Damn, y'all broke this album down so beautifully. Cole had so much content that was complex yet simple that really had you thinking and y'all delved into it in such detail. Best review of this album yet👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
It was pretty surface-level stuff honestly. He did very little to dive deeper into the topics he was discussing and more often than not just ended up sounding self-masturbatory or preachy
Tyler Lovett I think you’re not totally wrong. I think songs like Friends and Once An Addict were really amazing substantive songs, but the album as a whole is a little more shallow then i wanted.
People trashed on this album way more than they should’ve. People are so afraid of change but expect the same music to please them forever. Excellent album.
Jerard Deal frfr people who trashed this album didn’t understand the full message... KOD and 4YEO were probably his best story telling albums in my opinion but they are regarded as his worst projects by many people
Dude ... it’s 1 am I got work tomorrow I just sat my ass and watched y’all react to an album I done heard about 10 times already but it was all worth it to see y’all reaction
I rolled a few joints, I watched it on my 60" so I can feel like George and Ryan are actually hanging out with me .. There I am talking to a tv screen..
I swear that Once An Addict was written about me. My mother was wrecked by a breakup with my dad. Tried to take her life on my 12th Birthday. Used to sleep in her bed every night to keep an eye on her. Afraid to play outside because she’d vomit in her sleep and I’d have to turn her on her side and clean her up. My All Green was The Five Heartbeats on a constant loop. This song choked me up. Couldn’t even help myself. Damn
00tuoyo mother got clean and sober. Forgave and reunited with dad. And 25 years later I’ve managed to raise well adjusted, college bound children. Not a perfect life, but a happy ending...up to this point
rnaefaletui that's why I'm subscribed to them. No one else really tries to breakdown the lyrics and truly listen. They don't go this deep into every song. They just try and feel the vibe and don't offer any unique take even if they don't like it.
I honestly think 1985 wasn’t a diss. It was like you guys said he was just trying to relate and teach them. They only took it as a diss because he’s right
I agree. In the track he also mentions how he likes seeing a black man get money, and lil pump isnt black. That could be picking at straws but I think if cole was really gonna personally diss someone we would know for sure. I think he was generally talking about the scene
Honestly, I cried as soon as he said “have to see my hero on ground zero” in high school I had to deal with my moms alcohol addiction. I felt every word that he said. POWERFUL man.
GODDAMN. I'm not a hip hop guy in any way, shape or form but, mad respect to J Cole. This album was incredible to my ears and I can't thank you guys enough for showing this side of music to this metalhead. Amazing review guys. You're the best react/review channel. There's not even a competition, you guys have something special here, so whatever you do, keep it going.
I know this is completely unrelated but have you heard To Pimp A Butterfly, I was adamantly against rap at the time it came out, but on a whim i gave it a listen and it literally changed my life. I didn't like it at first but it's a grower for sure.
I'm not one to comment on social media, especially RUclips at that. This damn well might be my first comment on here. But I just wanna let you guys know that you guys picked this album apart incredibly. Been rockin' with you guys since 15K, and still love every release you guys drop. Keep up the hard work guys, we know y'all hustling to get these out and we appreciate all the content! Much love fellas!
Visiting this 6 years later and still one of my favorite albums of all time, J Cole is just amazingly gifted. The story telling, the subject matter, the offering guidance, while also keeping it entertaining.
U guys analyze albums and music so maturely that u make me think of it from a diff perspective bc im 17 and his album greatly impacted my view on things bc i am going thru very similar things rn. And u guys explaining so well makes me understand it even more
I completely agree Once an Addict was one the realest songs almost felt my like my life's story. To me J.cole is like Tupac in away that you become emotionally connected to there music because you know comes from a place many can relate to. I think he's a great lyricist because he can get his point across without doing lyrical acrobatics on your head with just as much depth that's also why I hate when people say Pac not a lyricist but say he was a poet
I wish you guys put more ads in this video 😂😂😂 I would’ve watched them all the way through to make sure y’all received the well deserved revenue for this amazing review! I know you all are not about the money however greatness should definitely be compensated!
George! I had the EXACT reaction to the last half of the album (I enjoyed the WHOLE thing). Cole is a LEGEND in my eyes. This album was a MASTERPIECE imo. 10/10 P.S. I don't know why, but the very first time i heard "Window Pain" I LITERALLY teared up listening to it....The way the drums hit in my headphones and the story of the little girl combined with the lyrics and flow. It was crazy.....I've gotten goosebumps from Cole before, but I never had that happen before. 😅
AncientPulse yeah man it made me cry too. No one understands that unless you’ve been through it and that’s the most hurtful thing. I’m crying typing this because it’s a hurtful thing for real. Stay strong fam 💯 I feel it
Damn. Just...Damn. This album is fire, and the reaction suits the album. You always break songs down so that they make sense, particularly for those of us who have not grown up with hip hop. This album hearkens back to the old concept albums, and it is worth the listen. #freethinkers I'd like to hear you react to Lingus by Snarky Puppy. That is all.
