Thanks! It is definitely turning out to be a larger structure than I began the series thinking I would build. Can't stop the military-industrial complex I guess.
Your videos are so well put together! And your build style makes me feel like I'm no longer worthy of greebling! Everything looks so incredibly detailed and proffesional.
It's also nice to see someone use automated mining and ore delivery. I've just realized how barbaric it seems to ALWAYS have to stop everything and go get a load of iron, just to sit there wait for it to be processed so that you can get back to building.
I like the end 😂 ... I watch the serie in 2 days I love it a lot, the designs, the whole process, it is a 10 for sure. Thank you very much for that entertainment ❤
Looking very nice, for the top section, I would say make a big landing pad, with maybe a couple of welders inset into it as a auto build area for the tardigrades or other flying drones.
Hello sir. I'd like to order some turret silos please. Always love the detail you put into your buildings. I also like my survival buildings to look nice. Have played with people in the past that just focus on function while looking at me like I'm crazy over-designing our base. Glad you finally noticed you were calling your stairs ladders.
Engineering is hard, words are harder. Still getting a hang of commentary during play. Need to work on my 'ummms' and apparently I like to begin every section with "alright" 🤣
@@EngineeredCoffee alright alright alright. Fully understand. Live commentary is a pretty serious skill. From watching your videos I wouldn't be able to tell you have any issues with it.
If you haven't seen some of the update previews, the 2x wide door is also going to need a 2x tall space. Love what you're doing with the design and the tardigrades! Looking forward to seeing what your base is like at the end of the series!
Man i love your design choices, it makes me want to build in a similar way instead of sterile and clean looking all the time. Also appreciate the brevity and commentary. Well done, now take your sub! :D
Hey man love the content, I would recommend building a welder ship and the funny thing I just heard you say you need it. But you made me want to build those little turrets you should building different versions of it to. But I love the content can't wait for the next video.
Pipes looks good. It’s a pity to hide them under the ground. Scaffolding can also be used to support pipes, usually put a scaffold block and an armored conveyor on top then connect pipes to the sides. In some cases you can put industrial sorters over supporting scaffold as they have one side bleed suited to be pleased on top of full block. Overall I usually expose pipings and make them 1 block higher than the floor you can walk on so you won’t bump your head into them. Some pipings can be higher if you don’t want to intersect them.
@@EngineeredCoffeeat this point you will need to dig it or redo all the pipings on top which might be even not possible. You can also have more redundant pipeline, so in case when the base is being damaged it would still be connected.
Welding ships sucks. They suck even in space let alone on planets. I find it much easier to just have a good access points to components everywhere I build. But then sorters can stand in your way. So I usually use sorters only for specific things like draining ores from cargo ships/drones. The rest of the base and all cargo containers are always connected in one single system so I can deposit and withdraw anywhere I want. Cargo containers then fill with mixed staff but it not that bad. Major benefit of not having dedicated storage is that you share all the storage for everything and so it’s more efficient, you can have most of your storage be filled with the items then they become ingots, and worry only about if the total space and not for each individual item type. I also strongly recommend making a control room where you can make a bunch of displays and run some sort of script to display total amount of ores ingots and components. This way you can forget about opening different cargo containers to se what you have and you won’t care much when all different items are actually stored. You just know how much of each item you have and it becomes much easier to plan on what you need the most next.
I tend to like welding ships when I have a script to keep them stocked, but this playthrough is scriptless. Otherwise yes, they are cumbersome. That is why I just put welders around attached to the base storage. I have most of my sorters disabled or bypassed until construction is done.
I hope Keen is gonna add real NPCs to the game so you can hire them to weld your base for you. Or robots. Like c’mon, this game is about engineering and not found 9 to 5 job welding things by yourself. For ships we can at least use printers but base building can be really tedious. I also tend to place those temporary welders to finish some bigger blocks but even the it feels more like a workaround rather than the intended gameplay mechanic
By our powers combined... I like how finished your base is. or becomes. I tend to not finish. I feel like in the next one or two episodes, I just need to time lapse the crap out of some stuff. to get it buttoned up. Or at least looking intentional.
I have to fight my ADHD for sure. That's why I have been trying to stick to single builds per episode. I over extended myself on this one. I didn't really expect the building to be that big, but I like it.
@@EngineeredCoffee I understand. I also overestimate how much stuff can be done even in time lapse. I often am like: I shall finish this, and then move on, and then it turns out moving on isn't possible. But I have not started doing stuff, at least very much off camera.
I really hope you post this base or entire world on the workshop I would love to get my hands on it lol it looks soooooo damn good and fits the aesthetic that I build in as well great job man
I actually don't like the rust. On occasional things like the little orange tank, it's great. But otherwise my preference is for the "dirty but maintained" look that's most everywhere.
Very cool. Usually when I'm making multiple structures the same, I just disconnect it from the main grid, BP it, then project them in place and merge the original back on. Also, just curious, do you know you have multiple hotbars that you can populate or do you just prefer to use the single hotbar? You're builds are always excellent.
Thanks! I will probably take it to creative when I'm done to separate the buildings. I know about the multiple pages, but for some reason I only use it in creative. I tend to use the single in survival. Comfort zone tick? 🤷♂️
Dude you are a really good builder for an engineer... Have any tips on getting better? And how do you keep your head with ideas and keep yourself motivated? I get bored after a couple hours.
I look at a LOT of concept art. I look at the form and try to cram in the function most of the time (backward from my IRL engineering for sure). I would also suggest going with the flow of what makes sense next. I ran out of iron, so I shifted an episode and made a mine. I was planning on separate outposts starting the series, then the idea of making a turret factory popped up and that goal is keeping me going building this larger complex. I would say my best motivation is the response I have been getting from all of you. I thought maybe a few people may be interested and here I am just over 1k subscribers! Thank you for the support!
It’s been a long time since I was actually keen to see more content from a RUclipsr. Another great episode!
Thanks! Glad I was able to bring something entertaining, or at least refreshing.
Looking good. It's fun to find that balance between function and form.
Thanks! It is definitely turning out to be a larger structure than I began the series thinking I would build. Can't stop the military-industrial complex I guess.
The rusted texture fits well with the dusty texture, your base looks great as you have it

The base is looking good. I think the smokestack to silo size is fine.
Looking very nice, for the top section, I would say make a big landing pad, with maybe a couple of welders inset into it as a auto build area for the tardigrades or other flying drones.

Comment for the algorithms.

I hadn't caught that. I was so focused on the sides because I thought it may be like the gate. It will be a challenge tomorrow then.
I just rewatched Splitsies video. Looks like 2 different doors. The 1st orange base looks like a 1x4 and the 2nd is a 2x2. Exciting!

Good idea. I actually want to make the buried pipe more designed and put in battery backups and other items so it's not just a dirt floor.

I find having a noisy child where you record helps with finishing things off camera 🤣🤣

I will work on that at some point. Still need to mess with naming, lighting and event controllers.
@@EngineeredCoffee I totally understand that lol gotta make sure it's as functional as it is good looking. Can't wait to see what's next.
Rust is a good call
I think so too. Just don't want it to turn too scrapyardy
For rust you need oxygen. Terraform Mars then you’ll get your rust 😀
Touché
