    I like that you included some footage using it instead of just showing it off at home. I think a lot of you tubers would have been eager to talk about the reel and wouldn't have waited to get the footage.

    Hi Rich- It's almost surreal watching you catch bass listening to the Bassmaster Classic knowing you were one place away from being there yourself.😊
    The unboxing was very cool. I liked your new saltwater blue baitcastester reel that you got. You seemed to look like you really enjoyed whacking those bass in the slop on the frog. Keep up the great work!🙌👋

    A bunch of guys down here (Gulf coast TX) are switching from shimano and Lews to those diawas-I still use a 100size Lexa and 2 other TWS models n the salt/brackish water. Diawa makes solid gear

    • @morganyoder4277
      @morganyoder4277 3 года назад +1

      That’s surprising, generally my experience with shimano has been far and above any daiwa reel. The components and casting distance is often good on both, but for me shimano wins out.

    • @HellaBass
      @HellaBass  3 года назад +1

      I agree, I used to be all Shimano, slowly shifted to more of an even split between Shimano and Daiwa

  • @NuteDobbs
    @NuteDobbs 3 года назад +1

    I am also currently throwing frogs on a slightly more fancy saltwater specific Daiwa lol. Og HRF PE special. You wont find this reel in the States but it handles frogs well. Built on the gen 1 tatula frame with stronger gear and spool to jig for rockfish. Its pretty slick.

    Great video! You think this would be a good overall crankbait reel ? Thank you

    • @HellaBass
      @HellaBass  3 года назад +1

      If you can find it in the gear ratio you want, then for sure, extra deep spool and bigger handle would be sweet for cranking

    Hows this reel holding up? Have been eying this one up for quite a while for frogging. I just remembered you did this video. I use 65lb braid and find on my Revo I have been using I cast out all the line frequently.....you have this issue on this deeper spool? Would you recommend as a frog reel with 65lb braid still after using it?

    Could I use this reel for Texas rig, carolina, spinner bait, soft plastic swim baits, and 1/2 oz+ jigs? What Dobyns rod? 704c? Thanks.

    • @HellaBass
      @HellaBass  2 года назад +1

      Yes, absolutely. 704c would be a decent pick, but if I was going to select one rod to do all of those things it would be the Champion XP 734c - omnia.direct/DobynsXPfgc

      @@HellaBass Nice. So you like the 735 for frogs better than the 736, hey? I always see people mentioning the 736 for a frog rod.

    • @HellaBass
      @HellaBass  Год назад

      For heavy mats the 736 is awesome, I like the 735 around where I fish, little more tip for skipping and accurately placing a frog. I also an unlikely to encounter a 7-8lb frog fish where I live. For super heavy matts, use a 746 or 795

    You’ll like those creature hogs. My brother, and I have both had days when things got really tough, and that maxxscent was the only thing they’d eat. We didn’t even realize that we both had the same experience with maxxscent until we started comparing notes. Stuff is legit! I don’t use it if the bite is good (stuffs expensive) but when things get tough I break it out.
