In 1998, Indonesia was really affected by the 1998 Asian Financial Crisis and high price of fuel and food trigger protest particularly by the university student all across the country. In short Suharto (the President/Dictator of Indonesia at the time) managed to quell the protest because the student didn't have any power or anything. But as time goes one and the crisis became worse, many opposition started in the parliament and the rich also started to dislike the regime, but the worse of all is that the Indonesian military willingly started to take side to the student (which is shocking the fact that Indonesia was ruled by the military all these years*) and with opposition from left and right, Suharto has no choice but to abdicate.
This show how important unless there some high ranking official who are willingly to support the protest in Iran than i can say that a revolution wont be happening.
*The reason why the military took side with the student was because the protest was getting really really bad especially after the Trisakti University shooting where police and military force shoot live ammunition's to protestor of whom were university student. As the situation were getting bad many feared Indonesia would collapse and falling into civil war, and so the military decide to take side with the people.

If the Iranian monarchy was restored (which I'm all in favour of), it would undoubtedly be in a constitutional form, to avoid the mistakes of the autocratic regime of the Shah. Of course, if the Shah's heir is the most popular guy to actually lead the country as well, as king he would be both ceremonial head of state and executive head of government simultaneously, much like the President of the United States. Of course, Presidents are elected and have term limits, whereas Kings rule for life and success to the throne based on hereditary right. And there's no guarantee the Iranians would want Reza Pahlavi running things forever, much less his heirs. Rather than trying to create some sort of weird hybrid system, a way around it would be to have him be King and also his own Prime Minister, occupying the two offices separately but simultaneously. Many monarchs have done this in the past, and some Arab Middle Eastern monarchies have this arrangement at present. That way, if he were to be ever voted out he could hand over the Prime Ministership to whomever replaced him, but stay on as monarch, the purely ceremonial head of state.
I believe something similar happened with the former King of Romania, who after the end of the monarchy ran for office and was democratically elected or something like that.
Given how much of the conflict in the Middle-East over the last decades has been fomented and sustained by the Iran-Saudi Arabia-Israel rivalry, having all three regional powers being Western-friendly or at least Western-aligned could bring an unprecedented era of peace for the region, and potentially the world. Especially after Russia's defeat and collapse (God willing), the Syrian regime would be isolated and likely soon fall. It would see the drastic decline worldwide in Islmic extremism and terrorism, which Iran and Saudi Arabia are the two biggest global funders of by far.

Quelling an uprising is a temporary measure, if you have to keep doing it, people eventually lose faith and fear for the government, and at some point will demand change, even if that change endangers their lives. You can't just keep pressing people down and expect them to bend, 'cause eventually they will bend no more.
When this point of no return is, is a very contentious issue and not really known by anyone, but once crossed it can't really just be undone.
Another factor running parrallel to his one, is that if a regime has to continually crush opposition, then eventually even the ones carrying out the violence lose faith in the leaders that they serve, 'cause they begin having ideas of taking power for themselves, seeing as the ruling party has so little faith from the general populace.

This isn't exactly true, or at least the last bit isn't. The people who put down revolts are more likely to be against any change at all.
Look at the Hard Line coup in the fall of the USSR, they were the enforcers who simply wanted to continue putting down the revolts.

Iran vs Saudi rivalry won't change with a democratic Iran. Saudi public sees the Shias as fifth column and Iranian public sees the Saudies as religious extremist worse than own government.
A functional democracy would be an existential threat to the Saudies international standing, which is the foundation of their security policy. What I reckon is when Iranian state weakens, Saudies will fund large scale terrorism to destabilise Iran on ethnic grounds like it happened in Iraq. Saudies attitude is, if they can't rule over it, it's better to burn it down and salt the earth.
Of course, this can't happen if Iranian regime provide meaningful pathways for reform. But there are good arguments for the idea that Iranian regime is foundationally incapable of reform.

