Even though I feel I already know most or all about sending REST API's, I still had to watch, simply because of the delivery alone as well as the method of teaching. It's got to the point that my brain has grown accustomed to see these videos now, I am flustered without the daily fix. No need for TV or Game Of Thrones reruns! As Kobe Bryant said "Never be bored of the basics"
FYI looks like Cisco has updated something already. They moved the api documentation from the cog to a life preserver icon under help and called it "API Reference". Then you have to go to "APIs" on the left and choose "Intent API Reference" to see the documentation you show in the video.
I follow your video series, I want to thank you for the simplicity and clarity of your explanations. I hope you continue to create quality content like this. from Angola
This is excellent. Thank you, David, for sharing the core basics of this, it saves a lot of time going through pages of non-user friendly documentation must of the time. I am sure that the core implementation and basics even the use of postman can be leverage in other Networks Operating Systems technologies and vendors, like Cumulus Networks or VYOS. I really appreciate all you do once again. God Bless.
Mr.David Bombal. Thank you very much for your detailed explanation. I just understand what you and Hank discussing the REST subject and my installed last year POSTMAN reactive Today.
@@davidbombal never stopped following your content and have been a little passive with the comments. Really like the new DevNet stuff and CML material. Great job as always man and hope you and family are staying safe and sound.
Great vid again, simple but so effective and will be saving us an abundance of time as Net Admins in the future. Kept them coming, really enjoying this content 👍
was a bit late to catch this one, but all is worth it. Going to try this on Cisco SDWAN-vManage API. Waiting for the next video on how to script using Python. Thanks David!
Hello David/Guys, Thanks a lot of for this series "Cisco Encor", as usually it's a pleasure to follow your courses. Otherwise, I've two issues when I tried to test the Lab. In fact, it's not the first time that I'm using Postman (I used it with Tufin Orchestration Suite). But, it's the first time that I use the notion of the Token. So, I can't perform the API Call as you did, I got this message { "message": "Unauthorized"} as result. The second question, I don't know when I can find the collection "DeVnet IOS-XE and REST API" that you used it to perform your tests. Many thanks in advance.
Amazing Dave! Have I mentioned before besides I like your videos, I also absolutely love the into music selections? hoping to see Dr. Alban music in your videos(one of my fav music)
Very Awesome training, I learnt alot! I'm wondering do you also have training videos for other exam topics like Architecture, Virtualization, Infrastructure, Network Assurance and Security?
Hey David! Very well explained! Have a question to you or the audience, is there any way to configure network devices via REST API calls in a emulated environment (gns3)?
More secure, but in your home network is that necessary? For the office, if you need to encrypt DNS queries, you have major security problems on you LAN. More security is always better, but comes at the added cost of being slower and more cumbersome. I am currently in South Africa. The security systems on homes here are crazy compared to the UK. But, that is because the risk of your house being burgled is far higher. You got to decide what the risk is and then implement the right level of security. I would never use the same security on my UK home as people have here (electric fence, armed response, burglar bars, beams and lots of other security).
Hi David. I have a question: How did you know you had to use the keys Content-Type and X-Auth-Token? I couldn't find it in the documentation for the Get Device List. Thanks.
Hi, David! There is a space, forum or somewhere where specific technical questions about this course can be exchanged/asked? I ask you this because here on youtube the vast majority are comments of congratulations, etc., which is fine but distracts and loses the focus of those of us who are really seriously studying this course. I mean, a place where you can be asked from student to teacher (even if you delay answering, it doesn't matter), as if it were a class, to solve our doubts, without comments outside the main objective?
It all depends which version of SDN you are talking about. For the real world, very unlikely. We will still have SNMP around for a long time I suspect.
Hello David, once again thanks for this very instructive video. I have a question please, in DNA Center the REST API is included in the DNA or the DNA and the REST API is the same thing? Can we make a similarity between DNA and an Ubuntu Server running Ansible?
Applications can expose functionality through and API. Google Maps for example has an API that you can leverage in your own applications. DNA center can be managed via GUI or via the API. Think of an API as another interface to the application - created for other applications to leverage. GUI or CLI is for humans, API is for other applications / machines.
Thank you David for your answer, this is becoming more clear to me, sorry just one small question again: is there a way to talk to Ansible (in Ubuntu) via REST API?
Hi David, Great stuff! Any recommnded labs to combine with this course to help me prepare better for the Encor test? (I saw u have some courses on Udemy) Thanks!
Go to developer.cisco.com and check out the sandboxes. You can access them for free. You can access the devices that I used in the video just like I did. But, DevNet has lots of other labs you can use for free.

yes Anas i got the same issue. not able to open in my browser and also cannot call using postman seems some sort of problem
Need to fill in the "Headers" tab in the Postman API settings, (not "Params"). It should work fine. Hopefully that's the issue.
Fantastic content again David! really enjoying this... :)

Turns out X-Auth-Token is not a drop down, if you type it in manually it works

See my shared PDF. You can use the Cisco DevNet labs like I did for this section. For other sections, I'll probably use CML or GNS3.
@David Bombal
I reserved the large topology for 6 day for bgp .
But when close it and open I find it deleted and no config any way to solve
On Cisco DevNet? You will need to contact them about that.
i do not have option X-Auth-Token
Is that Sandbox dna account yours? How can I get my own snadboxdnac account?
Create an account (free) on cisco.com, then log into sandbox using your CiscoID
Go to developer.cisco.com and check out the sandboxes. You can access them for free. You can access the devices that I used in the video just like I did. But, DevNet has lots of other labs you can use for free.
