Tikka was an opportunist. He knew that the fall of East Pakistan was imminent. Hence he ran away and left niazi to take the blame. Niazi is a hero, he absorbed all the shame but this kept from war being prolonged by a few more days and saved thousands of lives. The keyboard commandos sitting at home can easily talk of bravery.

Read Niazi's book , but you would not believe him. So you need to watch general sam manekshaw's interview given in 1999, or you can read the book by general joacob, the guy who was an animal lover as per his book. They have said the same.

War is planning so well that the opponent surrender without even giving a fight. That's what tactics is. That's what general sam did.
