That villager workstation pathfinding was so painfully accurate. Always detect a workstation million miles away than the one literally placed next to their face.
Gotta place the new one you want them to use first, then break the current one. Otherwise at the moment the old is broken, they look for and lock onto the far away station since the new one isn't placed yet
i've been working on a resource pack, and i've noticed that villagers will claim a work station on the other side of the village even when there are several other villagers closer to it, and this prevents any other villager from taking it as they come strolling through town because they apparently called dibs on it. really annoying when, say, all the villagers keep deciding to go all the way up a tower and just kinda stay there.

Optimizations that can be made for future runs: The bow can be dropped by a skeleton - more luck based but saves time in ideal conditions. Would need a nearby cave with a skeleton and lucky drop rates. You would still need an emerald for redstone, but that can be found in the shipwreck, or if its a desert village redstone can be found in temple chests. Can't think of another way to get thorns armor, unless you kill a mob with it to drop it, but thats some TAS level stuff. And finding a safer/more consistent way to get to half a heart might be a good idea
iirc you can only craft a dispenser with a full durability bow so your skeleton idea would require a couple of drops, which I think for a run of this length is not possible to make consistent
quick tip for faulty villager workstation navigation, try first placing the workstation you want the villager to have before breaking their current workstation or the one they are pathing to, and then break theirs. even more efficient if you place it close to the workstation you're about to break

Fletcher sells bows only at second level, unfortunately. Most of the times runner will have enough emeralds to buy it.