I just watched an hour long reaction which is unheard of especially for me, and your deconstruction of this album and the message that it conveys is mind blowing; I'm not saying this just because I'm a Cole fan but you really took the time to peel back the layers and went deep with the analysis. I think you should create your own website to rival genius lyrics (this may be a stretch though lool)... *Great Review*. It's unfortunate I can't give more than one thumbs up
One of the reasons why someone told me they didn't like the album was because they said that J. Cole broke his own theme with songs like Photograh; mostly because of the name of the album. My response is always: No he didn't. The last line of the of KOD set it all up. The strongest drug to be addicted to is love. Whether it be the love of things like money and drugs, people like women, or abstracts like fame and temptation. It's why you love those things that should be important and why you should "Choose Wisely". Are you hiding from something? Depression, your environment, or your past perhaps? Idk I feel like Cole has ascended to Legendary status by this point, and as such the album is gonna be a Classic, at least in my book
Amazing Album by J Cole and Superb Reaction/Review that I had to mark the Highlights - ( Treacherous Instagram Filters 6:50 ) ( Ryan & George Synchronized breakdown 17:57 ) ( Ryan flowing on the cake scheme 29:09 ) ( Funny Richard Pryor Interlude 33:40 ) ( DAMN , Dat boi good lmao 37:36 ) ( Hilarious George Segment Part One 39:10 ) ( Hilarious George Segment Part Two 44:25 ) ( Hilarious George Segment Part Three 48:21 ) ( STRAIGHT 🔥🔥🔥 55:41 ) ( Talk To Em Cole !!! 1:03:36 ) ( Love & Hip-Hop the new Ether 1:05:40 )
This album is definitely a grower. All the tracks grow on you the more you listen and the more you catch and resonate with the messages he's sending. This album is deep, and the melodies and cadences definitely synchronize more and more the more you lend your ear to this project. Props to Jermaine for this one, Cole World.
First listen through I loved the album. Your guys’ review spoke my thoughts and feelings and invoked new thoughts and feelings for it and also heightened my appreciation for this album and Cole himself as an artist. I’m 20 years old and I’m thankful I listen to artists like Cole who push real, deep, content with their art. I could easily be like every other kid my age lost in trap music, drugs, trends, etc. Its albums like this (and as a nod to you guys also reviews on albums like this) that further open my eyes to more realizations in life itself and I’m thankful for that. That’s a powerful thing. Could even have more to say in this comment but overall just a good review of a good album and I’m thankful for finding your guys’ channel and subscribing. Much love, respect, and appreciation. 💯
Is it bad that I watched almost every second? LOOOL man yall got good ears for real music this is what I love about this channel. Also, this album’s a treasure. Cole World ❤️
I was thinking the same thing when listening to Once An Addict. That's by far my favorite song on the album, just because of how vivid and powerful of a song it was. It almost brought me to tears because of how real it was.
Great album, "Once an addict" hit me on a very personal level too. There were some specific things he said on that track that I've gone through, it made me tear up. This whole album makes me glad there's someone like Cole not just in hip hop but in the music industry who I feel is trying to bring everyone to the table to have a conversation about their personal problems and the problems going on in the world and, like you said, is straight forward with it. Beautiful stuff man. And another great reaction guys! I love it when George gets on that "y'all don't even know" mode and he's trying to pause the video so he can go crazy over the song but he looks like he's having trouble pausing it 🤣🤣🤣
You guys are some of the dopest people on youtube man. Your reviews elevate what I take away from the conscious music. Love the self awareness too about the mumble rap!
once an addict is such a homer for me this shit is how i felt in high school dealing with my mom and no one can understand this shit but this song was a punch to my heart foreal
You know, I was watching this reaction again (It's been like 3 times on certain parts now haha), but I JUST realized something. I don't think "1985" ONLY applies to the rap game. I think it applies to the reaction channels as well. Sooner or later all of these reaction channels that just focus on the vibe, rather than the content, are eventually going to be outgrown. Their viewers are going to get older and begin looking for more in depth commentary. THEN they'll come to this channel, but "to tell them what they should do, who the fuck am I?"
Love how you guys review everything at face value and not judge it for not being the next Picasso. Favorite reaction/review channel on youtube. Keep it up mang.