I disagree, while the Saudis have made Shias into a sort of fifth column, the recent reforms and changes have changed the outlook of the Saudi government regarding Shia residents within Saudi and Shias in general. MbS is definitely heading towards utterly destroying the foundations of Wahhabism, and have Najd return to the Hanbali school of thought. Due to this, a new government in Iran would be welcomed by Saudi, as it would mean the Houthis would be without funding, and therefore they can be crushed.

I don't think it is really "collapsing", for the autocratic leader of Iran wielding significant power and has never shown any sign of being afraid of losing power at all. If anything, it is aggressively making military threats on its neighbouring Gulf Arab monarchies. A few weeks ago, Bahrain was shocked when Iranian state media claimed Bahrain as a province of Iran, and would return to Iranian rule - a move stunned Saudi Arabia as well (since Saudi Arabia is actively seeking Russian support to curtail Iran). And to justify its solidarity with Russia, it has sold thousands of drones for the Russian Army. The protest is nothing if they cannot become strong and aggressive enough.

How are you assuming that after the collapse a democratic mechanism is going to be automatically established? Was this the case for any other state collapses in the region? For example, Libya or Iraq? What about beyond the region, what this what happened after the fall of the soviet union for example? What happens to the armed followers of the regime spread across the middle east? Are they just going to accept their demise with open arms? What about deeply rooted ethnic conflicts along the boarders of Iran and separatist armed militias? What would be their role? What you presented here is a child’s vision of geopolitics.

Iranian here. Thanks for covering what is happening in Iran. I won’t bother you with correcting some minor errors. But about Reza Pahlavi, his supporters have better media coverage than others and they have been better in showing themselve as a head figure to the western media. But it’s not as simple as that.
Resa Pahlavi do has the support of a section on the society. But most probably not the majority of the population. The stat that you showed is not by any means anything reliable, because it’s impossible to gather statistics from indide the country.
I am have no clue who is going to be the next head of state and actually it doesn’t matter that much now. What matters the most is the next Iranian regime ( finger crossed this one collapse) is going to be a secular democratic state.

As mentionned by others here, there are honestly a lot of things that you have said here that are pretty misleading
First, about the weakness of the regime: yes, generally this sort of widespread protest would several weaken any regime, may they be authoritarian or not. In many cases the army and parts of the elites stop supporting the current leaderhsip or even overthrow them.
But that is forgetting a very important force: the guardians of the revolution. Many repressive regimes have had repressive police secret police forces, but even with that force, they were taken away by revolutions because they were fundementally a police force. Sure you could have units like the KGB and more particularly the SS that had their own armed forces. But they never where more powerful than the actual army. This is not the case in Iran. The guardians of the revolution do not just operate as a secret police force. they also operate a functionning army with all components (land, air and navy) of up to 200 000 soldiers, some of them elite and battle hardened, plus a fanatisced reserve/ political police force with the Bassij of 600 000 people (that are already most of the current repression). You mentionned that "factions in the army" coud try to to do something. No, they could not. Even in the most optimist scenario where almost 100% (which is very unlikely) of the reguar army rebels against the regime, they are still outnumbered and outgunned, having only 400 000 soldiers against fanatical and even elite troops. The guardians of the revolution not only have a ideoligical and political interest in the safekeeping of the regime. Through their companies and fondations, they control up to one third of the iranian economy. For me the lonly scenario where they could be realistically a form of regime change is if the Guardians take directly 100% of the power, putting aside the clerics regime.
Secoundly, you stated that if the regime would collapse, that Pavhali would takeover. This is really just very theoritical speculation, as it is not sure how he would be welcomed back in Iran, since he is not consensual among a majority of the opposition, without even mentioning the Iranian public. Frankly, it is quite complicated to see who could (hypothecially) take over, since most of the organized opposition is small, fractured and exiled, while the opposition in Iran is now massive but completely leaderless.
And finally, Echoing what others have said, I have an impression you don’t seem to consult local sources outside of the west. Sure, finding sources in these types of areas is harder, but I feel you shouldn’t put this type of content out if you don’t know what you are talking about.
