This video reminds me of my STS class. One of the lessons we had there was how the development in communication affected our society, and created the modern world we know and live in today. I remember watching this video when I was in Grade 7, but back then I didn’t understand the implications of this technological advances in communication. It was only when I entered college and started taking a class about the relationship of Science, Technology and Communication when I truly understood how important this advancements were.

+clebicus helcehem - We are never too advanced. For fishes walking on Earth was advancement, for monkeys lighting a fire was advancement, for people living a century ago radio was advancement and for us maybe vacation in Mars will be advancement. We are continously evolving and so are our technologies. Btw what and where do you study?
I study the origins of human advancement and how humans came to be. Also, i think us coming from monkeys is very realistic but hard to compensate. When we die, i guess it's over. : (
Sorry to dissapoint you but it won't be. Dinosaurs were the most dominant animal of their time. There death didn't end the world. Maybe new and better species will take over earth if humans die. Or maybe some human which will survive will make the world even better.
The proper study of mankind is man. We cannot imagine the world without communication. Thank you sir for having presented us Audio and Video visuals with rich valuable information.
The oldest known text (employed by Stone Age people) was a simple geometric code where astronomical values were converted to a angular values. The same angular values are found in geometrical patterns all around the world. In the Americas,. In Australia, In Siberia, In Africa, and in Europe. The same angular values are used in the earliest Mesopotamian and Chinese Texts, and Irish Ogham.

+Michal Wabich - Thanks a lot. We also want a human narrator but we are facing some challenges. Hopefully in near future you will hear a human voice. Till then bear with Jenny.
Well actually you missed phryctoriae. It is depicted in in the "Lord of the Rings: The return of the king" movie: it's the telecommunication system that Gandalf and Pippin used to call the Rohirim for help. Phryctoriae system was used in ancient Greece since 1,900 BC. The ancient tragedian Aeschylus supports in his work "Agamemnon" that with the use of phryctoriae system the army of the Greeks sent to their homeland the message that they won the war against the Trojans in quite short time.
Pardon us for not using the correct name and the event that you mentioned, but in the video(01:07) we have discussed about smoke signals. which is very similar that.
@@LTE4G I'm sorry if my first comment seems a bit impolite but that was not my intention... I'm a not a native English speaker and maybe I expressed myself in an incorrect way. You've done a great job in the video! I just added some information about an ancient telecommunication system. Phryctoriae and smoke signals have indeed similarities. The basic difference is that the first system uses the light the fire produces, while the second uses the smoke. That's why the first system could convey messages over long distances in a much shorter period of time than the second one. What I found very impressive when I first came across information about phryctoriae is that 3,200 years ago (Trojan war time) people used this system to convey a message over a sea (Aegean Sea) and 400 km away (from Troy to Mycenae) within just several minutes!
@@petrosts9846 - There's no need to apologise. We were not offended at all and English is not our mother tongue so we understand your point. Infact it is such feedback which inspires us to work hard on the content and we always appreciate engagement from the viewers. Yes the technology or the idea of using fire for long distance communication was really impressive. Maybe similar idea gave rise to lighthouses. In our current world, where we are surrounded by so many gadgets/technologies it's really hard to imagine how life was in ancient time. That's why it's very important to take pause and appreciate all the advancements that human have achieved over the years.
Really apologise for the audio and really appreciate the feedback. We were focused on the content and never thought the audio will be a problem. but we learnt from our mistake and moved to human voice now. We also re-uploaded some of the old videos with human voice. I hope you find our new videos less monotonous. Happy Learning.
