Somebody give this guy a Netflix series!
Ikr
Not just this guy- she would have to be in the series too.
Josh is to aviation what Neil Degrass Tyson is to astrophysics.
👍Get a New “Mature Co-Pilot”...The Series Wouldn’t last into the 2cd Episode...lol🤪🥴😂
Loved your copilot's enthusiasm hopefully you'll fly with her a lot more as she always had a smile on her face.
This is why I want to get my pilot's license. I've spent my whole life on the ground and I've seen some incredible landscapes. I bet they would look even better from the sky. I took my first discovery flight a couple months ago, and I've been itching to go flying again ever since.
Then go for it! The sky's calling you ;)
@@jetblast5902 Trust me, I am. I'm just waiting to hear back from AOPA's scholarship committee before I start my training >=D
Do it! I always wanted to, talked myself out of it for years. I’m now a student around 35 hours getting ready for my solo. Soooo much fun!!!
Go for it lad👍🛩
If you think you can do it, you can.
-John Burroughs. I want to get my license too someday, hopefully I do. But sadly for right now I'm just a little 12 year old stuck on the ground with big dreams. But yea, go for it, I know you will get it.
WOWWWWW!!! What a landing!
As a local Californian who has flown Catalina many time I still really enjoyed the video. The gorgeous island and that beautiful SMILE, what a combo! Even though the word like was illegally use to the point of distraction you guys still made a masterpiece. Keep up the great videos.
I'm sold. Catalina is now on my bucket list. I've seen it many times from the beaches while visiting So Cal and in an airliner but your video rivals any I've ever seen. So many commenting about the word "like". Who cares. She was excited and bubby and lots of fun ! I would have her onboard anytime. Spectacular video all around Josh......
Be careful that you don't get bitten by the "romance" bug. Catalina sometimes does that to people. : - ) GREAT filming composition. One GREAT episode!!
Thanks for visiting the Airport in the Sky! Catalina Island Conservancy works hard to be a responsible steward of 88% (or about 42,000 acres) of the Island.
She is a genuinely happy person, something that isn’t that common, really nice to see ...... she is a catch 👍
The island of golf carts. Great bison burgers at the FBO (circa 1997). Great memories of my father and myself going to Big Bear for breakfast and Catalina for lunch.
Great memories of my mom and I going on day trips out of Dana Point. Last visit for me was about 12 years ago
Love watching people enjoy flight like this.
I am not a pilot, but back in the 1970s I got to twice ride as a passenger in a Grumman HU-16 Albatross from San Pedro to Twin Harbors. Camped their too a bunch of times with the Boy Scouts, great place! Nice video of Silver Peak and the rest of the northern part of Catalina, thank you...
The clarity of your videos in 4K is amazing. I'm watching it on a 55" 4k tv. Awesome job.
Well, thanks for changing my evening plans!
I used to fly to Catalina all the time when the runway was in bad shape. Glad to see the the Army Corp of Engineers redo it. You can take a 30 min bus ride from the airport to Avalon
Wonderful. I flew a Cherokee 140 over to Catalina a number of times but my flight instructor did not want me to land there until I had more air time. Thanks for showing me what I missed. I still have receipts for my flight instruction which cost at the time $11.00 an hour for the aircraft rental (wet) and the instructor was $5.00 an hour. Name that year? It was 1965 and the minimum wage I am guessing was $1.50 an hour. So yes, I am an old dude.
Drinking game!! Every time she says "like" take a drink. Hammered!!!!!!
@Aaron Phelps Like, yeah exactly!
#shitfaced
You just know she's like from California.
I puked!!!
I think you could get drunk off of O'Doul's with as many times as she says like.
Her enthusiasm is contagious!
What I like most about this is next to him he has a fellow aviation enthusiast who shares his love for the world outside of the cockpit. A pleasure to watch
That take-off was AMAZING!
Another one for my "Flying Bucket List"!
65 years old, born and raised in Torrance, first flight at Torrance Airport, NEVER been to Catalina ! So thanks for this one . Great shots.
I love your videos so much they look so HD
I’ve flown over Catalina, it’s a place that I hope to visit some day - fantastic photography, thanks. 😁👌👏👏👏❤️❤️
Your copilot is awesome!
A wee stoater of a video...unbridled enthusiasm from the two of you. 🏴
Indeed epic! Great flight! Regards from FRA
I'm lucky and live and fly in Santa Barbara. I've made the flight to Catalina a few times. Approach is an epic attention getter and take off is just as challenging, and fun! It's a beautiful and very interesting place to spend a day.
Great video. Thanks!
Omg this is amazing! Thank you both!
