if you want I can dispose of your old parts just send em over thanks
bro, you need to tell me what song that was while you were putting the build together. PLEASE!
Edit: For anyone who was in the same position as me its [Birocratic - Where to]
I literally just finished watching the no compromise build again
I can read your mind
Dude. I replicated this rig, except couldn't find a 2070, so settled for a 2060, and I went with a green vandal switch. Also, went for the ASROCK Z390 Phantom Gaming mobo (because it has Thunderbolt 3), and modded/installed a 7-inch raspberry pi screen on the front panel (next to the gpu exhaust) instead of installing extra ssds. I use it to display hardware stats or just fun little vaporwave screensavers. Beautiful build! I've loved it. Thanks for your tips and the build guide!
The 2070 isn't all that powerful compared to a 1080. It's more of a sidegrade tbh. the only advantage you get with the 2070 is ray tracing. You aren't seeing a big jump in performance compared to a 1080 though. The 1080 is still a 1440p/60 beast today.
This is hilarious, just two days ago searched for your video of this build to see if I can purchase that case... anyways, good to know the system is still up and running
I just built a rig in the LZ7 because of your videos! I gotta say, I love it, so thank you, I would never have found this case if it wasnt for you. My rig is basically the same as your upgrades. CPU temperatures are below 60c with gaming on average, and the system is quieter than my old PC, and 1/3 the size. I'm getting the custom cables in January when they're available again.
The only problem I had with building, was the Z370-I Bios was out of date, and didnt work nativly with the I7 9700K, so I needed to take it to a shop, and have him put in a compatible CPU, and update the Bios. Just a warning if you plan on building this.
Here's a photo of it.

Nice build man. I like the white and black look. Glad you like the case as much as I do.
How well did the thermals and noise go though
Wondering the same exact questions.
^
I am seeing around a 2-3 degree difference at load. Noise levels have improved at lower temps... under load they are about the same.
@@Tekeverything Thanks for the response. But I think a video about it with comparison with small form factors (Ghost S1, Velka 3, Jonsbo C2) the way it looks the airflow is being choked really bad. Most of the airflow is being blocked by the psu)
@@xyrenegade definitely check out his other videos reguarding temps and airflow in his previous reviews
Bro I was looking for the same exact thing with the cables 👏🏾🍾
What SATA data cables are you using ??
I added a link to the parts list
2 Questions:
1: What do you game at? I'm gaming at 1440p, 144hz, ultra settings, and my cpu temps are in the high 70c-80c for some games. What program did you use to monitor temps, HWMonitor?
2: How much did the custom cables cost? The website makes it look like you have to buy each one separately, and one of them alone is $63. Are they $63 each?
I typically game at 3860x1600. I have a 38" ultrawide. I typically test at 1440p.
The cables were sent to me so I'm not sure what the price would be. $63 per cable doesn't seem right though.
you should do a Lazer3D LZ7 case vs the Velka 3 case
very nice mini itx builds you got there. hoping for your channel to grow bigger and continue building mini itx builds. very nice
just read about the new extended case and super stoked to read that you will be able to buy just the extended panels as I am beginning to wish I could fit a full sized gpu :D
edit: spelling
Yep, the most versatile ITX case somehow becomes even more versatile.
Wow that's a small build!
I think my ITX build is like 2,5 times bigger. But I have full size GPU.
Wouldn't you have better cpu temps with the power supply flipped upside down from its current config?
before build this, first, you need a table.
Nice build! But why didn't you flip the power supply the other way so it can act as an exhaust of the CPU cooler?
Upgrade? The original still performs like a race car! The only thing I would add to mine is another hard drive! Anyone wanting to buy the case, Overclockers rocks! I was confused about my selections on the website but a few phone calls later the case was perfect!
I am Brazil, good job your Chanel RUclips. Sorry for my english.

You rock man. Can't wait to see the new build.
Your "main rig" is so small, my Asustor NAS bay are larger and it only capable to store 2 HDD's
Shouldn’t you build an NAS to store your video footage or archive for backups?
The porn music is an awesome touch.
Woah there, we don’t do that here. Try “chill step or chill beats”
still sounds like porn music
Glad you’re back, look forward to seeing some more case reviews! Agree on their cables, i have them in my ncase m1 and they’re awesome. Having a hard time keeping gpu cool (1070ti, tried 1080 blower too) in m1, curious to hear your thoughts on metallic gear mini-itx
Ooooooo, you got the XTD!!! CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS ONE!!! 🥺🥺🥺
Never ever seen that case. Dope af.
Nice upgrade. I have a set of PSlate cables for my Ghost S1, bit of money but worth every penny.