Ive watched alot of your videos and have been impressed multiple times, and also disagreed a few times, but what i always come away with is a complete respect for how you guys analyze address and digest music and lyrics. With all that being said im glad i was slacking a bit and today became the day i subscribed to the channel due to how unbelievably on point i feel you guys are with your analysis here.💯
Once an addict! That is my life, stayed out when i was in high school cause i couldn't come home to see my momma like that, got home like 11 and 12 pm.. This song is my life in every word! I am in uni now and the struggle is still real tho I believed it would have changed! #Jcole knows
I LOVE this reaction channel. You guys are my favourite reaction channel. You guys did not just rush this into a 30min reaction, but you took your time. Understanding that with rap, you cannot just rush. Rap is poetic. (either good, or bad). You need articulation, and I love that you guys took your time reviewing the beats, the wordplay, the themes, the intrumentalssss. I LOVE YOU GUYS. heard this album last week, but its nice to hear this long review, I honestly learned and appreciated this album even more because of it. I believe JCole is the closest thing to Tupac in this generation. Hes not him, but he is as real amd cutthroat as him. He talks about issues. I love this man. He uses his voice as an instrument. Singing, different alterations, EVERYTHING. But just to add, this 1985 is not a diss track:). He refers to the "guy/person" as a bad image for black folk. you are black. I love this.
1985 really made me reflect on the songs and artist that got me into hip hop. I can tell you that I don’t listen to them anymore with the exception of a few songs that have that nostalgia factor, but I wouldn’t understand the genre at the level I do today without them.
Your guys in depth reaction is honestly, very refreshing. You guys break down the complexities of the flow, lyricism and the beats so well. By far the best on youtube. Most of the music reaction videos are of the dudes just bobbing their heads and going crazy on some simple lines, but not breaking it down. Only guys close to you are the lawtwins because they break it down pretty well but George, your knowledge of hip hop and music in general, is something that is not on youtube at all.
You never disappoint. I've been waiting just to hear your reaction to Brackets. Love what he has to say on that track. Also my dad raised me on Richard Pryor and that shit had me dying. George you mentioned it a couple times but I don't know how anyone thinks Cole is boring, jazz and hip hop to me are the perfect pairing. Throw some mumble rappers on a smooth jazz beat and I'll eat that shit up 😅. Only through the first half, I'll pick it up again later but mad respect for you pushing this out so quick ✌️
When I saw the reaction was an hour I was awe man but you guys dissect it so well. Had me peeping stuff I didn’t really get during my playthrough. And I agree with George when you experience what he’s talking about you appreciate the lyrics so much more. I appreciate the review.
Damn this is literally as good as a review could ever get, a piece of art in itself, the way you’re delving into the feeling and meaning of these songs goes beyond reaction and transcends into a form of art in itself
Special request here. My grandmother liked watching your country song videos with me. She passed away last night... Would you guys be able to react to Alan Jackson's "Remember When" in her memory?
i been watching this everyday ever since the video came out , KOD is my favorite album ever , i relate to it too much and the fact that george and ryan also knew what he was talking about made this album more powerful for me , knowing there's other people who understand and im not alone , this album is just too real for me. thank you guys , been here since the channel was small , we come a long way guys ☝

David Rodriguez by far the best reaction, George was feeeeling it lol
And especially finding this video after learning the songs and just loving their reaction to it.

I honestly think 1985 wasn’t a diss. It was like you guys said he was just trying to relate and teach them. They only took it as a diss because he’s right

And hes not impressed from listening to their music obviously lol

I was thinking the same thing when listening to Once An Addict. That's by far my favorite song on the album, just because of how vivid and powerful of a song it was. It almost brought me to tears because of how real it was.
Same. Huge Cole fan and out of all of his projects I've listened to, this has to be one of his top songs
This is the best reaction I've seen of this album. So special keep it up. 👍👌💪💯
You guys are my go too!!!! When it comes to music review's!!! This is def a "ted talks" type of album. I dig it🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yesss🎉 Cole came with the Fire 🔥 with this one.
Hi guy’s 🙋🏿♀️
Ummm we need some Lost in Vegas merchandise 🤷🏾♀️ luv y’all!
y'all genuine af man I love y'all
Y'all deserve so many more subs 😤😤😤😤😤😤
Great album, "Once an addict" hit me on a very personal level too. There were some specific things he said on that track that I've gone through, it made me tear up. This whole album makes me glad there's someone like Cole not just in hip hop but in the music industry who I feel is trying to bring everyone to the table to have a conversation about their personal problems and the problems going on in the world and, like you said, is straight forward with it. Beautiful stuff man.
And another great reaction guys! I love it when George gets on that "y'all don't even know" mode and he's trying to pause the video so he can go crazy over the song but he looks like he's having trouble pausing it 🤣🤣🤣
I keep coming back to this 1+ hour video! Probably because this is the best music reviewing channel and KOD is one of the greatest albums of all times
I was amazed by this reaction just like I was by the album. Can’t thank you guys enough for all of the detail you go into!
