you really should listen to the whole album, let's say... it's an experience iirc the album was based from a story book, so yeah they put story telling into most of the songs
when you start mentioning smallest sax you kind of dig into something interesting.. the alto is the second highest of what I would call the common saxes, but soprano is probably what you were trying to think of. There's also sopranino and soprillo (i've heard this one be called a piccolo sax) which are higher than the soprano but they're extremely rare and niche instruments. The soprillo was also invented after this album was released. With good control of the altissimo register, sopranos can play about has high as is typically demanded. Saxophones aside, cool review. This album has become one of my favorites and it's interesting to see others break it down.
Thank you for picking up Masayoshi Takanaka.
Not a single bad song. Please listen to any of them.
"Rainbow Goblins" is a must-listen song.

This is a classic. He has so many good albums.
Most simple song from this album, but so good.

It’s an album to be put over a children’s book.
I spent 4 years in Japan. I've got a copy on laser disc......I got to meet Sadao Watanabe about 35 years ago too...great time.
