I love how Finley waits patiently for his steak...
"From the 1955's" 🥰🤣🤣🤣 i will never forget that
I laughed out loud. 😂😂
Ha ha me too lol
That was hilarious
Making rope and cordage is one of most valuable bushcraft skills and nobody seems to talk about it. It’s one of the first things I learned about bushcraft from a book decades ago.
You sir, are Bob Ross of bushcraft
I love this guy! He is so cool and so humble.
@@lj2026 he just lost weight in South America. He was far before the trip and has now taken back all he lost and then some
This dude is the real deal.
@@lj2026 lay off man had you actually watched fowler videos you would know he has struggled with it for years.
except for the guy who edits these videos, i think he's quite annoying. Greg needs to edit it himself or get someone else edit it for him with more professional.
Fred from shameless..
My son said he wants to be like you when he grows up. Except I don't have a kid and I said that...
Fantastic
Lol
Classic
hahah
If you want that truly... granted if not you still get something granted ... If Allah Will It Be!
Cant believe how you can make 33 minutes feel like 5. Much respect for your content and ways from Idaho 👍
i know!! everytime i watch one of these it ends so quickly
Represent the Magic Valley!
I was just talking to my husband last night about how if/when society collapses we will be so clueless… Now I’m binging survival videos. Lol. Thanks for your quality content!!!
Canadians are so Nice & Honest.. If that Boat was left at a Lake in the USA, It would have been stolen by someone.. Guaranteed.
At 21:00 when Greg breaks out into song. I felt the passion in his voice. Haha
I died lol
He repaired a boat with a candle! 😯 Greg is the MacGyver of the Rocky Mountains!
I truly love Greg’s kindness! Just a true man in line with natural law
“Even a man who is pure in heart,
And says his prayers by night,
May become a dog when the dogbane blooms,
And the moon is full and bright.”
Maleva
It wouldnt shock me if he.......
I’m a simple man. Greg uploads, I like and comment.
Fin is the second most handsome furboy I know...next to my Bull! We are quite blessed to have them. As for the dogbane cordage, i find a little animal fat on my fingers seems to help hold the twists/reverse twists and makes it multi functional. Firestarter, Cordage, and if woven into a patch first, can patch a larger hole with wax and birch bark!
And again I am sitting in my chair and enjoy. Thank you for taking me out. Nice ropemaking vid, Tight lines! Its allways a pleasure. Greetings from germany
That is amazing! It may take time and be tedious, but that's an invaluable knowledge & skill! The things I've learned from you are so cool, you're like a virtual Dad, Uncle, and Grandfather for us all, Thank You Greg!
I see the expression eyes don't lie

Yes! My twin three year olds and I call him uncle Greg! Gotta love the content he has.
I don’t live where the plants he uses grow but, I have learned good stuff here. Maybe one day I’ll make it to the Rockies
I thought the same thing. Lol
Finn is going to be a fine dog when he grows up no doubt about it. Just watching how he observes everything tell me so. 👍👍
i agree
Sorry about my previous comment. Wasn't quite finished... Pine pitch glue (melted pitch and ground charcoal) lasts almost forever and is easy to make. Patch your boat with glue and wood shavings or bark. Plenty of it around. Great thing about your videos is that you teach so much but there is so little time. There is always more to learn. Thank you.
The ability to make educational videos that also are exciting to watch, and gentle enough to help an insomniac fall asleep to. You, Greg Ovens, are an artist. Thank you for everything.
Exept, I end up watching the whole program, and feel the need to comment. I usually have to watch an ole--,Western, then sleep! Ha.ZZZZ...'Thank's for mentioning. NZ. ✌❤🙂
@@normazarr3106 I usually watch a few of Gregs videos and fall asleep during the 3rd or 4th, depending on the length of the video hahah! Much love.
Finn really is a good boy. And you trained him really well!
Not many dogs are disciplined enough to resist the sight of two steaks that are cooked over a fire. But Finn stays perfectly calm and only eats when he is allowed to.
So very true. Finn is a ⭐️
This is the content we wanted in YT. Not those BS 5 minute crafts.
I just love Greg. So easy to watch, and so knowledgeable.
Honestly just listening to u talk and be is like therapy. So peaceful, I thank God for you man
Greg just a tip from a pro dog trainer I am friends with. ALWAYS feed yourself 1st when your dog is watching. In a pack the Alpha always eats 1st. This is shepherd /dog psychology 101. Eat the first portion then allow pup to eat. You’ll avoid food guarding behaviors in the future. Happy bush-crafting!
Respectfully, this isn't quite the same scenario. He is hand feeding and commanding the dog a certain behavior/action before he feeds him. If the dog was just taking the food and you take what is left or ate after- then what you said would be put in place.
Just sharing 😊
this man fix a nice size hole in a boat with a candle. wow. best part of the video by far.
I was thinking the same thing 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Not the singing 🎶?
This is FANTASTIC!! If I'm ever stranded in the forest 🌲🌲🌲 YOU would be the reason I would SURVIVE! 💕

