- While fans eagerly await Doctor Strange’s return in the Multiverse of Madness, the digital release of Spider-Man: No Way Home has provided them the chance to pass the time by scouring every frame for fresh clues and fan theories. One such new theory proposes that there might be an exception to Strange’s spell in the film’s climactic ending. Dan takes a closer look at how Wong could be the only person left in the MCU who remembers Peter Parker on today’s episode of Nerdist News!

I don’t know about Wong, but ever since I saw No Way Home I’ve been commenting that Wanda probably has runes around her orchard so that nobody else’s magic can enter, and it’s already been stated that her power exceeds The Sorceror Supreme.

Yes, but Wong has been the Sorcerer Supreme (on a technicality) during this time period, not Dr Strange. Sneaky Marvel, they have only said Wanda is stronger than Wong, neither way about Strange.

What about Wanda? She might be the most powerful magic user in the MCU right now and was also powered up by the Mind Stone. This would also explain how she can call out Dr. Strange for breaking the rules in the Multiverse of Madness trailer.

At the end of WandaVision, Wanda was studying the Book of the Dammed, which is an ancient book of spells and unspeakable power. This can mean that Wanda herself could've found out a way to protect herself at all times. At the end of WandaVision, she also heard her kids which can revolve around thee Multiverse, but we need to remember that she was in the Astral Dimension, which could've helped. Our best theory, are the ruins of witched. Agatha tells Wanda that only the witch who cast the runes can use her magic, leading us to a possibility that Wanda could have been surrounded by runes so no one could harm her, causing Dr. Strange's spell to be effective less against her, causing her to still remember him.
Can we take a moment to respect the fact the Wong went from the Librarian's assistant (main Librarians were killed originally) to Sorcerer Supreme . That guy is willing to jump at every opportunity he can when someone dies or blips.

I really expected this theory to bring up the fact that Strange has cast this spell before: after the full moon party at Kamar-Taj. Wong doesn't remember the party, but Strange apparently does. This could be because Strange himself cast the spell, OR it could be because he was Sorcerer Supreme at the time. If the latter, Wong should be similarly unaffected by Strange's most recent casting of the spell.
Yeah I was thinking it was because Wong is now the sorcerer supreme. If the caster still retained their memory ala the full moon party then dr strange would still remember peters identity

I don't know about this theory because it might not apply to the whole Multiverse. I still like it though great video. I'm just glad we got to see ALL 3 SPIDER-MEN SWINGING IT WAS DOPE 👊. Andrew Garfield's hipster Peter Parker finally got the respect he deserves as both Peter Parker and Spider-Man when he made up for not saving Gwen Stacy by saving MJ which brought him psychological and emotional closure. Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man is the GOAT. I like that in this movie Tom Holland's Spider-Man/ Peter Parker finally fulfilled his purpose as Spider-Man taking responsibility to learn from his mistakes. Here's a great question: Are Wanda or Agatha affected by the forgetting spell? In WandaVision, Agatha is immune to Wanda's mind control powers, presumably by a spell. And presumably, Wanda has also since learned that spell. So, are characters who can protect their minds from mind control also immune to forgetting spells? And what about Loki, who was immune to Sylvie's mind-control powers? Lotsa a questions.

I understand the cinematic angle to it. This Spidey had it all going for him - MJ, Aunt May, Avengers gig. To get him to be as emotionally broke as the previous ones - they took away everything that Spiderman possessed.

Everyone here just not understanding that the whole point was that evil versions of everyone were coming through. Strange had to forget because there are obviously evil variations of strange in the multiverse, same as everyone else.
I thought Peter correcting Strange about the spell change count was in reference to the number of villains. It wasn’t the sinister 6 but instead 5 villains he had to face

I believe the mentioned 4 people: MJ, Ned, Aunt May, and Happy, and then added "basically anyone who knew I was Spider-man before Mysterio doxed me", which would make 5 alterations to the spell.

Only Deadpool will know that Spider-Man is Peter Parker, but also know he is Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.
I would say the only people probably definitely unaffected by stranger’s spell, depending on how the timelines match up, would be Loki, if he was in the weird time nexus thing, but he never knew who Peter was anyway. Also, I could see Wanda still knowing being that she’s a nexus being

Wong did ask Dr. Strange to "leave me out of it". So maybe that's exactly what he did.
I respectfully disagree with this theory. I don't think Strange would think far enough to exempt Wong from the spells. I thought Wong told Strange to leave him out of Peter's situation as in leaving him out of helping the world forget Peter Parker is Spider-Man. However, I also think it would be great storytelling that someone in the MCU would have a certain character quality that prevents them from forgetting Peter Parker. I do like the Sorcerer Supreme's immunity from spells, but I do need more explanation on that if that were true.
The spell must effect the entire multiverse if it sends everyone brought to this universe back to theirs, and also it brought them here so the spell is definitely not bound to earth… it travels the borders between known and unknown right?
My real question is what happens to the other Peter Parkers? Does everyone forget every Peter Parker? How does Peter Parker even remember himself?
This makes no sense. Wong has no reason to know who spiderman is after the spell. The only people that should know who Peter is are the ones mentioned by Peter in the original spell. Lately Marvel hasnt been honoring continuity or detail enough to make this a major plot point. While i agree it would be cool I just dont see it happening.

I've had to unsub like 8 channels who couldn't comprehend that some of us aren't going to theatres and just let spoilers rip left and right.

….probably not. If the spell is so strong that it even applies to the person who cast it, chances are slim that even the Sorcerer Supreme would be an exception. And this is coming from someone who wanted Strange and Wong to be the only ones who would remember Peter and all that has happened.

I have always been a huge fan of your videos. However you were driving me crazy in this because you keep referring to people not knowing that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. That was not the spell at the end of the movie. People have forgotten that Peter Parker even exists. That is a very different spell.
The spell made all of the alternate universe people forget who Spiderman is, it isn't restricted to the earth.

If the movie of Spider-man happens at the same time of Shang-Chi, he could be in the other realm, so far from the effect of the spell of Dr. Strange, and the same for Captain Marvel (offworld), and Professor Hulk can forget about Peter... but Dr. Banner no since he "wasn't there" when the spell was casted. A coincidence that everyone that wasn't there in the moment of the spell (on Earth) are reunited?

My big question is the details of the spell, it says everyone will forget... Well does that mean strictly like a mind wipe? Or is there physical changes to the world, because if it's only memories, there would still be videos, pictures, the shrine at the school, police reports for the lawsuits filed. Ect... Now if it does somehow delete all those physical things, everyone would just have a lost chunk of time which wouldn't make sense either, unless the spell also inserts false memories to catch up to the right time frame. I don't think there's any way that line miscounting the number of modifications to the original spell doesn't have some kind of meaning. It's way too specific to be a red-herring --- what else could it be applied to? -- and Marvel doesn't put in any filler like that.

This theory is almost as ridiculous as the “Goten is the reincarnation of Goku” theory. He clearly just didn’t want any part in it, he wasn’t saying to exempt him from the spell. It is doubtful that distance would have any limit on the spell, considering the whole point of the second casting was to wipe the information from the minds of those in all other dimensions to keep them from trying to come through to the MCU dimension. This is wrong if you listen to Doctor Strange dialogue about Spider-Man there is no mention of Peter Parker. Doctor Strange doesn’t even remember Peter Parker despite this is Doctor Strange’s spell but it also the spell affected him too. He is currently aware that Spider-Man exists but not Peter Parker himself.
