The gap between the product and the wall surface looks really bad. You could see the crosshead leaning back as it was fastened too. In a really narrow entryway it's possible that could avoid notice, but above a window or door with views from the side, it's going to look terrible. For new construction, the installation strips could always be sized to the width of the product, so siding can be terminated flush. But for renovations, do you have a product that can close that gap? Or at least conceal PVC shims that could provide solid backing?

Wow. Applying construction adhesive around the outside edges of the pilasters and crosshead will have the adhesive hitting the siding.

Adhesive must be applied in addition to screws to assure that the product adheres. If not, the screws may not hold the material alone and it could void the warranty. While our product is not maintenance free, there is limited maintenance so no worries on having to remove the product. Touch ups may be required about every 5-6 years based on most customer’s feedback if installed according to our guidelines. I agree with wildcard, I'm putting it around my front door and there is vinyl siding on the house so you have that gap between the siding and the flush part of the installation strips. Also how thick should the installation strips be?

Thank you for your question about our Fypon door surround. In the video, we show using a 1x4 which would be ¾” thick. This would be typical for most vinyl siding applications.

Don't you need to shim for the top piece so that it doesn't slant when screws are driven in?

This will depend on how it's being installed. If flat trim is used around the doors to attach our products you shouldn't have to use shims. Here is the guide for installation: p.widencdn.net/utzf7c/16_Instructions_DoorSurround

Guy in video wasn’t wearing glasses when cutting or installing screws. Very irresponsible. Also did not follow instructions as he only put one screw in each end instead of the said 2? Maybe next time thoroughly review your instructional video before posting!!?
