The splitscreen pause is super cool cinematically, but it's difficult to appreciate the setup of the plays - the positioning and the ability usage and prediction that put you in a position to score. The skill behind the play is very important to my enjoyment of the montage, and the split screen thing makes it harder to see rather than easier. I would use it once or twice at most, for cinematic effect, and then stop to avoid overloading your viewers. It's cool, don't get me wrong, but it's not why I watch montages.
