spend time in prayer with God, spend time in fellowship with Him. Ask Him to search your heart and know you (He does) and talk to Him as you would a trusted friend. He will either lighten the things that weigh on your heart and/or remove those things that feel like burdens. Bless you!

Hi Traycee. In a desperate plea to God one day back in 2019, I asked Him if He did not mean for us to be alone, why was I still, after answering His call and moving from another province in 2015. And then I opened up RUclips and this short sermon was right in front of me. I knew this was a message from God, and yes I listen to it repeatedly if only to remind me how grateful I am that I gave my life to Jesus. These words made all the difference. And by the way it was in 2019 that God brought a wonderful Christian friend into my life.
Yes the message reflects my heart as well. I have bookmarked it so that I can listen to it repeatedly. We have such joy and love in Jesus and nothing else compares to Him so why is it so hard for believers to let go of the world and simply dwell with Him?
This word is so comforting and encouraging to all of us who feel lonely at times even in a crowd. This word motivates us to continue running the race looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. 🙏

In a season of being completely alone I had someone tell me that apparently God wasn’t enough for me. I struggled with that. And in my tears cried out “but Jesus you never created man to be alone. Not just relationships, but friends and family” I was left feeling ashamed for even feeling lonely. But I learned in my alone time with the Lord that it was ok to feel that way. Just because we feel lonely does not mean God is not enough. As a matter of fact it makes us cling to Him more! This was a great message!

Something I hadn’t had learned until even this past year is that guilt isn’t of the Holy Spirit. Derek Prince speaks about how guilt is used as a form of manipulation, manipulation being a form of witchcraft. And since God will never violate an individuals free will, Christians should be aware that guilt is a method used by the enemy after we’re redeemed. The Holy Spirit convicts, but it doesn’t use guilt against the flock.
Hope this helps in some way. Not trying to come at you or anything, just found it encouraging in my personal walk, so I thought it may help likewise.
To man the land was given to rejoice...the real challenge is how to rejoice after eating the fruit of knowledge of good and evil by living a life without sin, without breaking Father's commandments that were exemplified by Mashiach (Christ) in two that fulfil the Torah (law) and the prophets, to dedicate in love to Father above all things and dedicate in love to thy neighbour as to thyself. When chosen ones becomes part of the body of Mashiach (Christ) having the Saviour as the head (all mist be tested by the scriptures) in this world, one learns how to rejoice and becomes prepared for the coming next world.

Yeah, I was just praying about this alone thing ... and being hated for no apparent reason ... asking Yahuah "Why?"
I used to think that "I must be doing something wrong" I seem to be on my own. A trick of the enemy. I know now that I am not on my own in this walk. Like so much of God's economy is a paradox so is life, I am alone together with all others at once. We must die to live, poor to be rich, etc. etc.

One glorious day we will meet at the table and eat and laugh and never be alone again. Never cry and sob and be up and down in our suffering. In the midst our King Jesus will be there. Heavenly Father watching over us. Blessed are we that believe without seeing. Just imagine. Jesus face to face. I will be pouring tears of joy. He will wipe them away and I will feel the hands that have been holding us this whole time. We will see him fully and wholely. We will see each other. Oh the love and family. I desire family. At the table. The supper that Heavenly Father has been preparing for us since the beginning of time. We been watching the ingredients go in bit by bit. Line upon line. Precept upon precept. Here a little and there a little. A stumble and fall. A push and a pull. We will fully understand. We will laugh so hard our cheeks will ache but it will be an eternal joyful one. We will hear Jesus laugh. I can almost see it. Almost touch it. Soon and very soon we will see the King and we will laugh even more cuz we knew Him the whole time. He was with us at the beginning and he is with us now and be with us at the end. I can't wait!!!!

The loneliness and lonely is different, as Christian we pray alone in most of time, we feel the lord is inside and around us all the times, since my wife and I became obedience to gospel, we lost almost friends the only few Christians friends we have. Jesus said you with me or against me. We chose to be with the lord, no matter of circumstances. Jesus is our God.
Reading these comments just encouraged me so much...someday we will all form a family in which God is the center and we will constantly glorify Him through singing, dancing and uniting in warm embraces. Don’t give up my brothers and sisters, it is all worth it. This narrow road leads to an eternity with those who also love God. It is the only way the entire world can unite, through God. We have to endure and be faithful, the time is coming.

