- Most other chalk paints are just paint with a flat finish. Pinty Plus has formulated a water based chalk spray paint with a real chalk finish which will let you use sand paper, scrapers, or water to get a distressed look that most aerosol chalk paints can not match.

This chalk painting newbie wanted to watch your video to learn how to use chalk paint as a spray vs the brush method. It would be helpful if you explained what you were using and the process as you were going along.

I have a basic question. I want to use this spray but not seal it off and distress the colour with natural use. If the chalk spray is not sprayed with sealer does it leave dust on touch? I hope my question is clear

I wanted details on what you were doing. Did you put a gloss finish on also? What grit of sand paper? It was just a video on watching someone painting
Hey Julee, Thanks for the question. We recommend using 150 grit or higher sandpaper. This video is a few years old now so i'm not 100% sure if we used varnish or the spray wax finish. I would say the varnish since we are not doing any buffing in this video. If you have any other questions let us know! Thanks!!

The drawer doesn’t stick to the wood behind it when it’s painted while closed?
This is a great question. If the drawer is something that you intend to use then pull it out and paint it separately. In this case, the drawer is decretive and does not open. I have other videos that have working drawers, and I always pull them and paint them separately. Once dry, our chalk paint should not interfere with opening and closing. Thank you.

Thank you for the great question. I used 2 cans of color and 2 cans of varnish. If you went with the wax you would still need 2 cans of color, but you would only need 1 can of wax.

Sorry, Silver is not one of the colors in the Pintyplus range of chalk paints.
The spray gun attachment you used, is that just something standard I can get at a home improvement store?

Hello! Sorry for the delay in response. You should be able to find one similar at a home improvement store. Most of them are universal.
Is the wax or varnish a must?
Its not a must, but just offers a protective top coat.
@@PintyPlusUSA well I used the wax with a brush & wiped the excess off.. & some of the spray paint came off..! Did I do something wrong?
What was the last finish you put on? It did not look like wax.
I used the Pinty Plus varnish finish on this project.
What is the purpose of sanding before painting?
Sanding helps prepare the surface for painting. If there is any rough surface or bumps, sanding will eliminate or smooth these out. On the other hand if the surface is super smooth sanding roughens up the surface to provide more tooth (grip) for the paint you are going to apply.
