Has nothing to do with the guy committing two other crimes he committed on the zoom call (driving with license suspended/using a cell phone [not hands free] while driving). 2. The case wasn't resolved 12 years ago; his license was suspended in 2010 and he didn't resolve his case until 2022; 12 years later. 3. The defendant (Corey Harris) was supposed to go to any State's Attorney office and have his license reinstated. He didn't do that. 4. If he truly had a medical emergency for his wife, he would have led with that. Nowhere in the clip do you see another person in the car and at no time does he show any anxiety about his wife needing to get into the doctor's office. *BONUS:* He had a court appointed defender whom he didn't talk to. If he'd talked to her ahead of time, she could have told him what to do to take care of it and brought that up to the judge. Likely, had he talked to her he could have had the issue resolved before his zoom court date. I think it would be best for you to acknowledge the situation of the man who was driving while on his driving suspension hearing with court. He was falsely charged with driving while his license was suspended, because a judge ordered that suspension to be lifted in January 2022. The suspension was in connection to a child support case, but for whatever reason the Michigan Secretary of State's Office never received the news that Harris' suspension was to be lifted. The man was driving his wife to a hospital when the Zoom meeting started. I think we as the Internet owe the man an apology for all the humiliation.
I witnessed somebody confess (in detail) to a crime then he realised if he plead guilty to the charge he would no longer be able to work with children (he was a child care worker) he proceeded to try and change his plea. The judge had to remind him that while it was his legal right to change his plea, it would be pretty much impossible to convince him that he didnt commit the crime after he just confessed. In the result of if he found him guilt his 12 month probation would likely turn to 100 days in jail. He took the probation 😂
Sometimes babies/toddlers don't react until you do and it's delayed so I bet once the video cut out if the mom was still freaking out the baby started crying lol
Update on the court meeting: Turns out even though he has his license suspended before he got it back in 2018 and somehow there was a miscommunication somewhere in the process so he ended up being falsely jailed for 2 days before being released. Edit: Turns out he never had a license just "permission to drive"
He's the kind of guy whose wife would ask him to straighten up the house because guests will be over for dinner, and when she came home to an uncleaned home, he'd reply, "Oh, you mean today?"
The guy wasn't driving without a license. He had his license restored in 2002, but due to a clerical error, the court was misinformed. It makes more sense to see how blindsided he is by the judge.
Just read the guy driving had the suspension recinded a while back and there was a bureaucratic scew up and he was entitled to drive...no wonder the look of confusion on his face.
The guy who was driving while suspended, originally lost his license for failure to pay child support. He eventually resolved that and got paperwork from the "friend of the court" entity to rescind that order, but the state hadn't been notified yet (probably something he was supposed to do himself, with some associated fee) at the time he got his driving while suspended summons. If he'd had all his paperwork in order, then this court appearance probably would have been a formality, and would have at least been approved to get his license back. He was also taking his wife to the doctor at the time. It's also likely that he'd been on hold with the court waiting for his docket to come up (you can't ever know your exact time), and thought he could make it to the dr. office and take the call from a waiting room or somewhere else, and just got caught out while driving.
@@allwhatilove914 not excusing it - sure, he did wrong and gonna pay the price - i am jsut saying it's not quite "as stupid" as everyone makes out. We all do what we need sometimes, legal or not. Sometimes we get caught.. it's not always "stupid".
Update on the guy in Zoom court. He actually technically did have a license. In 2010 his license was suspended, for not paying child support. In 2022 his license was reinstated by a judge after successfully paying it all, but the courts never got the proper paper work stating that.
Even so, driving while on the phone is illegal most places. Surely driving while on a zoom call is also illegal / worse. Its both an audio AND visual distraction.
On top of this, the man _definitely_ had court orders explaining what the Zoom meeting was about. Showing up on the call in a car is dumb, with or without a license, but knowing full well that the whole court thinks you don't have a license, and proceeding to do so anyway, is beyond me.

@@FarzynoMusic I follow about a dozen or so different lawyers on RUclips, and Lehto is great for general commentary for interesting topics that come up in the news.
The first clip with the driving is misunderstood. It was a court error and his license wasn't actually suspended. This was an error that has been blown out of proportion.
So apparently the guys suspended licence had been reinstated since 2022 but no one in the courtroom knew about it. People on the Internet so quick to judge 😑
FYI. That guy with the suspended license shouldn't have went to jail. It was discovered his license was reinstated 2 years ago but the county didn't follow through. That guy was stuck in prison because of a clerical error and released 2 days later. It's funny until you realize how common clerical errors are in the justice system. Dude lost his job and reputation because someone else didn't do their job properly.
Although.. he was on his phone while driving.. he's definitely guilty.. so, his driving licence should be taken away.. if you've had a member of your family paralysed by idiots like this, you might understand the gravity of the situation.. Video calling while driving, with or without licence, should be illegal and should be enough to be sent to jail..
@@zombierobbie-me1je That's sadly not what happened though. And he WAS about to park when he got the call, too. He probably thought he had to answer right away since it was the court. And he probably put himself in a safe spot before answering, too.

person who literally almost fell head-first after losing control of his bike: Are you serious right now?
I think it would be best for you to acknowledge the situation of the man who was driving while on his driving suspension hearing with court. He was falsely charged with driving while his license was suspended, because a judge ordered that suspension to be lifted in January 2022. The suspension was in connection to a child support case, but for whatever reason the Michigan Secretary of State's Office never received the news that Harris' suspension was to be lifted. The man was driving his wife to a hospital when the Zoom meeting started. I think we as the Internet owe the man an apology for all the humiliation.
FINALLY someone mentions it! Shame no one seems to care about the truth!
Thanks for the copy pasta

Imagine committing a crime in front of a judge 😂 Couldn’t be me.

Update on the court meeting:
Turns out even though he has his license suspended before he got it back in 2018 and somehow there was a miscommunication somewhere in the process so he ended up being falsely jailed for 2 days before being released.

The system is against us.
also the event that suspended his license for which he paid and resolved was 12 fn years ago -- this is a bureaucratic nonsense not a 'real crime'.
All excuses. he could have got an uber.
But still too dumb to pull over and switch seats before answering the call...

It's not a skit, sadly. It made national news. That said, Steve Lehto (an attorney) covered this on his channel and he mentioned a couple of details. Apparently what caused the suspension was supposed to have been handled years ago when he paid for it, but some part of the process wasn't done, so his license was never unsuspended.

FYI. That guy with the suspended license shouldn't have went to jail. It was discovered his license was reinstated 2 years ago but the county didn't follow through.