I used to be stationed in San Clemente Island. Great Lobster diving out there
Hey Josh. Thank you very much for a great video. I have seen this one at least 20 times. Its awesome to see 2 CFI’s enjoying the moment but not being complacent in your pilot saftey. I loved the chemistry that you and alisha have. It made the video super enjoyable. Im a private pilot and I took alot of great pointers. Cant wait to take my cirrus there. Thank you for the inspiration and again thanks to Alisha as well.
Man, I'm LOVING your content! I'm a student pilot out of John Wayne and I just discovered your channel tonight. I've been watching for a couple hours now; I can't wait to fly out to some of these places soon! Keep these videos coming!!
Spectacular video, surely the best flight video ever !!!
The take off is a big WOW, and the fantastic scenery ... and the super clear image quality ... oh man, this video deserve MILLIONs of visualizations !!!
Many many many thanks for sharing !!!
Josh, I love these videos. You've opened a door for me that I never even knew was there. I thought about learning to fly 30 years ago when I was a teenager but dismissed it for whatever reasons. But after seeing your videos it has illuminated the discipline and wonder of it all. I'm definitely thinking about learning to fly again, but even just watching these videos is fascinating. I admire your discipline and attention to safety. Keep it up (Ha!) and I wish you well!
Super video!! Thanks for letting us fly along!!
Was so nice to see Catalina I got my ticket at KLGB. Spent most of my time flying out to Catalina and the area. Thank you.
This is why we love aviation. None of us would ever have saw this or just experience city lights on a IFR approach . Enjoy.....
Spectacular - thank you for sharing
Really nice video. Nice to see scenery and the two of you having fun.
This is why I’m seeking my ppl. Flying to amazing places. Truly awe inspiring. Look forward to flying there someday.
I really enjoyed the Catalina scenery.
Sitting in my Hotel room in Vienna, having my ATPL written exams tomorrow. Watching these videos keeping my nervousness in check... :D
Was there several times on the steamer as a kid but most memorable was in a United DC3. Was there for the last of the original motorcycle races in ‘58 and before moving away, quite a few $100 hamburger flights in a Cessna 140. Good memory’s.
So beautiful Josh. Thanks for taking us along!
Many aviation RUclips'ers completely wear out the word "epic". In this case, it's an understatement! Stunning scenery and excellent videography. I hope to visit Catalina in the near future thanks to this video.
Thank you for this wonderful video.
Catching Alicia in the Aopa video was great! You gave us a double bonus nice job! On my plan when I fly into Torrance next month
Stunning island!
I love this. Thanks! When I was a kid back in the 70's we spent a week in Avalon on a family trip. Just nothing but the best memories. It was just a fun place. When I get my ppl it's definitely on my top 10 list.
Thank you for the video - looked like it was a great time flying lunch / hiking / and a great co-pilot. Take care be safe.
Great footage.... WELL DONE!!! Amazing.....
Wow! I think you two really clicked. She’s a keeper!
I literally take note of all the awesome places you visit so that one day, when I have a plane of my own, I too can witness these geological beauties.
Great video guys! Not only was it beautiful to watch I enjoyed the relaxed banter. Although she's done it countless times, I love how giddy with excitement Alicia (sorry, I missed her full name) was while orbiting the island...like a young kid. I've been in that water but never flown there. Nice aircraft, brilliant flying, amazing video, gold nuggets of flying advice, tips and interesting banter. Thank you
Great video except she is driving me nuts taking all those beautiful landscape shots in portrait mode!!
A camera-person's dream...The lighting is simply to die for...
This video just goes to show : Surround yourself with happy people !! This fun and outgoing young lady's excitement and joy even though she has flown the place before made my day. Life is a party :D
Lovely video... epic scenes
nice landing dude
It’s flights like these that really make me miss flying. Thank you for the experience.
How is that she’s amazing
I'v been there twice by cruise ship via tender, but never by air. Great video! Great cinematography!
Been to Catalina Island dozens of time by ferry, always for the scuba diving. Plenty of logbook hours below MSL! Now I want to fly there. Great video. Thanks.
The fishing off the coast on the west side of catalina island is really beyond compare. When i was a resident of socal a friend and i would take his 26 foot cabin cruiser out and spend 4 or 5 days out there. Really fantastic. Enjoyed the video brought back some great memories. Stay cool till next time
When a video makes you laugh, a lot, it's a great video. Well done.
This is like, a totally awesome video!
Great video, Josh - and Alicia is simply a delight! Hope we get to see more of her.
Beautiful flight, I would LOVE to fly around something like this.
