- This is the opening sequence for "The Flintstone Kids", which ran on the ABC Saturday morning schedule from September 6, 1986 to May 21, 1988. This marked the return of the characters to ABC, since the original series ended in 1966 (Various incarnations aired on CBS in the 1970s and NBC in the late 70s/early 80s)
This show was following in the footsteps of CBS' highly rated Saturday morning cartoon "Jim Henson's Muppet Babies" which featured the babification of the Muppets characters. Hanna-Barbera Studios decided to use that same formula on their own classic characters.
"The Flintstone Kids" centered around the childhood exploits of Freddy Flintstone and his best friend Barney Rubble. They would be joined in their antics by their friends (and future wives) Wilma Slaghoople and Betty McBricker. Always chasing after the group was a young version of Fred's pet snorkasaurus Dino. - Приколы
Who would’ve thought that Fred and Barney, as childhood friends, have met and knew Wilma and Betty since they were kids? Then much later, they meet them again in their adulthood? Could be another alternate continuity. Even so, that’s what makes it great.
It's a spinoff that followed "kids" theme in cartoons back in the 90's.
It mattered not to the writers that this show didn't follow continuity.
It was a trend at the time inspired by muppet babies.
@@zt1053yeah and I miss that trend lol
0:35 I love this part B-E-D-R-O-C-K
Actually in the original Flintstones series, Fred and Barney didn't meet Wilma and Betty until they were around 18 working at a hotel.
And originally Snoopy once said he was "an only dog" but then along came Spike in the 70s and his other siblings in the 80s.
Which would imply that this show is set in an alternate universe and is therefore non-canon, just like Total DramaRama.
@@bronysimpson3250more accurately, a Pup Named Scooby Doo which contradicts what was established in Where Are You Scooby Doo
Captain Caveman was my cartoon at 11 years old in 1977.Who knew he would still be my cartoon at 20 years old in 1986?🤔
The babifying of classic cartoon characters was an odd era indeed.
It was like them trying something new with their franchises in the 1970s, whether outer space (Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space; Yogi's Space Race; Galaxy Goof-Ups; Space Stars), adding caricatures of famous TV and movie stars as special guests (The New Scooby-Doo Movies), or making blocks with supporting characters who later got their own timeslots (Dynomutt, Dog Wonder; Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels).
I wish they did a babified version of Peanuts.
Why is this sounding strange?
Total. Drama. Rama.
Some worked - Pup Named Scooby-Doo, Tom and Jerry Kids
Some didn't - Yo Yogi
I was going to type the same thing
I remember watching these old cartoon reruns that use to air on Cartoon network boy how time flies
Oh snap! How can I forget that this was a thing 🤣 loved this when I was a bedrock kid
This show had a setting "modernised", while in "reality" it should have taken place in stone age equivalent of 1930's.
Just saiyan.
Its obvious that the flintstones suffered a cataclysmic event that technologically regressed them in between the series.
Thanks for uploading :)
As a kid, this show tricked me into thinking that Captain Caveman was a Flintstones character. I had no idea he had his own show before this.
Keith, The Flintstone Kids was also part of The Funtastic World Of Hanna-Barbera's 2nd and 3rd season as well.
I loved the Flintstone Kids cartoon.
Me too, but it's funny how their technology was more advanced than in OG show.😂

I love this television show when I was kid
For as weird of a concept this show was not lining up with the Flinstone timeline, I have to say, this still has a *BANGER* of a theme 🔥
It was only going when a trend in the 80s/90s got inspired by the muppet babies and other shows like scooby do got their own kid spinoff
YABBA DABBA DOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey I saw this on Cartoon network since 1996 and 1997!
And I saw it on the same network in 1994 and 1995!
@@ClassicTVMan1981X Watched it on ABC in '86.
@@Tornado1994 In fact, I also saw this on the Family Channel (before ABC, before even FOX) in 1992 and '93.

Yay! Betty was still gorgeous as a kid.

I don't get why this got in my recommendation feed
Wait so you’re telling me when they were kids they had actual wheels but as adults they have cars they have to walk with?

Fred look so weird without his beard
C'est bizarre que Fred soudainement connaisse Delima depuis son enfance quand ils sont supposés s'être rencontré la 1ère fois à l'âge adulte
[shrug] There really was no hard and fast lore for the Flintstones. Over the course of the original series, the appearance of side characters like Mr. Slate would change. So would Wilma’s maiden name (from Wilma Pebble to Wilma Slaghoople) and in Dino’s first appearance he was a housekeeper type character who could talk.
Wth was this show even? 😂 I understand pebbles and bam bam but this one is ridiculous.
I hate this.
It was good for kids. I liked it, even though i had no idea what they were saying.
Yeah, I only had Cartoon Network on english.
