The 2018 opening sequence is a reverse shot of an actual pumpkin rotting. Production designer Richard Wright had a pumpkin carved and he stashed it away in a very hot room.
Kobe Bryant used to listen to the Halloween theme music on repeat before key games to get in the zone and tap into his killer instinct.
“It was important that it was Michael Myers, because the mask itself was the void of emotion. It has nothing to with pressure, it has nothing to do with hype, it has nothing to do with comradery, it’s stone cold killer.”

Pumpkin's reconstruction means that Halloween's franchise is reborn. Amazing animation.
IoSonoAleM it’s a real pumpkin, not a CGI animation
@@theblackesteyesthedevilseyes So they take a sequence of a real burning pumpkin and turn the video backwards, Is that right ?

after the titles its all down hill I hear a toilet flushing
@@gkroll8467 Maybe you should have watched it in a cinema and not illegally cam recorded while sitting in a public bathroom you broke dummy.
I like the symbolism of how the pumpkin is like Michael and that after years of rotting, he is finally back
Could also be symbolic to how Laurie finally fights back after all these years of isolating herself.
DumontGamingCentral y’all look to deep into this.
Pains Labyrinth I like the first idea better
Damn never though of that
DumontGamingCentral geez. How insightful 🙄
There was a big smile on my face when I was watching this in the cinema

I did as well. Girlfriend may have thought that I was enjoying it a bit too much.

Such nostalgia with the old classic horror
After he said "SAY SOMETHING" Boom Halloween title pops up and the intro and music hits. Loved it brought memories brought a big smile on not only my face but everybody's. Everyone in the theater cheered for a minute
Jason Brock awwww. Ur cute 😏
I saw this in the theatre opening night with my brother and I agree that intro was absolutely spine tingling, the combination of the shouting, the alarm getting louder and louder and the screaming ''SAY SOMETHING'' into this title card was just fucking epic. The sound of it was incredible.
Yea man i got worried for a min when i first seen it. I'm like where's the main title music!!! Lol

I loved the symbolism of the rotting pumpkin coming back to life as if to say “We’re back and we are getting this right.”.
H18 was brilliant, too bad the sequels were such disappointments
I remember seeing this back in 2018 and when the opening credits played the whole theater cheered. It was an amazing moment!
Same here I saw it with my buddies. Great times
Same in my place, on one day long remembered, October 31th of that year.
I know a lot of people said this but I really love the pumpkin rising up after rotting. it symbolises that after 40 years, michael is back
"You feel it, don't you? You feel the mask... Say something, Michael... Say something... You feel it, don't you? It's a part of you, Michael. It's a part of you. Say something, Michael... Say something... SAY SOMETHING!"

