This review weirdly convinced me to buy the DERE M11 just now in December 2022. I have an Alienware R13 and HATE Windows 11 more than I hated Vista, so I see the fact that they won't force me to iron out bugs with updates twice a week as a Pro. I'm happy that they nerfed the display for the sake of better CPU/mobo/ram performance. That gaming screencap looked way better than I expected a $300 laptop to do. I love the oldschool physical card reader, usb 2.0 jack and gigabit jack, because we all have those old cables that collect dust but that we can't bear to throw away because they were top-flight in their heyday, and last but not least, look at that bezel minimalism and trackpad size! Look at that bright red that you can't miss even if your girlfriend kicks the laptop under the bed! This is a no-headache, no-expectation-of-being-upgraded-laptop that performs above its pricetag and that you never have to worry about because in 2023 it sells for about $280. I spent more on my R13's keyboard alone. One thing I want to note is that @TechTablets made a small mistake imho, by updating the drivers and junk. When you're buying a cheapo laptop, MAKE SURE TO UPDATE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Driver updates are designed to play nicest with the newest range of applications and protocols. They let you do more. But they do NOT help you do the old ordinary stuff better with older equipment, most of the time. Just use the thing how it comes out of the box and decline any and all update prompts. Troubleshoot only when necessary. Linus advises this, too. Unless you're a god amongst men, you're more likely to make things worse for yourself by fiddling with drivers/OC/bios/regedit/bootdrive stuff. I'm interested to do my own tests and see if the battery life is actually 3ish hours as he reports because low screen brightness usually means better battery life...
I've seen this a lot when looking for n5000 series laptops. It was too good to be true, I knew they would crap out on the build quality, hopefully a new generation of celeron laptops with excellent quality pops up. Still think the Gemibook is miles ahead compared to this!
Well we have Chuwi's new Larkbook X with Celeron N5100 Jasper Lake so hopefully it has a good screen and they have been improving the build quality as for late.
This DERE brand is catching my attention recently. Can u please make a video of the DERE T30 PRO tablet pc🙏? I would love to see how good is that tab. Please please 🙏🙏🙏
I'm also concerned by the apparent lack of HW acceleration for video rendering... Aside for that, how is the BIOS layout, is it fully unlocked? I'm asking because HWInfo showed a max power consumption of just over 10 W, but if the chip is designed to run at a higher power envelope maybe removing the cTDP levels via BIOS can at least give the poor thing a fighting chance. Great content as always and thanks for your dedication!
Thank you. I think it's better to get a mini PC for this kind of money and some cheap monitor if you don't need the mobility. Yeah, not very good laptop, but thanks for the review. Sorry for asking, bur are you gonna review the Realme GT Neo 2?
While there are many good and underrated products that come from China recently, it seems we also have to keep in mind that there are also this kind of products. Good thing keyboards stuff aren’t that bad but it’s also probably due to the lack of complex components like laptops.
Oh I certainly had my moments with this one. It was a struggle to complete the review and wanted to throw my towel in. But at least it's done to warm others of just how terrible it is!
@@Techtablets You were professional and typically honest. I'm glad you haven't totally abandoned the budget tech, but perhaps the fuss about Infinix Note 10 Pro and the Cubot 7 inch phones are just hype? I thought if you're not reviewing them then they can't be worth my time. Anyway, keep up the great work.
Ah yeah some of those budget phones I cannot stand they look good but once you start using them they normally have terrible cameras and minor OS bugs etc. Just not worth my effort.
Chris, are you sure you weren't inadvertently rendering those videos on CPU whilst using the capture card? The Intel GPU is more than capable of HW decoding those videos so seems highly likely that they were pummelling CPU instead.
I thought that and when I ran the videos on just the laptop and it's screen (not HMDI out) same issue, dropping frames at the start. Not sure what was up and also reinstalled the Intel GFX driver. Native HEVC and VP9 support etc. But it wasn't good.
It struggles playing some 4K video, and isn't very good for gaming, So you decide it's only good for documents and web browsing? Willing to bet it's good for twitch streaming.
Great review ! I have some questions for those who have this laptop : - Does the keyboard fail like Teclast F15 ? - Does it heat ? It's allaliminium body ? Back case and front case ? I'm looking to buy this Dere M11 and HP 250 G8... which one you guys recommend ?
In fact, I know many overseas friends who use DERE products, and I have not found any dissatisfaction with them. It's more like you took money from Chuwi and helped it spread the word

Intel should not be selling this junk, it should be at least 8 cores for this price. a snapdragon 855 or 860 is 25% faster at half TDP and can be found for the price of a Poco X3 pro

8:12 I'm running Windows 11 on a laptop from 2007, so if you bypass the hardware check, then you can install Windows 11 on this one too.

Well it's 8259U is the better of the chipsets for the price tag. As long as it's not too heavy if so you would need a dedicated GPU.
