Deep Sky Astrophotography Target Guide for the Northern Hemisphere AUGUST

Welcome to the August edition of my Deep Sky Astrophotography Target Guide for the Northern Hemisphere. It is designed to help you choose what targets to image in August (of any year). I plan to release a video like this every month until all 12 months are complete. This is the most helpful guide I’ve found to interesting night sky objects. It gives me all the critical information, what, where, when and how big and a good pictures to inspire my next month’s imaging. I tend to use screen grabs to collect a few possible objects and then investigate these further at my leisure. As well as using it as a planning tool, it’s really relaxing to just watch play through!

Thank you. I have a question on the flaming skull nebula though, the picture and specs don’t seem to match with SH 68, was there a glitch in the matrix or am I missing something? ( kinda looked more like the lagoon but …)

Hi Carol. There seems to be some variation in naming going on here. NGC7822, Sh2-68 and the Rosette Nebula all seem to be referred to as the flaming skull nebula by various people!
