Welcome to the town where the streets are paved with rice, corn and peppers While it may in fact appear to be something of a 'colorful road', this street has in fact been completely covered in grains or species as it is left out to dry. The farmers raked tonnes of shelled rice/ pepers across an 800-metre section of the road in the small town of Mingda in southwest China's Chongqing following a harvest of the grain.
Judging by these pictures however, the farmers were hardly concerned as motorists drove over the grains while going about their daily business. While it may not seem the most hygienic or safest way to dry out the rice or leaves, the sight of the grain being left out on the road is not all that uncommon in China.
Katherine, this is a great video, just like the rest of the videos you've previously produced! It's nice to see Wei's smiling face as well. I do have one little suggestion: It would be great if more of your videos were in Chinese. Perhaps, a 50/50 mix of English and Chinese would be best! I love the various sights that you show us in your journeys in China and I also love hearing your often unique and adorable comments in English, However, more than anything, I want to hear you speaking Mandarin, so that I can further improve my Chinese oral skills - listening and speaking. I'm really happy to see that you are approaching 40,000 subscribers!
Another fun bike tour showcasing the traditional and modern aspects of a city with the usual splashes of curiosity. And yay to that future ecological zone! :D
I love the way Katherine speaks. It’s so cool. Lol She kind of sounds like a German accent and the rthym of her speech is cool. I think it !/: something to do with the invisilign and rubber bands . And when she speaks Chinese she talks super fast .
Kudos for you, Katherine! Love seeing your videos. They give me a sense of peace and calm admits the storm of political confusion and pandemic lockdowns in Malaysia. I already am losing hope of getting away in one piece out of this chaotic mess. You take good care of yourself and may God bless you always in truth and in life wherever you are.
greetings from a chengdu local!! I actually haven't trekked through that amount of greens and freshness in my whole time living in the home city, hence it's a fantastic and quite enchanting experience to watch!! wish you guys have a great time living and exploring in the city, there are millions of serendipities ahead!!keep the marvelous job Katherine!!
Always amazed by China. Always amazed by your videos. Always love the way you notice and comments on little things we never notice. And finally Wei is biking together!!! Yay! Looking forward to more. Good night Kat & Wei. Sleeping time for me, it's 9:30pm. Gotta get up early tomorrow. Your video is just the thing for me before bedtime.🙂
Glad you liked it 😛 we have been having lots of adventures lately , three videos are lined up to be edited and we have a flight to Heilongjiang on the 19th. Excited to show everyone Wei’s hometown 😁
Love this video. What an excellent panorama from old to new, from rural to urban, from the usual to the quaint and unusual. Please keep em' coming 👍👍👍👏👏👏
Again! Bravo! You did an outstanding vlog. I have been to Chengdu more than 10 times, but never gone to the places you visited in this vlog. Thanks for bringing up so many fun places in CD. Have you picked up some Sichuan dialects! I am sure people will love you and be surprised. Sichuan (or Chengdu) is a miniature of China.
Yay bike ride. We were looking forward to watching you explore the areas around your new city. Try to build up a tolerance for spicy food. So delicious.
The first road sign you saw is the road I take every time for going to airport. It has been 1.5 year since my last time there. I miss Chengdu so much, and miss the old time when we can travel freely. Thank you for sharing!
Your video is always easy to watch, very entertaining. Your view point and explanation of all the scenes are attractive, refreshing and interesting! Thanks for sharing..
9:10 I gather that the columns, by the specific term 阙 in Chinese, drew inspiration from relics older than the Three Kingdoms. Szechuan is home to most of China's surviving 汉阙, or the ceremonial pillar-gates from the Han Dynasty (1st and 2nd century AD) - also the nation's oldest standing structures of any type in general. Obviously people of Chengdu are quite proud of them, with the city being the province capital. Definitely check them out - they're not touristy. And the Buddhas too - not the big one in Leshan, but the Anyue Grottos in the east: same rural settings and breathtakingly beautiful.
@@kats_journey_east Oh you're awesome. Looking forward to it. Have fun in Jinli Ancient Street when you get a chance, another interesting place to visit.
I’d never seen anyone in China sharing that website “skillshare”, unless I watched videos introducing other topics outside of China. The first time I went there was 2012, we had a construction site, which should be down to the south area from somewhere outside got started. It’s called Xinjin district.
Watched all of your videos! GREAT JOB and I LOVE them! A place to recommend, 明仕田园 in Guangxi is defo the place to go if you love countrysides and views. And keep up the work. They are really making my days!
Lovely video another episode filming 🎥 wow so much to see in this city .China is very safety walking to the ladies .That's very nice ,thanks for sharing .Bravo speaking in Chinese language. I m speaking 6 language the most languages European and one language in Japanese, I would like to learn Chinese language, very important
Have been waiting for your first Chengdu bike ride video. As anticipated, not disappointing. Looking forward to more videos in and around Chengdu. We were supposed to visit Chengdu and the JiuZhaiGou area in 2020, but obviously we did make that trip. We would love to learn more about Chengdu through your videos. Cheers from San Diego! Also, maybe you can share why you move to Chengdu (job or school reasons?) and how long do you plan to stay there.
Sorry to hear your trip didn’t happen, my family was supposed to visit in fall 2020 but that got ruined as well 😭 I just graduated last month and I am doing a gap year before finding a job . Wei’s family is in Chengdu so we are going to be staying with them in between biking trips around the country
Hi Kat, was that the Wide and Narrow Alley. I was there a few years ago. An interesting place with lots of things to see. First time commenting although I have enjoyed watching your videos for quite a while. I like to hear you speak Mandarin, it's very clear and accurate for a non native speaker. Keep sharing.
Any plans to visit Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture and attempt the long stair climb challenge to Atulie'er village on mountain cliff? 🏔️ I realize stair climbing may be outside of your comfort zone but this seems like an adventurous outing worth filming. Swim across the Yangtze, bike the countryside why not try the infamous stairs??🏋️
Wei's Tesla should be able to get there on a full charge or by 🚴 across 🗻 terrain if you are up for the challenge. It is more than halfway to Panzhihua.
Enjoyed ur video. Cross the street from Jinli 锦里 there is 武侯祠横街 known for tibetan/han merchants selling Tibetan goods, plus the Southwest Minzu (Ethnic minority) University. May not worth the video because of sensitive topic but def worse checking out some time.
Believe or not , I have never seen such country side in Sichuan . Thank you ! Next time if you have chance to visit the Well Salt city Zhigon which was my beloved Mom birthplace . Also there has a Dinosaur birth place Museum .
