Alex!!! To all the truckers out there, don't lie on your application. I went through a 2 week orientation with a company, and on the last day they let someone go. If he would have been honest , it wouldn't have been a problem.
TMC, They do pay for orientation, and while you are with a trainer. The pay is a set amount, so you don't have to worry about how much you will make during that time. I don't know what the current pay is. I think it is a 2 week orientation and 4-5 weeks with a trainer. They have a lot of rules, but they tell you upfront , what they expect. As far as them hiring felons, I was not aware of that, but it could depend on the circumstances and how long ago it was. Just don't lie to them, that is one of their main rules. :)
Manslaughter is a type of murder charge, so it is going to be extremely difficult to find a company willing to take you. Usually, once you are able to get some experience, doors will open up for you, but most companies have a policy to not take those types of charges...ever. Your best shot will probably be to find an O/O with their own authority who is willing to be your mentor to train you how to do the job safely then put you in one of their trucks. You have a really tough uphill battle. But, that's not to say there is no hope at all. Just keep your expectations realistic and know that no matter how long since your conviction and no matter how much experience, most companies see you as too much of a liability with that type of felony.
Roehl Transport just denied me for their student driving program because of a felony conviction that is over 7 years old. I was totally honest and everything from the start and after a week of dragging out the recruiting process my recruiter calls today to let me know that I was denied due to a felony conviction from April 2011. So this list is by no means accurate. No fault to the creator but some companies will say they are felon friendly just to avoid the potential P. R. backlash that could occur if they openly reject felons. I mean...how are we supposed to be productive members of society if we can't get jobs that pay living wages?
If by student driving program you mean the companies school, then you may get a better result by getting a C.D.L. on your own. Then the company is not investing as much in you!
Bro I'm trying to get into the trucking game. I have a felony record for dwi's and want nobody give me a chance. I need help finding a trucking company that will give me a chance. Holla at ur boi an let me no something please
Hey guys 1st let me say this is a Great Video Second My situation is a little different, In 2016 I was in a rental car and got a speeding ticket doing 20miles over the speed limit. By it being in a different state I just paid the ticket to keep from having to travel. BIG MISTAKE Well in 2017 I got my class A an no one will give me a chance plus I have a felony conviction that from 2013 Could someone please Give me some insite on what my next move should be
Try Western Express. You didn't have a C.D.L.when you got the ticket,so it will leave your record on it's third birthday! If you only have 1 felony, you should be able to get it expunged! When you have a couple of years clean commercial driving, felonies don't matter as much!It is critical not to screw up again! If you like weed, find another career! Also get C.D.L.protector.They will have a lawyer go to wherever you get a ticket and fix it!You may have to pay.but they usually keep it off the record!Good Luck!

Carolina Cargo is no longer super felon friendly. They are much more strict with felonies now than they used to be.
