    My father was a locomotive engineer On a new your central railroad.. And used to go from Conneaut to Buffalo. My mother used to tell me stories when I was younger that She can always tell when he was coming home by the way blew the whistle and could start making dinner..
    I still go to the railroad history Museum in Conneaut Ohio. To see the things that he left to them before he passed. Miss you DAD…

    You choose my street, Marlowe ave and 2 of my best friends use to live in that white house as NKP 765 passed on by. I was born and raised in Lakewood for going on 27 years. But unfortunately I just started my job as a train railroad conductor on the Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad at Cedar Point amusement park. NKP 765 has a good role by and a good marker.

    Never mind all the grade crossings. What about all the people standing on the tracks.

      Dennis Tennant I agree their lives are important but these town folks are being careless. I am moving far away if I am in the town this video was filmed in I still wanna live.

    There are some really dumb people there....standing like that around the tracks is just plain ignorant. That is exactly what will bring and end to steam excursions like these.

    • @robkrasinski6217
      @robkrasinski6217 2 года назад +1

      I’m sure Norfolk Southern noticed and here we are with no more mainline steam excursions on NS. They only allow 765 to deadhead to places like CVSR now where the liability for excursions is CVSR’s responsibility. 765 only had a brief three years of public excursions on NS in recent years, 2013, 2014, 2015. At least I rode behind it twice in PA, the May 2013 Horseshoe Curve excursion and the August 2015 excursions from Bethlehem to Pittston over NS and RBMN.

      Yeah exactly not only for the peoples safety, but for the engineers sanity. If they hit someone they would have to live with that grief knowing they couldn’t do anything to stop it

      27 crossings in 2 miles. o.O
      Every few years there is talk to have most of the crossings closed except for the main streets, but the city government argues that it would create a huge traffic nightmare and it wouldn't be worth the cost.

      That would be Lakewood for you. Took them until the 1990's to put gates on all those crossings (sometime after I graduated and joined the Navy, they removed a 2nd set of tracks and THEN put guards on each crossing)...

    In the UK the barrier comes down 5 minutes before the train arrives but I quite like your 5 seconds

    • @Hattonbank

      No, far shorter than 5 minutes, if that was the case some gates would never open.

      That is one reason why class 1 railroads frown on steam excursions. Too much liability. UP is really the only class 1 railroad which never retired steam. 844 has been on their roster since the steam era and 4014 Big Boy they bought from a museum in California and restored it to service. They are also the only class 1 that didn't change their name besides Canadian National, but they bought other railroads like Missouri Pacific, Southern Pacific, etc.