So happy to see this is the whole album's review, well worth the wait boys. Thank you for your continued hard work, keep it going!
You guys are some of the dopest people on youtube man. Your reviews elevate what I take away from the conscious music. Love the self awareness too about the mumble rap!
This reaction is just perfect and on point🔥👌🏼
Been here since gang related reaction and I thought those were some good reactions bro y’all gotta do more full album reactions y’all are the best🔥
Yes you have my man! You always hold us down bro! Thank you!
By far the best review I have seen on RUclips for this album. I normally don’t even comment on videos but I had to, you guys did an amazing job.
Thanks bro!
once an addict is such a homer for me this shit is how i felt in high school dealing with my mom and no one can understand this shit but this song was a punch to my heart foreal
Thanks bros was waiting for it
Shout out from Mexico City 🙋
J.Cole gotta sit down and watch this review to see that people actually know what he's saying and we don't miss what he's saying
😶
Look they at 1 million subs now
Love how you guys review everything at face value and not judge it for not being the next Picasso. Favorite reaction/review channel on youtube. Keep it up mang.
true !
Y’all made that hour fly by wow thank you for being so insightful
Every review is fire!
Ive watched alot of your videos and have been impressed multiple times, and also disagreed a few times, but what i always come away with is a complete respect for how you guys analyze address and digest music and lyrics. With all that being said im glad i was slacking a bit and today became the day i subscribed to the channel due to how unbelievably on point i feel you guys are with your analysis here.💯
We appreciate that bro!
KOD Deserves more appreciation than it received, honestly
Once an addict! That is my life, stayed out when i was in high school cause i couldn't come home to see my momma like that, got home like 11 and 12 pm.. This song is my life in every word! I am in uni now and the struggle is still real tho I believed it would have changed! #Jcole knows
😭
check out darren waller's story
best reaction video PERIOD.. of all time!!! lol for real though... great great job!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thanks bro!
A whole hour? Way to spoil us lol
Yo 5 years later and watching this reaction is absolute gold, love the channel and especially when y’all reacting to Cole!!
1985 really made me reflect on the songs and artist that got me into hip hop. I can tell you that I don’t listen to them anymore with the exception of a few songs that have that nostalgia factor, but I wouldn’t understand the genre at the level I do today without them.
Two Exams in like 6 hours but hey🤷🏾♂️ y’all post I watch.
Yall never cease to amaze me with your reviews. Dope review as always!
Every artist needs to listen to your reviews. Only one out here giving actual reviews with plausible reasoning
BloodCrow And imo they're the only ones that you can listen to for over an hour without it getting boring
On god
Fantano? DEHH?
Your guys in depth reaction is honestly, very refreshing. You guys break down the complexities of the flow, lyricism and the beats so well. By far the best on youtube. Most of the music reaction videos are of the dudes just bobbing their heads and going crazy on some simple lines, but not breaking it down. Only guys close to you are the lawtwins because they break it down pretty well but George, your knowledge of hip hop and music in general, is something that is not on youtube at all.
I honestly loved this video, you gave us a understanding of the lyrics and meaning but still let us come to the conclusion if we are vibing with it
You never disappoint.
This might be one of the best videos I’ve ever seen
When I saw the reaction was an hour I was awe man but you guys dissect it so well. Had me peeping stuff I didn’t really get during my playthrough. And I agree with George when you experience what he’s talking about you appreciate the lyrics so much more. I appreciate the review.
Damn this is literally as good as a review could ever get, a piece of art in itself, the way you’re delving into the feeling and meaning of these songs goes beyond reaction and transcends into a form of art in itself
Bring back full album reviews 😭😭
Straight fire! Had this album on repeat 🙏🏽
Special request here. My grandmother liked watching your country song videos with me. She passed away last night... Would you guys be able to react to Alan Jackson's "Remember When" in her memory?
Aaron Clapper 🙏🏾🙏🏾
RIP to your grandma🙏🏾. Keep your head up. She’s in a better place.
No ty
Aaron Clapper, too much feels on this track. But its a good one and I think they should do it.
RIP to your grandmother man my condolences
LETS GOOO THE BEST CHANNEL!!!
Always loved this album but your reaction gave me a new found knowledge and appreciation for it. Thanks y'all 🔥🔥🔥
i been watching this everyday ever since the video came out , KOD is my favorite album ever , i relate to it too much and the fact that george and ryan also knew what he was talking about made this album more powerful for me , knowing there's other people who understand and im not alone , this album is just too real for me. thank you guys , been here since the channel was small , we come a long way guys ☝
