The tiger is, on average, more agile than the lion, an adaptation to its forest environment. However, the most agile leap among large cats is probably the cougar or snow leopard. Smaller cats are usually more agile, while bigger cats are usually more robust.
Correct. Tigers have a longer body and more balanced build for agility and pouncing on prey.. while Lions have a body that is shorter, but packed with larger upper-body and arm muscles built for strength and fighting.
Think of tigers being the strongest ambush predator there is.. while the lion is the strongest big cat in face-to-face confrontations. No stealth in the grasslands of the African savannah, after all.
@@deportationbot5224 Actually, the lion and the tiger are somewhat similar in anatomy. Tigers have overall a slightly more powerful musculoskeletal structure. Lions are also well-built for power, more so than other grassland-oriented cats, however as you said, an ambush is hard to pull off in a more open environment. So, they also have to balance that with adaptations for speed and running endurance (hence the larger frame and large heart and lungs). Too much power in the build would not realistically work very well, as it may hinder these adaptations for hunting. This could also explain why Congo leopards are more robust than savanna leopards. I like to use Jun’s Anatomy and Evolaboratory models for reference; Jun’s Anatomy models show they are almost indistinguishable to the common eye, in Evolaboratory models the tiger has slightly more bulk. Also, to be honest, whether a lion or tiger is a better fighter is honestly not a matter of fact at this rate, rather a matter of fact-based opinion. This is basically a roughly 250 lb boxer who prefers to avoid fights (Bengal tiger) against a roughly 200 lb wrestler (African lion) who instinctively wants to participate in them. That aggression would be an advantage, but only at the start of the fight (or if the fight isn’t serious).

Only reason why tigers jump better is because thier bodies are lean and their spine is longer while the lions body is more compact and desined for power with their shorter spine

I know cougars aren't considered "big cats" but they have the best jumps, followed by leopard and tiger. Lions have the worst jumps, their spines are built for power.

The best jumper leopard followed by tigers and snow leopards. Jaguars and lions are the worst the reason is because of lack of fast twich muscle fibers and less flexible spine.
Tiger jump better than lion because they have better hind leg.
Lions and jaguars have more slow twitch muscle fibers that means they have more stamina and endurance.
Jaguars and lions also have more muscle density jaguars have 57 to 60%, Lions have 57 to 63%. Now about tigers ,leopards and snow leopards. Tigers they have 46 to 57% of muscle. Leopards they have roughly 50% of muscle. Snow leopard I couldn't find any information regarding snow leopards muscle density I think it might be lower than of leopards.

The Bengal tiger shown earlier, jumping horizontally was of the Sunderbans where they average 80 to 140 kgs in weight compared to the range of 160 to 240 kgs in most other regions of the Indian Subcontinent.
I think Lions are heavy they don't seem very good at jumping horizontally unlike Tigers.
