So sorry about your week but glad you are all safe. I don’t divide my yarn in half when knitting socks - I knit one sock at a time and don’t care if my stripped socks match.
Wow! Such a week! Glad you got your power back and that your house survived well. Thanks for the idea on knitting from the opposite part of the cake for heel, flap, and gusset! I'll do that next time I'm working on self striping. 😁
I’m a michigan viewer,,,,,, somehow we were blessed with no damage,, but a round us lost power, royal oak, clarkston , chesterfield twp, we’re in the middle all we had was heavy rain ,,
Sorry about all the troubles you went through last week. Hopefully pack to normal now 🤞 The heel flap socks are looking great - and I am happy that they fit. Jinny - UK.
Hello from Mounds, Illinois. I use the Crazy Sock Lady nine inch circular vanilla sock pattern, I always knit the heel flap and gusset, they actually fit better. I split into two cakes and knit my socks in tandem, that way I finish both about the same time.Wal- Mart has pumpkin spice creamer. Everything in your fridge should have been ok. We were without power for two weeks so when we moved we bought a whole house generator because if the wind blows too hard we lose power. It wasn’t as expensive as we thought it would be. But it runs everything in our house. It was worth every penny.
Oh ,Lisa!!!what a time!!scarey,,,,,Too and no power in the heat,,,Yikes,,, Glad everyone ok,,, Love all UR Finishes,,,!!! And love the heel on the🙄🏡stripey sock!!going from middle of ball,,,!!!have to try that,,, Glad u enjoying the heel flap and gusset,,!!! Take care,,, Elaine 💗🏡 The week can only be better,,,,!!! Hope ur daughter's mouth not too sore,,!! So glad u still podcast a day late,,,,
What a week! The storm just missed us - east of Toronto - thinking of you and sending good vibes. Your socks look amazing. Thanks Lisa, I really enjoy your podcast each week.
I'm glad you weren't hit by a tornado -- and that I wasn't the only one who thought the 1st part of the back on the Penguono took forever! Hope you have a better week!
Wow what a crazy week! Love the way your Penguino is looking. My guess is about 4 more socks and you won’t need to look at the heel flap and gusset instructions any longer. Hope this week is better ❤❤
So glad you’re all ok, storms can be nasty sometimes! Twin Mountain Handcrafts has the monster progress keepers!! Hope this week is full of good school days, less braces pain for your daughter and lots of knitting for you! And electric!!
Thanks for another great episode! I love sock knitting as well and only recently branched out to having more than one pair on the needles at a time. You’re making is so motivating! Have a great day!
I live in a hurricane zone and I can relate to prep before the storm and after the storm. It is stressful and a lot of work. Glad all is well or at least better! Got my pumpkin spice creamer! So excited because last year it was hard to find in my area. Grabbed 2 bottles, also. I don't want to over stock...hurricane season! Currently planning my shades of PINK pengouno so I can cast on soon!
I keep my skeins as one skein per pair. That way I have a large scrap instead of two small ones. Usually I have 30-40 grams left so plenty for another project.
What a week, glad you and your family are safe. The Crazy Sock Lady has a video for contrast heels, toes and cuffs, have you watched it? You don’t have to cut your yarn and your self-striping yarn still picks up where you left off. Not a big deal but you are creating a step you don’t need to do. Your socks are looking great, congratulations.
Yep, I’ve watched that video. I know I don’t have to cut it. But I like starting the gusset with the next color stripe. It doesn’t bother me to weave in extra ends. 😂
When I do the heel flap/gusset, I find that I get holes when I pick up that ladder stitch. No matter how hard I pull on the working yarn. When I don’t pick up the stitch, and I just make sure I knit super tightly in that area for a row or two, then I don’t get holes.
What a week! Hopefully this one is much better 😊. Here in my part of Southern Ontario we had 3" of rain that night...then another 1.5" on Saturday....so much water laying about. I'm glad we didnt lose power...we're in the country, so when we lose power it means no running water since we have a water pump. A scrappy project to consider...I have started the Anthology Throw by Helen Stewart. It uses 20g scraps and minis...I think it was meant as an Advent project. My goal is 2 colours per month.
I’m so glad you got power back. ❤ our trick for knowing if things are thawed is to fill a baggie with water. Freeze it. Then once it is frozen, add a penny to the bag. It will rest on top and be okay. Put this in your freezer and keep it there. If you ever lose power again, first thing you check is how far the penny sunk. If it did, you know things thawed. If it’s still on top, the freezer maintained its temp. But after 26 hours, I would have been purging things too. The first day back to school is the best day to go grocery shopping, everyone else will go the day before to “prep”
What character is Stuart? I know there is a Stuart minion, but your stitch marker doesn’t look like a minion. Born and raised in Tx, so I empathize with the trees and the power outages due to weather. I hope this week is good with your kids going back to school. I am working on a temperature blanket with squares for each month. August is mainly one color except for three days. The color range of temperature is 101-107. It has been so hot!
Hello Lisa. 26 hours without power. I would need my air. Glad it's back on. Purchased the S. West Pattern for the painted bricks blanket. any advice you would like to share and did you get the 300 + stitches on a 40 in?😊
I have only ever knit the heel flap and gusset and sometimes I get holes and sometimes not I can never truly figure it out 🤷🏻♀️ I also wish I could knit and drive. I get car sick so I can’t even be the passenger and knit and it makes me so sad.
I don't know why but I've done a bunch of self striping socks with heel flap and gusset and I just keep going ( I don't cut the yarn) and the Stripes do not get out of sequence....it all flows. Weird
So sorry about your week but glad you are all safe.

26 hours without power 😅 I wouldn’t have been able to sleep either. I have to have my fan and my noise machine going. 😂

What a week! Your local health department website should have a good list of foods that are still safe after a power outage 😊
One thing you can always do is plug tablet into 9v outlet in car. Be sure to have an adapter. 😊

What a wild week you had!! I also have a snoring husband... I use a fan and wear those orange foam earplugs to sleep - muffles the snoring sounds!

I forgot to say, when I am in a reading slump, I always return to the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Love those books!

Thanks! Time to get another Stuart! 😂
You must be in Michigan!! So glad you all were safe in the storm! We were out of power from Thursday to Sunday and it definitely wasn't fun!
Thanks for another great episode! I love sock knitting as well and only recently branched out to having more than one pair on the needles at a time. You’re making is so motivating! Have a great day!
It is very fun to watch you try and love the heel flap! Happy anniversary! I am glad you all are safe! And happy birthday to your little girl!

Bummer about the storm hitting. Glad you and your family are okay. I hope not too many people suffered too much damage.
I wind it up into 1 cake and knit from that. I never have a problem starting the second sock
I keep my skeins as one skein per pair. That way I have a large scrap instead of two small ones. Usually I have 30-40 grams left so plenty for another project.
Bye Lisa, have a good week and thanks for the upload. Happy to hear all is mostly well.

@@knitalltheyarnpodcast5512 you are doing great

Try picking up a couple extra stitches in between the heel and the front of the sock.
I split yarn into 2 for socks because I almost always do two at a time socks!

Yikes! That’s a lot of rain!
Sorry you had such a crazy week, but glad you are all ok.
happy monday, Lisa
The Lavendar Haze sock! So good!

Stuart is just a name I picked. 😂

I believe I did. But I made that blanket awhile ago. That pattern is great for stash busting! Have fun with it!