The pumpkin idea at the beginning is brilliant!
Yep. Not only is it a callback to 1987's intro, but the pumpkin reverse-rotting shows the revival of this franchise.
Beauty, isn’t it?
@@silverflight01 Absolutely!
Everyone cheered in the theater when the titles started.
Hehehehehe :) teh SAME experience. The theater just exploded with applause and cheering.
Seems no newbies were present, everyone was a hardcore veteran fan :)
I love the way they did the pumpkin, take it and spend days filming it as it rotted, then reverse the footage. Genius and simple.
*When that title card first popped up out of nowhere I smiled so much in the cinema*
This kinda symbolizes the REBORN of the franchise. Since it has been dormant for 9 years. Until 2018, it is reborn
Ik it obviously isn't, but I like to imagine this is the same pumpkin from the 1978 intro and after 40 years of rotting, it's come back
Haha when this intro started i almost wanted to yell Halloween is back BABY! In the theatres
*I AM BACK!*
But more burned and scarred than ever
Halloween Kills opening credits, the pumpkin is on fire 😈
That'd be sweet.
Jack-o-lanterns plural
Your dream came true
I remember watching this in theaters last year and everyone including myself clapped and cheered during beginning of the opening title and theme
The minute I saw this opening was the minute I knew that this movie was definitely gonna be worth the price of the admission ticket
Saw this on Halloween night with my mom lmao but as a big fan of the original this gave me shivers down my back in the theater
I love the way the pumpkin rises up again to indicate Michael is still alive 🔥
I almost dance in the cinema xd
🤣🤣🤣
I’ll never forget opening night. Packed theater, plenty of snacks, great company. The intro scene followed by this masterpiece. I CANNOT wait for Halloween Kills!!!!
Avoid Halloween Ends at all costs
@@mancityfan2004 no
I still remember when this popped up on the big screen, there was an orange tint in the theater and I was amazed, also the music sounded so beautiful in the imax theaters
Every Pumpkin means something that will or happened to Michael
Halloween 1978: The pumpkin appears from the darkness and slowly the camera goes directly to one of the eyes, this represents that The Shape appears one day you don't know why and the right eye of the pumpkin is the scar that Laurie will made in the closet.
Halloween 2 1981: The light of the candle slowly get brighter and there is a different pumpkin, and slowly cracks revealing a skull, meaning the Shape will burn until he is finally death. And different pumpkin maybe means a different look of Michael Myers (mask and height)
Halloween 3 Season of The Witch: obviously isn't a movie where Michael appears and the pumpkin in the TV told you that
Halloween 2018: A rotten pumpkin suddenly starts recovering and then a jack o lantern appears meaning The Shape is back after many years being in Smith's Groves
Halloween Kills: maybe we will see a pumpkin in fire, then the fire starts extinguish, leaving scars in the pumpkin and the candle inside it get brighter, representing the Shape isn't happy anymore and there will be blood
Jeffrey Holmes well said
One doubt what is your prediction for halloween ends pumpkin opening
Wow I never knew
And you had to forget H5, where Michael brutally carved it up. He was an evil on two legs in that movie. So brutal and the way he used both the pitchfork and the scythe. 😍
@@warningfellow The pumpkin rots again, maybe?
I’ll never forget being in the theater with my mother and getting so excited that they brought the old Pumpkin back.
Still one of the best things to come out of the revival movies. Can’t wait to see Ends and what that pretty pumpkin will look like
What did you think of what they did with the pumpkin in Ends?
A real throwback to the original, i like how these new titles represented the pumpkin coming back alive after being dead, a sort of form of resurrection
John Carpenter is back to revive this franchise, and the intro sequence shows.
Happy Halloween everyone from the Shape himself!!!!!🎃🔪
Not happy at all with you wandering over there, Michael
You said something!
U
U think y can’t die your moive need morrr🎉
I like how they took the 1978 pumpkin and brought it into 2018
I remember seeing these credits on Opening Night and just knowing the film was gonna be great. A return to form that still does its own thing
Unpopular opinion: this is the best Halloween theme made
this one was better than Halloween ends
It's that time of year boys 🎃
I almost shat myself when the title screen suddenly popped up 😨 a very good reimagining of the original.
You gotta love it when Aaron yells "SAY SOMETHING", then this sequence booms into your face
The Halloween theme is one of my favorite movie scores. It strikes terror in my heart every time I hear it.
To watch this on the theater was so awesome. I was beyond THRILLED just by watching the opening titles 👏🏼
I was not even born when the original Halloween movies all came out. I vaguely remember the one from 1981 or so. That pumpkin they used in the promo really scared the hell out of me I'll tell you now. Happy Halloween everyone.
I was literally in tears that came from not just fear but joy. It’s like I was anticipating this for not just the year and a half since they greenlit the film but since 2002. That was the highlight of my year as a 22 year old (turned 23 3 days later).

I bet that Pumpkin Reconstructing is a sign of Michael Myers coming back
I saw it in the theaters and it never disappointed me 🎃
I remember I was disapointed that there was no opening Pumpkin credits, but then BOOM, 7 mins in the film the Opening Title started and I nearly had a heart attack.
I tried to get kids to go see this with me at the theater it didn’t happen, but when I finally saw it online, I knew I was gonna love this movie I could already tell they put so much effort into it just from the title sequence
Even though it was Halloween night and a pipe broke at my house causing all the sprinklers to go off, I still left to see this movie lol
It was at this very moment that everyone in the theater would be cheering