Bro, the thing i love about you is that your skills are skills and don’t come for sale in something the size of your credit card. Think all of us that watch you think the same no non sense Greg 👍👍
Im excited to watch Findley continue to grow more and more into a bush dog in the future videos that I am deeming this the
Findley saga.
The way you fixed that big hole in the boat was really smart your Ingenuity is only rivaled by your good looks and singing Talent
Almost spit out my coffee when Greg statrs "ITS BEEN A WHILE!"
Love the video, that is some serious skill and patience!
Love the content....probably leave the singing to Ozzy😂
Is there no end to this mans talents?
Zach, I'm worried you won't hang on to him, in your crew, if more of his singing gets out and into the interweb. With a combination of that angelic voice and those almost girlish good looks, he'll be signed by Simon Cowell for a boyband. The lure of big money and superstardom will be too great. Bushcrafts loss will become Teenie boppers gain.
Superb video, in a long line of great videos you guys have put out, this is amongst the best. Thankyou. Kind regards P
i was here for greg now im here to see your little fin 😘😍
I wish to have this channel in my childhood but there was no RUclips at that time.
Yup...I'm waiting for Part II. Part I was GREAT! Making natural cordage takes patience.
He’s living the dream!
Fin is eating like a king it's really awesome that you treat him so well
Voice of an angel
Man this doggo is so handsome. learning good manners too

Robert Plant cant hold tears when you sing
Greg is the bushcraft professor
Glad I'm not the only one that sings while fishing!
I love this Canadian bush man ....you make me proud 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Puppy Finny look how he's grown over time aww.😊
"It's been a while"... 😅😂

Thanks for the teaching. 🙏
In a complicated world gone crazy, you my brother bring me back down into a good place , if only for a short time, it’s great. Thank you Greg, I was you back when I wore a younger mans clothes. Blessup, stay safe

Thanks uncle Greg for another wonderful video! Not a fan of all the ads this time tho.
You going to scare Bigfoot with that singing!!😂😂
Yeaaah Greg! We love what you give us buddy! You have a massive fan here in Oregon, USA. :D
Greg, my friend on you tube, you are the man. Leave Zach in the dust with your info. skills and videos.
Ok you crack me up. The singing the boat with holes. You are an original for sure lol 😂
Something about his charisma. Love it!
That's the effect of being in nature... a true gift.
Rainbow trout is my favorite fish to catch and eat.
Great fishing!
🎣
I live in Belgium, so I’m not really able to enjoy bushcraft as other people with nature in America. So I love to see these kind off videos since I can’t really do this myself.
Hello Greg! Awesome video, I figured the candle wax would work on the small holes n the boat, but had doubts of wax holding n the bigger hole, yep, I was impressed! I knew ur cordage would work, u did a wonderful job making it, I’m looking forward to part two! As for Finn and steaks, he knew he was getting his share, licking his chomps, keeping his eye on them, he sure looked the proud guard dog!! He’s a cutie for sure! Thank u
Hey Greg I always carried a few of the wax toilet rings to plug any holey emergencies that might arise.
And then Greg said “taste the rainbow “ 🤣🤣🤣loved it
Can’t wait to see ya!! Love the outdoor skills in action!....... I laughed so many times throughout this🤣, comedy of errors but in the end, a fish!! Love the locale.
What a guy, what a life.
Greg is Starting a Tribute Band!!!
You are my favorite internet personality, and I actively follow about 100 channels since I cancelled cable about 5 years ago. Thanks Greg, I hope I get to meet you someday.

I love that you teaching Fin how to cook! I am watching every episode!
Dang Greg be spitting lines out on the lake
This video was so funny. Had a great laugh. The singing situation was awsome😂
And every little silly things you say like “not that i care about the candle..” or “built in 1955s..” 🤣🤣😂😂 The fact that you’re not even trying and it crack people up is pretty awsome👍🏻🙌🏻
And, not forgetting the editing of your videos are so good and hilarious😁🙌🏻 Great job Zack and his team.👍🏻
Thanks this old dog just learned a new trick.
Great project and excellent reverse twist with the dogbane. A couple ideas for future videos... Cordage can be made from several sources and most people don't carry fish hooks in their pockets. Also, rose thorns cannot be found everywhere, but trees and dead branches can. The Native Americans often used a ''gorge'' made from wood or bone or antler material. Simple, quick, and easy. If it is lost, there is plenty of material laying about. Also, not everyone has a large candle with them, but there are pine trees all around you there. Pine pitch glue masts o very long time
"The 1955's!" lol You are the best dude! Love your content. Big hugs to that little buddy, Finn!
19: 37, It was a good idea using the wax, seeing you implied you can swim to shore.
Why not bring out a repair kit and fix it permanently - fiberglass is easy to repair. The repair will have to be anchored outside the waxed area. No way the resin will adhere to the waxed areas, but no problem.
FRP is advertised as lightweight, but is closer to heavy than light.
At the begining, the mfgs didn't know how thin it could be molded, so overdid the thickness; so that boat is worth a good amount of money.
If it was mfg in the late 50s, early 60s, it's one of the very first of f-glass and is a serious collector's item.
21: 00, why not round the edges of the paddle handle?
25: 36, Ha! Ha!
30: 12, a trophy pic for sure.
That was exciting. Thanks!
I'm definitely going to make some dogbane line.
Subscribed within 5 seconds of viewing.
Greg, you should try fixing the boat with pine pitch glue. And maybe a little grass (or dogbane fiber) if the hole is big enough. It will last forever. Well, maybe not forever, but longer than wax.
Anyway, this is a great video. Thank you for putting in the time and effort to make the line and demonstrate this. That is a lot of work and patience. My wife loves your videos as well. She is watching your 30 Day Survival Challenge videos right now.
I just found your channel. You are one hundred percent the kind of dude that I would stick to like glue when the world destroys its self.
Your a rock star now Greg.
Man, Finn is sure growing fast😁
if there was a "24/7 Greg ovens channel", it'd be on, 24/7 for me :D
From the 1955s...haha..that was funny....and good to know about the knives!!!! Thanks.
Hell yeah Greg! Sing your heart out mate! 😁
The things that you have taught me are some of the most important things I've ever known, not to mention the fun I have trying my best to attempt those things and pass them on to my loved ones.
Absolutely adore your videos and your charisma.