Cool, my current build is based on a LZ7 too. Actually, I saw your previous video about it and I felt in love with the case. Instead of Intel, I used a Ryzen 1700x, but the PSU and the GPU was the same, even the cooler is the same. I was thinking on upgrading the internals and now I see this video, I want to upgrade even more.
However, I will wait for a bit, I am short on cash and I want to see if a mini 2080/2080 super is released. I was thinking about a Ryzen 3700, but maybe by the time I decide to upgrade, there's a 4080 and a Ryzen 4700 or something, we'll see.
Have you seen the LZ7 project with space for longer GPU and PSU moved to the front? It's really cool. I mean it has cooling improved! ;D .. *DUDE I'm like commenting half way thru the video and BOOM! at the end.. lol Great shot of the open panel. With the new cables, the case can stay open - looks so good. Can't wait for your next build
Yea, maybe I should have put that in the middle. I'll be sure to add some extra pics to the article.
Too much SSD, almost overkill. should have gone for NAS instead for storing movies and musics
Would be amazing if the Asus GeForce RTX 2070 DUAL MINI fit in this case
So this is why Pslate cant build my god damn cables till mid october? cause hes doing this? well i must say...i approve lol
Ha, I have had these cable for several months actually. When he went on a break I held off on the vid.
You are certainly a better builder than I. Hats off to you, I wouldn't dream of building in a case this small.
Jay, is there any chance you’re selling this personal rig. Please let me know man, love the content btw!
Such a sweet little build.
Nice work again my friend! Cant wait until the next video!
I was thinking of building a new HTPC that can play 4k videos and had some questions.
My plan was to use a low end Intel 1151 Coffee Lake but it looks like most Mini ITX boards only support HDMI 1.4 (4k at 30 fps max).
Since the onboard HDMI would be a bottleneck I would have to buy something like a GT 1030 to get HDMI 2.0 but I don't know if Coffee Lake
has enough procesing power to decode in software. I could use the Coffee Lake's onboard GPU to decode the video but I don't know if the GPU will output to the GT 1030's HDMI.
Do you have any experience with this? If you have parts and time would you be willing to do some testing? I was planning to use LibreElec which can be run off a USB fllash drive.
I mean, you could just use the actual dedicated GPU instead of the iGPU, cause the 1030's faster. You wouldn't have to worry about outputting to a certain HDMI either.
@@isaacstoltz9776 Like I said I was planning on using LibreElec/Kodi which is linux based. It doesn't support CUVID/NVDEC so I can't use the GPU for decoding.
I would have to use the CPU to decode in software then the 1030 would just display the decoded video. This is why I was asking for him to test if he could.
I would love to decode the video with VA-API on the iGPU then send it to the 1030 but I don't even know if that's possible.
Add me with a +1 recommendation for PSLATE. I got non-sleeved customs cables for my Nouvolo Steck assembly (Which of course got inspired by Tek's original video). They are truly a worthy investment just by the amount of space they free-up and the ease of routing, pre-bending the cables to match your components is something you don't think too much about until you start building in such compact cases.
Nice, how did that turn out. I would love to see some pics
I got my cables from pslate for my nuovolo steck before the case was released -- despite pre-release he did a great job sizing. What I liked is I just told him the SFX case I was using, PSU, GPU, etc, and he took care of the rest. Not having to gamble that I'm taking sizes correctly was killer.
Nice, the service he provides is excellent. We are lucky to have him.
Anybody know the lengths for the cables featured in this vid?
Nice build I would love to know your temps cpu, gpu and mb vrm’s I put together my first itx build a couple of day ago i went with a bigger case a white thermaltake core v1 because i was using a 3600 and a 5700xt. Im really surprised by the build it runs pretty cool and quiet and im actually using a wraith prism cooler off my 3900x. Its not my main rig but i can see why people like itx so much. My main gaming rigs are a 8700k & 2080ti, 3900x & Radeon Vii, my itx and a 2700x & 2080. I love benchmarking and testing games.
That little case is what inspired me of creating my own PC since well I live in a very small place
Phil of Pslate is awesome.
He will make cables to order as well. See a custom routing solution you like? Send Phil a picture and he'll quote it.
His work made my dual rad open loop ncase m1 possible.
You should have a mini itx smackdown between the LZ7 and MI-6! 😃 personally I think the LZ7 justifies it's price more.
Yes... While I like both cases... The LZ7 outperforms the Mi-6... but not a bad idea.
@@Tekeverything I think the appeal of both cases is they could be considered "true" itx. Limiting the selection of gpus, cpu coolers, power supply, number of storage drives... I almost perfer having less choices. Now just down to which two... 🤔
Timely video to see, I am planning my own build in that case. First build in a VERY long time. And while I'm going with a Ryzen 3700x, the gpu will be the same as what you used here...though I didn't know the 2070 super was going to be availble in a mini/itx version.
