NYC EARTHQUAKE CAUSES UNSTABLE SCAFFOLDING - FDNY RESCUE 1 URGENTLY RESPONDS **Q2B + HEAVY AIRHORN**

As of 10:23 am EST, NYC was struck with tremors as a result of a 4.8 magnitude earthquake with the epicenter at Lebanon, New Jersey.
As a direct result of this, the city was flooded with calls, all similarly reporting questionable structural integrity.
In this video, FDNY Rescue Company 1 “Outstanding” responds to a report of unstable scaffolding in downtown manhattan - box 0135.
Battalion Chief 1 determined the scaffolding to be in good shape, and released all units. Shortly after, Rescue 1 was redirected into another call reporting cracks in a ceiling.

whats the FDNY going to do when a scaffolding is unstable?

They will figure out how to make it stable. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Whether that means they do the job, or work with the construction crew and/or building department, they will figure it out to make it as safe as possible.

If it is confirmed to be unstable to a point where it is unable to maintain integrity until a crew arrives, rescue crews can apply struts to hold up the structure.
