Hi, thanks for the very informative video. I have bmw x1 and it showed few features like locking/unlocking and heating that you could turn on. I disconnected my phone and tried to install these features in my wife's phone and did not succeed. I tired linking my phone again but it does not. Any idea or suggestions will be welcomed. Thansk in advance.
Great video ,but I want to know my 2019 440 has no remote engine starts feature with key fob now. After purchase remote service from myBmw app can I able to remote start engine and control ventilation?
It may or may not be available for your car. The only way to know is to go to the ConnectedDrive store and check if remote start appears under available services.
Thanks for the video. A little question - the App is working brilliant on my 2018 X3, but I'm afraid of using climate function because of draining of the battery.
You're very welcome. As long as your battery is in good health, don't worry about the preconditioning hurting or draining the battery. The car won't let you use the feature if the battery state of charge is too low.
I own a bmw 8 series and last year I had the remote 3D on the app today I went to check on the feature and the icon doesn’t appear for me on the app anymore the only remote feature I see it’s the plan climate one I just want to know what happened to it or if have to purchase
I recently bought a BMW x5 g05 model 2020 from the Copart website in America and it needed a simple repair. I have one inquiry. I cannot operate the my bmw system in my country, knowing that I live in the state of Libya. I also cannot find the country’s maps. Can you help me? Thank you. It was an enjoyable experience. For me
Unfortunately, being a US-based dealer, and receiving US-specific training, I don't believe I'm the right person to ask. I would inquire with someone more in-tune with BMW's operations in your local area.
The cars come with a subscription for connected services from new for free. When this expires, the app will stop working. However, you can renew the connected services subscription whenever you like!
Thank you for that informative video. I actually do have the app and use it for my 2015 X3. However it seems like to have much much less content - it does not even show fuel levels - just dashes... But maybe it is too old for that. One question however: if the car is closed and armed and then a break in is happening: will the app actively inform me about the fact that the alarm went off?
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed the video! That is correct, older cars do not have access to all of the app's features, like newer cars do. The app does not currently have an alarm alert feature, but that's a good idea for something they can implement in the future!
Started working fine then stopped. Was 5* now 1*. Hasn’t updated all week. Still thinks my car is in Devon, I can’t control the car and gives meaningless car charge data. Spoke to my dealer that sold me the car (this month) - I suspect is a known glitch. Followed their steps - waste of time / effort. Looking on forums, I am not alone! BMW - sort this out!!
so, say if you park at a parking lot of a baseball stadium and you're nowhere near a WiFi, then you cannot connect your phone to your car, is that correct?
The only requirements are that both the phone and the car have a connection. If the car is parked in an area where there is cell service -- it will work. The phone also needs either wifi or cell service.
is it still only the samsung s21 and google pixel 6 android phones that can be used as a digital key? Was hoping more android models would have been added by now.
you need a subscription to access all this stuff? it wont allow me to even check fuel level it says i need a subscription. I'm new to BMW so just checking see if that's true dealership didn't tell me nothing about that lol
@@peeesoool You may have some connectivity issues. Try restarting the iDrive system by holding the radio power button for 30 seconds, and make sure the app is updated to the latest version. Also check that there are no remote software upgrades available for your car.
BMW has come a long way with the App. Not as user friendly and fast as Tesla. One thing that would be extremely helpful in the app is the ability to open and close the rear hatch. Love this feature on our Tesla as well as the live drive location which BMW does not do. It does take a snap shot of where the vehicle is located which is partially helpful. BMW can do better though. Thanks for the informative vid.
You're very welcome, glad you enjoyed the video! BMW has definitely advanced the app tremendously. They are constantly updating and adding features, so I wouldn't be surprised if those things came in a future update.
@@bmwofmorristown9038 Hopefully soon. I have emailed them those suggestions and others which I believe are necessary for BMW to be competitive in todays smart phone market.
If he had the app like I do he could have known where the car is and notify the police. My son took my X3 without my knowledge and was surprised when I told him where he was at because he told me he was just two blocks away. The app is very useful.
I love the digital key / remote app. I don’t use my key fob I only use my BMW app, it’s a very useful feature. Thanks BMW
2017 bmw x5 does not have remote engine start right? Because I can only see the ventilations
Till how far will this work? Is there a min distance within which this will work

Can I install language pack on my bmw
Great video thank you!
Does X3 20d M 2024 model supports MyBMW?
Hi I locked my car keys in trunk and I dont have spare ones, can I download app and connect to car without I drive?
Can I create a phone key with one BMW physical key? I bought it used with one key.