I also really like your use of all M.2 drives and will be using that idea, thanks! I will, most likely, go with a 1tb nvme drive as my boot drive and use 2 Intel 660p 2 tb drives in those enclosures as storage drives. Not sure if the main boards I can choose from will have one or two M.2 slots on them, if there are two, then a third 2 tb 660p drive will be the other one. Not exactly sure which drive I'll settle on as the boot drive.
Finally, thank you very much for the heads up about PSlate Customs! I figured that custom cable would be the way to go and having a good recommendation for some one who knows the LZ7 case will make that process MUCH easier--I was getting a bit nervous about having to specify lengths and maybe not getting that quite right. The added bonus of having multiple color choices as well is just cool.
Thank you for sharing this with us!
Thanks for watching, glad I could help. The 2070 mini supers were announced but no release date has been set. I think Zotac has a mini-ish 2070 mini out right now.
@@Tekeverything , All the Zotac mini cards seem to be just a bit too long for this case though. Been saving my nickels for a while now and will start ordering parts this week, which means I'm not going to wait for the super. Frankly, I'm upgrading from a fairly decent laptop so the 2070, super or not, will be a major improvement over what I'm used to. And I won't let "best" get in the way of plenty good enough! :)
@@Tekeverything , in the week since I have received all the parts for my new pc--except for the case, that's not here yet--and right now it is assembled and running on my desk. Tolerably quiet with no case, effectively silent with non-gaming stuff and not too annoying even while gaming. Really looking forward to the case, though! (and awaiting the notice from PSlate customs when he starts taking orders again)
Can you make a similar build based only on AMD? That would be quite interesting, considering how AMD kicks ass recently.
Love their CPU's... not in love with their GPU's
When in your words "airflow is a premium", why would you use a thermal pad instead of thermal paste? If it was me I'd fully delid the thing and attach the cooler straight onto the die with liquid metal. Would be nice to see some thermals. Might have to dig out the original build video.
The difference in temps after switching to pads has been about 1-2 degrees. You can game at 5GHz on an 8700K comfortably.
LZ7 has a big bro with full size GPU Support!?
Dude LZ7 XD!
Why not go to a liquid cooling for their PC will it fit it the case just wondering
doubt it'll fit lol this is really small for that. But maybe if you do some custom parts or something you might be able to get it to fit barely. What i'm saying is, it's going to take a lot of skills to get that done if possible.
isnt the point of a no compromise build to go all out so you dont need to upgrade?
Nice content. Will be nicer if you show those thermals etc.
Got the same case and love it! My config is 3700X on Gigabyte X570 ITX with Noctua LH-12S and it has 1 mm clearance. Got to upgrade those cables. Best is that it fits into my backpack and I take it on my work trips.
Nice, what temps are you seeing with the 3700X
@@Tekeverything Got to test it now because, right after lunch I was hitting 95C, but this old bios was using 1.5V during benchmark.
@@Tekeverything 91 deg C during most stressful burn test. Probably have to apply thermal paste better when I will be replacing those SF450 cables.
I would get that case but I just absolutely hate the external fan grill and I just wish to place the power button where the GameCube had the original power button at have the reset button where it was at on the gcn maybe gut a GameCube pc adapter hub to add that GameCube feel
You could just use a different side panel... but you would lose the great airflow
That rig. Looks awesome
Never been one for flashy rbg crazy builds. Just ordered parts to do something similar to this, one of my favourite builds on YT, nice work!
Wish i could order this case ( no shipping)
I love how his graphics card upgrade is hardly an upgrade, 1080 and 2070 are almost identical in performance. So unless he just really wants RTX this was a big waste of money.
In real world use the difference is about 5-10 frames on average. You also get ray tracing support. The new card also has better cooling, and an idle fan mode... so its not really a waste at all
Tek Everything gotcha, cooling is probably the biggest thing. I have a Gigabyte GTX 1080 mini in a lian li tu 100b with a Ryzen 3700x so it’s a little toasty.
Rig looking clean tho
@6:00 Wait what? Am i mistaken or did you say you replaced a 1080 mini with a 2070 mini? The 2070 is at best a few frames faster O_o. Maybe 10%.
Significant performance boost, + Ray Tracing Support, + better cooling, + I make RUclips videos and I'm not hunting for value
@@Tekeverything Well fair enough ... i still doubt the "significant" performance boost, and i still do not see a significant advantage in Ray Tracing (and no i do not count Minecraft which has default no/terrible lighting as this is just unfair it could look much better if Microsoft would try even without Ray Tracing) ... but ok it is your money. So spend it on what you want :).
I thought when you use an adapter for an M.2 card down to SATA you only get SATA performance? So you are not getting the full M.2 IOPS. SATA is an older technology.
860 EVO's are M.2 SATA drives. Not NVMe drives.
@@Tekeverything Oh, makes sense.
