    The way stan came on to this game (Indian Wells) you could see it was more than a game for him. You don't see him like that every time. He needed this win. It should have been a straight set victory but went all the distance eventually he won. Enjoy him while he's here trust me he won't be playing tennis so long from now. Stan the Man !!!!!

    I do think Rune definitely acts like a baby but I understand why Rune can question him not saying anything at this latest match. Was Stan's words at Paris mainly motivated by the fact that he lost? Would he have done the same thing if he had won? That's the question.

    • @thehiddenfamily
      @thehiddenfamily Год назад +34

      Could be but I think it depends more on Runes behavior during the match. Was runes behavior better or worse during the next match? Obviously rune is asking because what Stan said really got in his head. Stan is not the type to just bash people for no reason and he’s lost plenty of matches before that one so I doubt the motivation is that.

    I have had nothing but huge respect for Stan, during the last 15 years that I've watched tennis. But that respect is gone now. Being a sour loser is bad enough. But being a sour loser while bullying your much younger opponent at the net is just disgusting. Where's the congratulations? Where's the "well played, good match" sportsmanship? Where's the example you set as a veteran of the game?
    Rune was right to ask him "you've got nothing to say now?"

    I 100% cannot stand Rune, but to be quite honest, Stan was the immature emotional person in that first exchange. He likely wouldn't have said that if he had won the match, hence Rune asking why he doesn't have anything to say after winning the second. Ppl are praising Stan in rhe comments, but what you all are really doing is praising the immature person that started it all. While in the same breath I can think Rune is a ridiculous brat that does need some discipline

    what Stan said to him at the net was also completely unnecessary. a player with his reputation shouldn't have done that where there are cameras and mics. i see that everyone wants to take it out on the kid. I realized too that he is got a bit of an attitude on the court and confident about his skills but let him show that. isn't that what we all want to see? why we try to neuterize every single up and coming young talent?

    • @SomeoneYouKnow2671
      @SomeoneYouKnow2671 Год назад +2

      Probably because many tennis fans play tennis themselves and know how annoying it is to play against someone who behaves like that?
      Also, I wouldn't call it neuterizing, it's an insistence on basic manners. It doesn't just apply to young talents, although they're more likely to have not learned them yet.

    It's good advice: It can only help Rune develop as a person. It's clear whatever hot-housing in his childhood it arrested a part of his development. By learning to behave more like an adult and getting feedback on that from REAL MEN, he can develop. In developing he'll end up a better player, a happier man and improve his relationships with everyone he interacts with. Good luck to him and well done Wawrinka for giving him some grounded advice to control his baby-ego and outgrow it.
    There's other sports stars who needed this advice and either did not get it because people pandered to them or else they did not listen and it cost them.
    I hope Rune can develop, the fact he tried to make a joke of it suggests he was trying to accept what was said which is a good start.

    For anyone out there who thinks this is the only time Rune acts like a baby… it’s not. He does it all the time. I don’t think it’s necessary bad as it gets him through. Wawrinka just letting him know about respect and conduct. Fair enough.