Very helpful information! Awesome app.

Your connected drive expired, renew it if you want to use this feature.
Do you know if the App remote start function will work with my 2019 X3 M?
You'll have to check the ConnectedDrive store in your BMW app. If it is available for you car, it will show up there.
Great video!
Just out of curiosity, how much fuel would be used with a/c on, and the engine idling for 15 mins?
Thank you, glad you enjoyed! Good question, we aren't sure exactly, but it would be a negligible amount. The cars are very efficient at idle.
Does the unlock feature work with the bmw 640 2017
Not entirely sure if the old 6 series is compatible. You can download the app and enter the VIN and assess compatibility there.
Genuinely unbelievable that you can’t select what temperatures you want the car to start with.
Does it work by LTE or bluetooth? Can I remote start the car from anywhere or the car has to be nearby?
It's via LTE/wifi, so you can do these controls from anywhere!

How long does the app work? My 2019 X3 just stopped working with the app - says I need to pay $120 for a subscription now...

The remote start works for vehicles as old as a 2015? Was told remote start only worked for 2019 and newer. I have a 2017 x3.
Is it possible on your 2015 car to start it from the app to put on the heat during winter ? Thanks for your answer
The year of my car is from 2020. However, I don’t have the option to set up digital key on my BMW app. Any advise?
It may not be digital key compatible.
Thank you

What about remote parking move?
Available now on the LCI X5 and other models.
So for the 3d pictures/video, why do we not see you standing next to the car? Does it hide the people it see’s?
No, it will show people standing next to it, the app view was just not updated. If you look closely you can see me walking away from the car.
What is the greatest distance from which you can remotely start your BMW and can it be remotely turned off? I am thinking 800 to a 1000 miles.
Using the app, the distance is in theory infinite, as long as the car and phone used to start it are both connected to WIFI.
so, say if you park at a parking lot of a baseball stadium and you're nowhere near a WiFi, then you cannot connect your phone to your car, is that correct?
The only requirements are that both the phone and the car have a connection. If the car is parked in an area where there is cell service -- it will work. The phone also needs either wifi or cell service.

Latest info seems to suggest that you are correct, but I expect more models to be compatible in the future.
I have a 2015 - 528i. Is that too old?
For most of this functionality - yes. But you should still be able to link the car to the app and check what functionality you do have.
@BMW of Morristown Thank you.
If someone stole my bmw & drive it 100 miles away, will the app be able to tell me the location of the car using gps ?
Yes it will!
Would this work on a 2012 320D?
Unfortunately 2012 is not new enough to be compatible.

Technically yes, although the subscription on new cars is for 3 years. If your car is older than that you'll need to renew the subscription.
Does it work on BMW X2 2021?
Yes, the app is compatible with a 2021 X1!

dont pre ventilate if your car is in a garage unless u want carbon monoxide lol
Of course!
With BMW's Alexa integration, you could probably setup a skill to trigger your smart garage door opener to open before remote starting.
Doesn’t work on F series models doesn’t show fuel or anything

Please add CABIN OVERHEAT PROTECTION just like tesla...moving from tesla to bmw back again but that's a cool feature I'll miss.
That would be a nice feature! BMW is constantly updating and refining features, so fingers crossed this becomes possible in the future.
My 2020 330i was stolen and if I had this app it wouldn’t have helped one bit. Utterly useless.
This app have many issues 😢
How was it stolen and how would the app help not get it stolen?
He said the app would NOT have helped which means the app would not have stopped his car being stolen.

do i need to have the key nearby while trying to remote start? does it need wifi connection?
You do need a wifi connection to remote start using the app, but proximity to the key fob is not required.
