with this one it worked very well keeping water above the soil line. You can grow lettuce in direct water so just make sure it never dries out, saturate it. stump you can use several times

Dies it have to be a glass jar or will plastic work? What other vegetables or herbs can you do this with. Do you need direct sunlight?

you could but we just harvest it again right from the jar after 10-15 days

I tried with iceberg lettuce and it didn't work for me. This method is best used with cut and come again lettuces such as Romain, green leaf and butter bibb lettuces.