THIS INTRO IS GLORIOUS..... after the travesty that was a few of the older films and the Rob Zombie remakes .... this movie does the original Halloween movie JUSTICE
By far my favorite halloween theme
Something has to mean something with the pumpkin
This scene in theaters was like the Avengers Endgame of horror... everyone was screaming and cheering when the words “halloween” came on!
The pumpkin reconstructing itself sort of symbolizes that the evil force inside of micheal has reawakened.
I remember seeing this in theatres on Halloween night and just the whole theatre getting pumped. I actually went to the cinema dressed up as Freddy Krueger since that’s who I was being for halloween that year, will never forget that experience
The “introducing andi matichak” is a homage to the introducing Jamie Lee Curtis way back when in the first movie!
I love the music, so iconic.
Ive never heard an audience erupt like they did when this opening sequence started, the theatre had the bass way up so our seats shook during the drum beat and synths
1:22 it took me a while to realise but the pumpkins nose looks like a knife and the right eye looks like Michaels head
Holy moly I didn't realize that
They made it more clear then the original
That smash cut to the credits and the rotted pumpkin made me burst out laughing. The way it cut in the middle of him screaming "SAY SOMETHING" seemed intentionally comedic. I thought the whole intro was just gonna be the rotted pumpkin. Like it had just been sitting in that same spot for 40 years.
I LOVE this version
Damn, I love the pumpkin rising up from the dead
A classic horror film, always makes a modern mind laugh, at what was considered R rated in the before fore times
I love the opening 😉👍
Fun fact: They set a pumpkin up in a room with a camera and let it sit for a week. After that week, they took the footage, and reversed it, to give us this awesome scene!
The year 2038. Michael is 81 and he's on another killing rampage and no one can stop him.
Who else had a big smile on their face after the build up to the Halloween Theme in the theatres?
And this....is how you make an awesome opening credits
THIS is how you re-assert HALLOWEEN as the king of slasher cinema.
The grin I had when this showed and the music I kinda wish they go the anthology route they wanted with season of the witch
Whoever did this title sequence deserves a raise
0:50 the stem... when she accidentally touches your hand
It's cool to see Jamie Lee go from "introducing Jamie Lee Curtis" in the original 1978 movie to getting top billing in 2018. It's also cool to see "introducing Andi Matichak", sort of like she's now having the newbie/ingenue torch passed to her.
So many missed opportunities but at least this isnt the last Halloween movie we are going to see 😁
And this is the masterclass in how to reboot a movie franchise in the right way.
Only thing I didn't like was what they did with the doctor, rest of this film was amazing
This gave me chills when I heard it at the movie theater
I've been a fan of these movies for years. But this was my first time seeing one in theatres. I grinned like a manic for this intro, just pure nostalgia for the old school style intro. I hope Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends also open like this
I ADORE THIS MOVIE 😍
Same! 🔪👻🎃
Before this film came out I said it’d be cool if the opening was a rotten pumpkin...I was so excited when this started!
I know people say this is the best Halloween film, but honestly it's also probably the best slasher movie to come out in a long time.

Halloween’s theme is iconic, but I like it better with the bass notes
I love how Halloween Kills comes out in October 2021. 40 years since Halloween II (1981) came out.
Halloween 2 40 year anniversary 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
i liked how it brought back Michael in such a silent and positive way. that's what made it scary.
Amazing!
This was one of the best things about H18 ^^
A new jack-o-lantern for the opening theme.
(Still debating if I like this more than old H2's)
Halloween (2018) is a worthy addition to the franchise, and the opening scene proves that. I can’t wait to see Halloween Kills!
The best Halloween sequel?
No, it's the ONLY sequel in my book, and it was in development hell for 40 years.
Yes! And every sequel in between, plus the remake and its sequel were just spinoff films. This is the one true sequel to the original.
Nope. Halloween 2 (1981) is the one and only true sequel, way better then this film. this movie was ok, but doesn't hold a candle to Halloween 2, and the Halloween 2 skull pumpkin was way better then this rotted pumpkin. only good thing about this movie was Jamie Lee.
I was so juiced while posting a huge grin watching this into at the first Thursday night preview showing!
I predict when Halloween Kills opens up, it will be with the pumpkin slowly opening up to reveal the skull, just like 1981. If not, it will be Halloween Ends that does it.
Grand Guru Burning pumpkin
The Shape Lurks that sounds pretty awesome too
Uncle Sam yes, and what if Halloween ends opens up like this one but the opposite, like the pumpkin decaying since it’s called Halloween “ends” the pumpkin should decay, or like the guy above me said it should burn
Uncle Sam it’s going to be epic I can’t wait 🙌🏼
@@THEMANOFGRAND
I think the Pumpkin will burn in Halloween Kills indicating Michael is pissed and more deadly than ever now. Then in Halloween Ends it shows the Pumpkin decaying back down
_You don't know what death is!_
Really ? Well let me tell you
Death is when your soul leaves your body.
But this definition won’t be accepted until it has been proven in the lab souls actually exist.
Let me post the proof of that here.
For your consideration.
The existence of the soul can be demonstrated in two ways.
One: Directly, with the construction of a soul-detector and observing a soul leaving a dying body. I have reason to suspect the detection principle will be rapid variation in Planck’s Constant.
Two: Indirectly, from a purely theoretical analysis. There are two factors to consider. One: Observation of human behavior and Two: The necessity of keeping a Universe’s sentients from blowing their Universe the Hell up.
Until some fuzzy-headed scientist gets around to building a soul-detector, let me lay out the theoretical proof, and you can judge for yourself. Don’t worry. It’s easy. Absurdly simple.
And would you like to live in a world where nobody is afraid to die? Where you personally are no longer afraid to die? It’s only a single experiment away.this
Plot twist I don't own this lol
