I agree with you Cherry, when my mother was in her last days, doctor said be better stay at home and i take care of her. She couldnt eat normal food, she only was able to taste a cold soup very typical in summer in my country. Every day i carefully prepare that soup and give it to her with a litle spoon as she were a little baby. She was very tired but able to grin a smile. I now how you feel. Thanks also for the lesson about chinese culture. Yes you have a religion indeed. Maybe no name but it is a religion. Thanks so much for sharing. I think next anniversary i wil prepare a soup for my mamy too.
I wanted to reply in Chinese but my level isn’t high enough yet. This is a very moving video and would like to thank you for letting us into this private moment to teach us a lot about Chinese family culture. I’m from a rural area in the US and I lived in China and Taiwan in the past and found that we share so many similarities around the world. We may have different languages, customs, beliefs, etc but we have the same idea of family. In a way it is very special to have traditions and cultures but in other ways it can be very frustrating. Your parents did what they were raised to do based on the culture when they grew up. On the other hand you have a different idea of hospice and giving your grandma what she wants. It’s a battle that is going on all over the world nowadays of cultural ideas vs more modern ideas. Try and not to hold grievance with your parents as hard as that is. I’m sure your grandma understands where they were coming from even though she probably just wanted her pumpkin soup. We all have regrets in life and we look back on things we did or didn’t do and wish we did things differently. But the way to move forward is doing exactly what you’re doing - spending time with the spirit of your grandma and remembering the love and joy she brought to your life. Death is inevitable in life and I am crying a little bit typing this thinking of my grandma but I as I go forward in life I just remember all the great times we had and still utilize so many things she taught me.
I saw this video a few weeks ago and came back to hear it again. It is so touching and moved me to a stream of tears. The sensitivity and humanity you express makes the world a more loving place... You expressed what wanted to be expressed beautifully - the love for your granny..

Actually some Chinese Indonesian also share some culture. Moreover, if the Chinese Indonesian also believe in the three mentioned religions, they will share many similar culture, like the first culture that Cherry mentioned.

Your videos are brilliant for learning Mandarin.. I love them.. The only technical problem is that the English subtitles which I really need are often white on light colours or white Variable picture background.. Which makes them difficult to read.. If you could hard code the English subtitles at the bottom say in black on white that would make them so useful and easy to read.. Why put the different subtitles in different parts ..then your eye has to jump.. In every other way I love your brilliant videos