Take this time to use your loneliness to be with God, this is how we got the book Revelation when John was on the island of Patmos because of persecution, if he hadn't been alone we he wouldn't receive the revelation. Its a reason your alone use it wisely, because some people wish they had time to seek God, but so much is on their plate. Read the book by Francine Harris How To Receive The Holy Ghost. Type in the search bar. Life on the other hand is not easy because man is born unto troubles, as the sparks fly upward. I guess some of us was born to walk alone, but we're make it by the grace of God. Use your time wisely because some people don't have it. On the other hand we're all running out of it, look at the world and see what time it is.

The comments remind me I have siblings all over the globe experiencing the same struggle. Please keep me in your prayers that I would honor God wholy and completely until I sleep the sleep of death and await our savior from heaven.
I was outside working in the heat and got to really feeling alone. I was aggravated and depressed and came inside to cool off and listen to some worship music. I found this video instead. I am of the belief that God put it in there for me. I sure did need it. It sure did help. It really explained a lot.

Our loneliness in the world with Christ, I think is our gift to others. Like an untouched rainforest, people can experience the untouched beauty of our spirits that are saturated in the love and companionship of Christ.

This Lecture/Lesson brought me to tears more than once. It's so true. I eat , breathe, sing, exhale, run, walk, live Jesus Christ 24/7 and that's all I want to talk about. I am a widow and truly all alone and but even more so as a blood bought Believer. Thank you for this truth. I needed to hear this.
It brought comfort and joy to my heart to hear that my experiences of loneliness along this journey of faith are not a strange and uncommon thing among those who truly walk with Christ. Nobody seems to want to hear of the glories of fellowship with God-as if it's a dry and boring thing to hear-something to which they cannot relate. I praise our Father and the Lord Jesus for the sweetness of those alone times in fellowship with the Holy One...and yet I still yearn for human companionship. Sometimes it's difficult to distinguish what I suffer because of what I had sown in past unfaithfulness, from what I suffer for now striving for perfect faithfulness. Still so far from what my Jesus is...
....and yet the world tells us that whatever that's bothering our hearts, we pour it out and talk about it, because it is "healthy" . But there are just things that are better "kept in her heart", as Mary did - -things too profound that only you and the Lord can talk about it

Most of the true pain I've felt in this world came from trying to have people in my life. Your intellectual and spiritual freedom are precious and priceless. Learn to be alone is very pragmatic advice.

Thank you Lord for this confirmation. I did not realize how lonely the journey would be. An introvert from a teenager into adulthood.. after I became saved I was able to understand why I had very few friends, because You set me apart... but I was not prepared for my own family mocking and resisting my faith. I was not prepared for my eyes opening to my sin and growing in Christ, and not being able to share it. I thought that because my husband and I were baptized at the same time, our journey's would be identical. I thought that as I ran my race, I would be able to look around and see some familiar faces... some behind, some ahead... some running at the same pace... but I see no one on the path but me.

I read and read and read your text, for i see what i go through too! Being Alone with God. Only One seeking God with All of my Heart and i cry unto the Lord, " Thank you Lord! Thank you for choosing me to be adopted to your Kingdom of Holiness. Looking around and i am Alone Seeking you with the Mind of Christ. Let your Will be My Will and me Leaving All that is of the world and be fisher of men like Christ and His Apostles, let it be Lord.
I believe the reward God has for me is: To have a passion in my Heart to seek the Lost. Be a missionary one day and give the Word of God to men who don't know the Living God. If He is to send me to dry places or places filled with christian persecution, Let your Will be done Lord!

I've been a believer for 33 years, and have never felt more lonely than in the past 2 years. Friends and family have left or died, my parents are gone, my only brother has turned against me, and I have so far failed to find a marriage partner. I believe God has me in this season for a purpose, I'm just not sure if I'm reaching that purpose or just suffering. Or both. I just know that it hurts.

Amen! Going forward i will rejoice in my loneliness. God gave us this message to bless us and make us realize this is part of our calling...to be alone or to feel alone.