Could you list the cable lengths by chance? I'm looking to work with the LZ7 and would love some insight on the cables and lengths used. Thanks!
I thought that case was a psu
Wow. Pretty cool.
Commenting for the Al Gore Rhythm.
Dope pun
This convinces me that I should build a small pc like this. Thanks!
Nice. That's a good looking case.
Nice work jay..tight system :)
Thanks!
Looks like a pretty tight fit, dont single fan video cards make alot of noise + heat?
They typically make more noise than cards with full sized coolers. You can check out the review I did of the card to hear a sound test.
If you're running those NVME SSDs over a SATA cable, you aren't getting any of the speed benefits of that NVME interface, and might as well have gone for all SATA M.2 drives and saved some money.
Yeah he said the ones running over sata cables are only sata drives not nvme
The 860 Evo is an M.2 SATA drive... as I mentioned in the video
I might be confused, did those enclosures each hold 2? It looked like each of those could hold 2 of the drives in them and you had 2 in each. Since the video didn't really show the drives being installed on the motherboard, thats where my confusion might be coming from.
I watched the video, and had to rewatch it to find the Sabrent enclosures. I'm going to upgrade my Dad's PC's hard drive, and those would be a good investment for future proofing the investment when it's eventually stripped for parts. Please add those to your parts list above with your affiliate link :)
idk how it is for your build but heres an itx tip. put the cables in the mobo, install psu, connect cables to psu.
You need to ditch Intel and go Ryzen.
i need a solution similar to notebook. case slim like 12 cm and large like u want. where i can mount a monitor like notebook.can u help me ?
Wow this PC is impressive!!!
Can't wait to see the build in the new case!
Does it not make a difference in cooling whether the cooling fins are aligned with the airflow?
I found that having the heat pipes facing the fan produced the best results.
this case is very elegant
Also, Silverstone's SFX psus can fit a cable set called the PP05E, can be hard to find but worth it. Super flexible, all black flat cables that I use whenever I can. The connectors are also standard Silverstone, so a Silverstone ATX PSU can also work if the case allows it.
I want a mini PC like this, my card will never fit in one though
console got bigger pc got smaller
Can you tell me whatre those thin sata data cables that you used for m.2 adapters?
I like your show better than Linus. ITX Rules! ;)
Please get yourself a NAS! Having music, films and mission critical documents will free up that internal storage. Raid O those SATA drives 🤘
I have a large external that backs up everything. I don't really need a NAS yet at this point... but one day
This build is sick! Really compact and with internal sfx psu. Good job. Oh and I built a new custom all in one Itx case with integrated 13" panel and tv. For the Pc showcase series, if you are still running it. Cheers.
Send over some pics, I'd love to see that
Holy shit. I didn't know sfx PSU's were THAT small
How does it handle heat wise?
Sweet build! Did you consider an HDPlex 400W PSU for the build? Might help save up more space and improve air flow!
I have, I will probably do a build with one in here at some point
Great video
this is not ok,.......u need to turn the power suply, ask GamersNexus
damn man no temperature comparisons from the previous version to this one? I would have liked to see how big a difference though cables would make.
The difference wasn't that big to be honest. The biggest difference was the noise levels. Everything is definitely quieter now.
Hi Jay, this may be a stupid question, but did you have any thermal concerns using 2.5" enclosures for the m.2 SATA SSDs?
No, none at all. The 860's run really cool since they are SATA drives with limited speed. The enclosures I'm using are also metal, so they do a decent job of dissipating any heat that may build up.
thanks mate. whats your soundcard? any good?
The Fiio K5 Pro. I jus picked it up... It's a really good and affordable DAC/AMP. Loving it so far.
@@Tekeverything thanks. Will check it. Looks simple and neat. Too many have this horrible gamer aesthetic.
No Pasta Cable anymore. Like the SFF build as always.
How much its cost?
Bro why didn’t you show the part where you install the gpu?
me gustan muchos tus ensambles mini itx , excelente video .
That type of system isn't one I'd ever use, but hot damn it's cool.
is that portable when using all ssd?
Absolutely
??? 4 M.2 drives? That board has at most 2 slots.
Oh...I see. That seems awfully complicated for having them later for a laptop. I wouldn’t put a SATA M.2 in a laptop anyway.
why not? m.2 is way faster and for laptop, (new ones) they normaly have a m.2 slot now, its way faster than hdd ,sshd and ssd , and its getting affordable, beside samsung ...
@@AsbestosBeard m.2 is not faster, it's a form factor. A SATA M.2 like those 860's are just smaller versions of 2.5 in drives. NVMe protical is the speedy one. He stuck 2 into a converter for later, but that is more expensive than just buying a standard ssd. Most laptops have only one M.2 slot. I would only use an NVMe drive.
