Big enough channel for the "thanks" button. Clearest build of the same bench I have seen on elsewhere, but I like this one best. Clearest, easiest to progress with.
Thumbs up for not trying to up-charge me for cut plans, Ill be trying this out this afternoon! Edit:Finished it and it’s was harder than it looked in the video but thanks again
Thanks so much for this great video AND the FREE PLANS ! ! ! What a great design. Pneumatic Addict has one that looks identical BUT the want $8.00 for the plans. I have subscribed ! !
I built this last week. It's a somewhat flawed design that needs further refinements. The straps need additional support which I provided via sash locks and by using 2x4's to support the length of the top in addition to blocks under the table to prevent the top straps from moving. This also prevents the top from sliding out of the frame. Also, forget about building this in 2 to 3 hours. More like 10 hours. Mind you I don't have a table saw or a chop saw, only skill saw.
Yep, I just came across her video as well. However, you will have to buy her building plans if you need a hard copy of the plans:( but it was a good video. Glad you noticed it too.
I was thinking the same thing when I saw how easily it folded. Is there enough space to add small slide latches on the inside of the two panels? That is what I was thinking of doing if I build this bench.
@@lmcsquaredgreendale3223 Just finished building this. I did 2 things to "lock up" the unit during use. First I added blocking at the ends along 24" sides (screwed to the bottom of the bench top panel) to force the base to stay extended. Second I added plywood blocks using 1/4 x 20 bolts, washers and wingnuts that I secure just before putting the top on. They mount to the inside of the top narrow cross piece and the inside top of the wide cross piece. Note inside means the side without the hinges! The bottom narrow cross piece stays locked by itself once the other 2 locks are installed.
Great Video, awesome workbench and easy to follow instructions as well on the link. Too bad I hadn't stumbled on your channel earlier, this way I wouldn't have paid $6.25 for the plans on "Pinerest" for the same project. Thanks for sharing.
Yes! You can see the full how-to steps with dimensions and diagrams here: www.familyhandyman.com/workshop/workbench/saturday-morning-workshop-folding-mobile-workbench/view-all/
Well, if you actually attempt this, you’ll find their materials list is incorrect, you need 32’ of 2x4, not the 24’ listed, which means now I have to go back to Home Depot because I’m 8’ short...
@@alexmendez9380 No you are not. I am building this bench now. Just got to the part where I attach the folding panels. The plans cut list is wrong. I made mine slightly taller at 27.5" so cut the larger plywood panels at 16" which leaves me a 3/4" gap between the panels. Frustrating!
Great design, but the plans listed on the website have discrepancies. When folded this isn’t that stable. Overall great mobile bench, but definitely would use better plans, this is a subpar copy.
Has anyone else actually built this using the suggested materials list? I am about to, but my old brain is having an issue. It calls for an 8-foot 1x4. from this, you are supposed to get four 2x27 pieces. Ripping a 1x4 in half yields less than 2 inches and taking 2" from a 1x4 will give you 96" yet you need four 27" pieces which is 108". Think we are safe simply splitting a 1x4, or should we get an extra 1x4 (or 1x3)? Thanks!
Haven't built yet but am going to. 1 X 4 nominal are actually 3/4" X 3-1/2". So looking at the drawing I think ripping them down the middle would give you close 1-11/16" width allowing for the 1/2 of the kerf on each side. Gotta look at function of pieces to see if notch size or edge alignment needs adjusting. As far as 108", I'd get two 1" X 4" X 6' or one 10'. Don't see any reason why 3/4" plywood can't be substituted if 2" width is necessary.
@@raspberrytreacle I built this 3 years ago & used 3/4” plywood for all the folding parts. For the center I used 7 1/2” overall length strap hinges & looks like #10 x 3/4” flat head screws. For attaching to frame I used 3” butt hinges with what appears to be #6 x 3/4” screws. You should use screws appropriate for the hole diameter & countersink in the hinges you use along with the wood thickness. This is a very handy portable work bench. I use a 32 x 52 inch top. I recommend window sash locks for center folding panel rather than hook & eye. They’re more stable. Wish I could include pictures

Whats super cool is you can have a few work surfaces for different scale / type projects. Amazing job, great desgin!
Seriously, this is one of the best designs for a small portable workbench! !! !!!
this vid is one of the best! so quick and straight forward. no wasted time at all!

This is awesome! Thanks for the great plans
Thanks a lot - I made it by your instruction and it works!
Nice work bench
Is there a pdf file I can download for instructions and measurements?
This is great, thank you. I will build one in a few weeks when I get some time. :)
Very good. Excellent video
lako lako lakodio... well done man..
It's nice but I wish the video was in real time and maybe tell you a few things. I may modify it to make it a little bigger
Отличный стол получился. Все просто и быстро собирается. Молодец.
Good job .Thank you.
I built one, thanks!
Awesome idea and great easy workbench 👍
I just use an old door thrown across a couple sawhorses. Just might have to make this instead.
Can you use 1/2” plywood instead of 3/4”? Thanks!
beautifully done friend
I dont see a link for the plans?
Tolles Video und super umgesetzt 👍🤝🙋♂️
I,m like, Is beatiful.

He pretty much ripped it off from her. Edit: guess theres really no such thing in this world, be he didn't even give her any credit.
she got it from a magazine, and just added some sash locks and some reinforcement. but she sort of credited the magazine at least

Pneumatic Addict channel does this same build and actually walks through how to build in detail.

thanks for sharing the plans!
Thanks for making this available to all. Did you make the plans with Sketchup?
Bravo complimenti.
How much weight do you think it can handle?
Can you use MDF instead of plywood? I think I like the smoother look/finish of the MDF
It's illegal to use MDF in this application in my State.
THE BEST!
I like the table but my strap hinges don’t stay open all the time, great table but a little awkward
My straps fold in to easily

I recently watched a video where someone used sash latches opposite the hinges to lock everything in place. It looks pretty solid.
What's the full height on this?
How do you mount a vise on this one?

Nice
can you please provide the dimensions in centimetres?
Any plans for this?
The link to the plans is in the description
I like it. Is there a place where i can find the prints for actual dimensions?

The plans say to attach two 5" pieces (piece E) and one 18.25" piece (piece F) to piece D, which is 27". Am I missing something?

Make sure to get the right hinges...3x3 door hinges won't work
what hinges would you use then?
Tom Conwell
Regular 3 inch, door hinge will say “door hinge” on it
genius...if you have sketches and dimensions it will be great

wow!
Great idea but the whole point of being an instructive video is ruined by not being done in real time, and pointless music with no commentary
I saw that you used no wood glue will it be strong enough with just screws?
This same design I seen on someone else's channel
Pneumatic addict is an intellectual thief
And here you are wrong she actually said that the idea is from who and the person send the plans. But any way good job no offence
He copy from her.Not nice you could mention from who you stole the idea
