- Too loud!! What?... Who?..
We all love the Plexi but sometimes (like 99% of the time) it's to LOUD!!
In this video I'll explain what I did to help with that. The answer is spelled PPIMV.
A Master volume (Post Phase Inverter Master Volume)
At the end I also show you how to set bias which is necessary after you install a PPIMV. The one I'm using is called LAR / MAR PPIMV.
Warning! This video will get nerdy and potentially dangerous if you don't know what you're
doing so proceed with caution!
Signal Chain:
American Strat (Original pickups)
Amp
Two notes Torpedo Captor
Avalon M5
1176 Compressor
Apogee Rosetta
Wall of sound plugin
“It’s going to get nerdy”…. Oh baby!!! ❤️🇨🇦
I really enjoy your Videos and Playing Super fantastic!
Thank you very much!
OF COURSE!! Please Continue. Your Production Efforts are Professional sounding.
is it possible to put varicac to supply the final valves(5881) with less voltage for changing headroom and dreaming have a better sound without high gain-volume (similar like van halen)?
or put variac between output of jcm900 to cabinet 1960a is it dangerous? i'd like to have sound like when i left maximum value of gain and volume is amazing and reach of armonic frequency, but of course i can't do it cause neighbor..how can i have that sount with low volume?
Be careful with that pencil in there. The "lead" in the pencil is probably graphite and graphite is conductive.
A boss G7 Eq will boost the signal beautifully
Just got an g7 actually, its fantastic I think infront of a plexi. Think I prefer it to a treble booster!
@@Rohbemusic xotic super sweet has a great mid boost.
My GE7 in front of my '72 Super Lead w/master was pure magic....so simple and perfect.
I don't think this video is so much about boosting the signal as it is more about decreasing the volume. But the best clean boost I've ever found is the Db+ by Wampler. It adds absolutely zero coloring to the tone and it's quite quiet.
I do have issues with noise since my ppimv mod. Wiring is correct. Does anybody had a similar experienece?
Ok well, I find the issue right now a few seconds ago. The cables were to near an other cable coming off the middle pot
What folks would do better with is a load box with an attenuator.... save the circuitry
Sorry but MV kills Plexi tone...
Yes I have since then realized that 👍
@@Rohbemusic it could be a nice feature but there's the drive coming from the phase inverter tube that is missing. But you still could crank the master volume lol
Yes past 12 o clock it sounded pretty good but bellow that, just thin and flat. The power tubes needs to work a little to get that plexi sound. It was worth a try as the ppimv on my Vintage modern sounds very good actually.
@@Rohbemusic that vintage modern is for sure a future classic, great great amp!
Ugh. Very sloppy wiring. Whats with all the glue? 😂
