Not only did they not finish 'King Izalith', but they slapped her lore onto it. Imagine not even getting your own boss, but getting reused assets from an UNFINISHED boss instead. Would be even better if the orbs to destroy were protected by remaining daughters of chaos (even just one would be cool, the one in front of the BoC fog is a cool detail, but it never had the right amount of impact in my opinion). Or! The orbs could be around the area, the boss arena being accessible from the beginning, allowing you to see BoC (or King Izalith, I suppose) from the very beginning, but locked in place and inactive, when you have wandered around and destroyed all the orbs you walk in front of it and bam! Fog walls and this was an arena from the very beginning! The boss loses its legs and now you can fight it. (kind of like Laurence was introduced in bloodborne, but maybe in a more central area, one you pass several times, exactly between the last orb and the bonfire if one would like to be really nasty with the surprise boss fight)

@@davidepastore5600 Ngl this is incredibly sad when you think about it. If Lost Izalith was completed as intended, it could've influenced all the future games going forward. I mean, if you think about it, it might be one of the most significant locations and events in the whole DS1 - while 4 kings were chilling in the abyss, Seath seeking crystal immortality and Nito taking a nap (aka all the other Lord Souls doing fuck all of the lore significance) Witch of Izalith tried to recreate the first flame itself! AND she was the reason demons flooded the kingdom. What im saying, Lost Izalith deserved to be much grander than the poor state we received it in. Haha, we need a separate game that would consist purely from the LOST WORLDS (LEVELS) From failed to properly implement, like the snow world of Demon's Souls and Lost Izalith of Dark Souls.

@@benma1116 I guess their idea was to evoke the same kind of theme they had prieviously played with the true King Allant from Demon's Souls. A ruler hyped up as this uber boss and all, only to turn out he became a pathetic slug as consequence of his hunger for power. Perhaps they were trying to evoke the same theme here, or just making a reference.
That said, I will agree that they probably could've done a better job at that. The flaming bug that the Bed of Chaos really is doesn't even move at all, not even slowly! And the only attack it performs (a form of Firestorm) is only ever used if you leave it alone for quite a good ammount of time.
They should've made at least a few things to make it more satisfying:
1 - give it more fire attacks
2 - have it attack immediately upon you reach it, not after some 10-15+ seconds
3 - make it more resilient, to the point you don't one-shot it with a single hit, but needs to strike at least 10+ times to kill
Maybe if these had been implemented, the payoff would've felt more worth it and they probably were intending for something along those lines. But alas, it is what it is. The modding community is now the only hope for Bed of Chaos becoming something akin to this idea.
