I think you're using the wrong use of the word "pride". While in the proverb, pride means overconfidence and hubris, pride here is used to distinguish the unwillingness to falter before people who are unreasonably bigoted towards members of the LGBTQ+. I think a relevant bible quote here is "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven" Luke 6:37. Jesus is all about loving, so why this unprovoked hate that you justify with a religion who's core ideals do not align with your stance.

@@Raineygoodyears Pride is a bad thing if it's exclusionary towards others, if it actively puts you on a higher pedestal above anybody else (hence the saying "pride goes before the fall"). The pride month celebrations don't aim to do that. Instead, they are celebrations of everyone's individuality, letting everyone know that they are all equally valid just the way they are and feel comfortable being, no matter how far from the societal norm they might be.
That message only counts within legal limits of course, excluding those seeking to do harm for only their own, selfish gain. But if standing pridefully above those sorts of people is too much of the bad side of pride for you, then you'll have to take things up with the whole of society and the way we view criminals.