Thanks for the memories! I worked both ends of the island in the seventies (Avalon and isthmus). When at the isthmus (Two Harbors) we would drive to Avalon for supplies weekly and I got to see the diversity of the island. I would have to walk though a herd of buffalo some mornings to get to work. It was amazing. To go to the mainland I would board a Grumman Goose that took off and landed on the west side of Two Harbors. Sometimes I would sit next to the pilot and be mesmerized by all the cranks he was turning for the gear and trims. They used to fly out of Long Beach or San Pedro and it was always a fun trip. Now I fly helicopters in the Gulf of Mexico and the scenery is not nearly as good. Just iron islands sticking out of the water.
Thumbs-Up #442 Monday late afternoon 9 March 2020! I have no idea if aviation has its equivalent of road rage or not, but you, and the people you interact with / show in your videos, are the type of people that definitely give flying a good name to. The woman you are with in this video is of the finest class to exist.
Alicia’s excitement is infectious. Would be fun to see more of her in 991 flying over other beautiful areas...in the West.
every time you upload, i get SO excited! Because I know you are better than any other GA aircraft youtube channel. Thank you josh
Absolutely beautiful views from there I bet
Very enjoyable video! Love seeing the island from the air! Then Trans Island bike does sound fun!
Our Unit use to do ops on San Clemente Island. took a trip to Catalina one time. great places to be.
Beautiful flight. Thank you!
Gorgeous scenery and great aerial tour of the island. Thanks for sharing. Fly safe guys 👍✈️😊
at 8:32 is where i want for a field trip once, that's the place I went to for a overnight field trip, looks cool to see it again :)
The week of my wedding, the wife and I flew out there so she could give me a local area orientation as a nice break from all the pre-wedding craziness. We hiked the same trails. One of my all time favorite flights!
Eight Zero Niner Niner One, Greetings from India! Big Fan, and love your channel. Keep em coming.
Welcome to SoCal! Great video. Love it.
had a chance to fly to kavx but was socked in with weather at the time...was always on my bucket list. Thanks for the wonderful experience!
I was on Catalina last year and got to Avalon on the Catalina express. We took a Jeep tour up to the Airport in the sky right before they opened it up, I wanted to get that place in my logbook like you Josh. As always, fantastic videography and such an enjoyable guest. I really can’t believe all the “like haters” in the comments...genuine enthusiasm for GA is great, and you have the ability to bring it each time Josh. Thanks again from a cockpit club member.
That island looks like an iceberg, gorgeous! Great video
Unreal even the video is cool. Can’t imagine how nice it would be to actually visit there
Incredible video of Catalina Josh! I continue to be impressed. Also jealous of your production quality! I am trying to get there. Cheers!
Lovely footage! Great job!
Definitely on my list of places to visit / fly to in the future.
Kids on Christmas morning enthusiasm and smiles all around! Nice flight and entertaining conversation. Thanks for sharing! Fly safe Josh!
The rock around these islands, are so diverse because these islands have been cause by volcanic activity and tectonic movement meaning the rock layer up making the island a huge piece of slate
Well done sir!! Alicia is quite entertaining. Looking forward to the next one!
It has been 30 years since I flew out to Catalina. I enjoyed seeing it again. I just bought a TR182 and guess I better revisit the island and buy the tee-shirt. I did the horse back riding rented a wet suit and went snorkeling. The water was so clear you could see the bottom. The glass bottom boat was fun also
I-10? That is what we call it here in Tucson!
When You leave the runway @ Anderson AFB in Guam the land drops off 400 feet to the Pacific Ocean. That will give You a thrill.
I grew up in San Pedro, learned to fly at Torrance. My first ever time flying was to Catalina. In an Aeronca C3
did you over-rotate?
A flying bathtub!
Catalina used to have a seaplane service; I remember it as a kid. Long Beach to Avalon, red planes.
AWSOME, we met some friends from Italy in Santa Monica, had an opportunity to fly a Cirrus for a little while, but at the time we couldn’t land on Catalina so,......Its still on my Bucket list!!!
Best non-secret in town... Beautiful Catalina! As for the corridor, next time try flying it at night, when fog is rolling in. Completely unreal experience. On one side the ocean and its Abyss; On the other side city lights as far as your eyes can see, then directly below planes popping through colorful fog, thanks to the runway and taxiway lights, Something worth seeing...
Your vids are always beautiful and stunning and a great adventure to follow.
Thank you for the great videos. I used to work on the Channel Islands, I've flown to San Miguel, Santa Rosa, & Santa Cruz. I also spent a decade of my life flying over the Page, AZ area. You brought many wonderful memories.
Your busting some great vids out! Thank you!!! A freaking +++!!! 👍👍👍
