    When an hourly worker way back where I got a paycheck, I roughly estimated that from my gross wages about 32-33% will be taken out for taxes, SDI, SSI, state taxes, etc. So in 2023, receiving $3621 monthly is akin to earning $4780 monthly or appx. $57,000 annually in GROSS wages.
    Of course if rated 100% P & T to calculate the total value of being rated such we need to calculate the dollar value of ALL BENEFITS available to us, including the value of totally free healthcare and prescriptions. That's huge, especially considering there's no co-pays or deductibles. For seniors, even if on Medicare many are paying thousands for coverage each year.
    If you are not at Medicare age, IMO a way to value VA healthcare is to total monthly cost for a PREMIUM health insurance policy, one that has a zero co-pay, no annual deductible, and includes dental/vision care. That kind of coverage, say with Blue Cross or MetLife would cost $1,400 monthly in 2023.
    But wait, there's more: if rated 100% P & T you have "lifetime job security." You are never going to lose your job, that in 2023 pays $4,780 gross monthly. You can assign any value you want for that.
    Then there's the fact that even if rated 100% P & T you are legally allowed to work, even full time if you are able. And you can earn whatever amount you want, your VA disability compensation is not affected.
    Bottom line: I appreciate the total value of benefits I receive for being 100% P & T.

    Great info to know as a disabled veteran! There is another service that veterans can use to get to their required VAMC appointments, and that is VTS or MEDSTAR. Both are contracted to the VAMC and will pick up any veteran at their residence and transport them to and from the VAMC. It is mainly used for people with mobility or stability issues [ Using a walker or wheelchair]. Check with your VAMC doctor to see if 🤔 it's available. Additionally, some VSOs have volunteer van services ; again, check with your VSO to find out. Some states offer a special veterans college scholarship, which pays tuition and fees [ Check with your State Education Department ]. I used to work as a claims assistant for 30 years prior to retirement, and I worked as a veterans work study clerk before that.

      Please check with your VAMC doctor during your next appointment to see if there's a Van Transportation Service [ VTS ] or MEDSTAR ] in your area to pick you up at your residence and take you to your VAMC and home again. Some VSOs have a volunteer service that operates, too. As far as I know, VTS and MEDSTAR are free, as I'm never charged a fee. I have to use a walker, and it's a bit of a change adjusting to using it, but as a disabled veteran; I am very thankful to have all my medications and medical care for free. I'm in my late 60s now. Good luck, Ronald, and thanks 😊 for your sacrifice and your service to America, Sir.

      The VA may pay actual necessary expenses of travel (including lodging and subsistence), or in lieu thereof an allowance based upon mileage traveled, including the actual cost of ferry fares, and bridge, road, and tunnel tolls. When the VA determines an overnight stay is required, meals and lodging taken by a veteran and, if applicable, by his or her attendant, while traveling, may be reimbursed. www.va.gov/healthbenefits/vtp/beneficiary_travel.asp

    Just an FYI the 10 point veteran preference and the waiving of the funding fee is not just for 100% disabled vets!!! The funding fee gets waived for as little as 10% disability.

  • @isactucker3788
    @isactucker3788 Год назад +10

    Just so you know, you get 10 points even if you do not have 100%. It's actually 30% or more, not only 100% for federal jobs. You can get retirement and veterans benefit even without it being 100%; if you get disability at 10, 20, or 30%, as an example, the amount you make with your disability will be taken out of your retirement. However, you will not pay taxes on the Disability amount where you would pay taxes on your retirement. That also means you would be paying fewer taxes on retirement because you are making less in the eyes of the state and federal governments. Dale Davidson, please be careful with phrasing because we want to ensure accurate information. You do not need 100% to get a VA ID card to access the base, you need to go to the VA and get a service connected VA card and then go to the base and talk to the gate guards to get registered for a certain base after you are registered you will be able to use Base facillities.

      For the 100% he must have been referring to the Disabled American veteran (DAV). It’s where you and your spouse gets an ID from the base. The DAV card will give you and your spouse access to the commissary. The VA card doesn’t give you commissary access.

    VA facilities stop paying travel in 2019 for as many veterans as they can. Clothing allowance was stopped by the VA many veterans.
    The reason one they can and no one will stop them . Also the veterans they illegally deny benefits and services to are what they call angry veterans because those veterans don’t knuckle under to those VA employees who illegally deny benefits and services to veterans.

    I was living in base housing for 2 years before I retired, because I didn’t want to pay another funding fee. When I retired I had to buy a house since I could no longer live in base housing. I was told that if I filed my claim before I closed on the house I would have my funding fee reimbursed onto my loan. That was false. I submitted the form the VA sent me to have the funding fee reimbursed, and it was denied because even though I filed my claim before I closed on the house they would only use my effective date of retirement as the date and that was after I closed on my house. This was the third funding fee I paid due to my other home purchases while I was on active duty
