Grew up watching this era as a kid. I would watch games with my dad (who just passed away 24 hours ago 😢) after coming back from skating. These were the glory days and watching so many stars on both teams. Sittler, Salming, McDonald, Palmateer, Williams, Gainey, Lafleur, Robinson...so many memories as a kid. I hope I live to see the Leafs win the Cup before I pass away.

Tiger Williams wasn't just some goon. As much time as he spent in the sin bin he would give you 40-50 or so points every year. In 1981 he spent 343 minutes in the box but scored 62 points including 35 goals. 62 points is considered an outstanding season these days. And he never made an all star team.

These guys didn’t show up to training camp ready to play. They played themselves into shape during camp.
The athletes of today wouldn’t be able to tolerate the tough play of back then, most of the players of those days wouldn’t be able to make the farm clubs of today.
      Two different eras.
Still, put the dynasty Habs team against any other era and it’s a different and interesting story.

Watched the original six on black and white TV.. Habs fan since 1950’s… Hated the Leafs with a passion but respected Bauer, Keon, later Gilmore ( the only Leaf who played with guts when the entire rest of the team quit like whipped little girls )… now they are just OVERPAID athletes with no loyalty. Domi had testicles though.. Clarke…In these modern times darn near died laughing watching the bottom of the ladder Habs knock them out of the playoffs a couple of years ago…. and NO, Habs aren’t what they used to be… BUT I HAVE HAD THE GREAT PLEASURE OF WATCHING MY FAVOURITE TEAM HOIST STANLEY 14 TIMES!
